Apr 1, 2005I mainly want to know if their is a site that can scan my computer to see if there are any trojans or worms. Any kind of stuff that a hacker could put onmy computer or anything that may have passed through my firewall.

Apr 23, 2007I am using AntiVir Guard, is there something else more reliable?I am just curious on what anyone can suggest.I used to use McAfee, but then a common problem that a lot of people have been getting apparently. So it not only crashed my pc when it went out of whack it got so bad that i couldn't even get to the uninstall menu, it would kinda show...so i finally had formated my main hard drive, and completely wiped it out and fixed it. So for now I am just using a nice free antivirus program...Does anyone have a suggestion of maybe a safer one? Maybe something that would pick up on more virus protection.

Mar 13, 2005I have a client that for some reason AVG will not update except manually going to the grisoft site and downloading the update. I have tried every thing including installing from a CD, Installing from the Grisoft website, updating manually, and for some reason the AVG update manager will not work. Can someone recommend another Free Antivirus that is as easy to use and as automatic as AVG is, that I can install on her computer. This is an elderly woman that needs things as simple as possible. She can be taught to follow prompts but I would like to keep things as easy as possible. for example I send her emails regularly to remind her to run Adaware and Spybot,

Feb 20, 2006My problems with win98 are a thing of the past.I still have to install all of the previous programs.Just got WinXP installed with AMD Athlon XP 1800+ and 512 Mb RAM.I am gonna do read the walk through, the help section but is there anything i need to do first. The XP firewall is on so does this means that i no longer need Zone Alarm?However, there is no Antivirus. I previously used Norton.I figure I'd download another free Norton version later. Sep 1, 2009It got infected with Windows Police Pro. After disabling that, there are several 'remnants' left over. The only way I can run any spyware/malware removal programs is to install it fresh. The program(s) will open, then it'll shut down 2 seconds into the scan. It even shuts down my registry cleaner as soon as it begins to clean (after it finds all the errors). All these programs simply terminate themselves. It does this in SafeMode as well.

Jan 12, 2008today i was attacked with more than 20 trojans i had windows virus crap up and that didnt do much. i had avg running thank god it was scanning and found 13 trojans already in my comp and intercepted another 8 i dont know what i did to bring that all down on me. a website was opening it self, poping up whenever it was called "internet speed moniter" or something like that i think thats the source tho im not sure. my comp shut down by it self then i came back to find it had installed its program on my comp without my permission and several other new folders were in my programs files folder. well i figured just whipe the hard drive and start over clean..i put my xp disk in and attempted to do so. but i was over my head.i dont know how and need some assistance.

Oct 4, 2008my computer seems to be hacked by someone, I don't know who. This morning, I turned on the computer and saw that two fake virus protections "VirusResponse Lab 2009" and "Windows Antivirus 2008" have been invading my desktop. I keep exiting them all out, but they just keep coming back. There were approximately 50 Trojans, indeed, now I have used both XoftSpySE to delete WAV 2008 and used Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to delete VirusResponse Lab 2008 (I THINK). Next thing: After they have not been popping up anymore (hopefully), on the bottom right corner where the time shows, it says "VIRUS ALERT!" I go to Start and notice I cannot access My Documents, Control Panel, Recent Documents, and "All Programs." They are gone, except some programs listed in the front and Shut Down only. I also see that when I open "My Computer", there is no "C" Drive showing. I can't access that drive even though I'm using it. Now, there is a window from "Windows Security Alert" popping up telling me to "Enable Protection", the option with "Keep Blocking" and "Unblock". I don't know if I should choose "Enable Protection" because IE keeps opening and it's making my computer slow.

Still no internet. Next I went to services and changed the apporiate settings that had been turned off and wow internet sort off. I can access some sites but not all. I was able to update to service pack 2 and do all of the updates.

My record number is 105 viruses when doing a full system scan with the full paid version and updated version of Norton anti-virus 2004! I was surprised that i had that many viruses when i had been running norton for 3 or 4 months running full system scans once a week and a quick scan once everyday. I later then uninstalled norton becuase my computer was going too slow and installed avast antivirus. The first scan that i ran with avast as soon as i installed it found another 24 viruses. That is a total of 129 viruses.
