Failex Install, Now Have Dual Boot Option For Setup?

A week ago I had some malware crap going on and was going to reinstall windows. The windows XP setup crashed partway through (was having some hardware malfunctions too so the comp crashed). I fired windows back up and found Malwarebytes. Ran it and it got rid of the malware and I was back to functional windows with no issues.Now at startup, I have a dual boot selection between Windows XP (which works normal) and the windows XP setup. How do I get rid of the Windows XP setup option so that it loads into WinXP normal?
I have dual booting on my PC with Vista home premium on a 500 Gb SATA disk and XP Pro on a 250Gb SATA, both internal. Vista no longer holds terrors for me and I'd like to get rid of XP and regain better use of the 250Gb HD. Can I just remove XP from the control panel in the XP boot or is it a lot more complicated?I don't really want to re format the XP drive as I'd have to transfer a lot of data and files
I'm sure this has been posted on here before, but bear with me because I didn't know what to search under to find this answerDuring my system boot-up, I have the option to choose from 2 different Windows XP's. The one that I boot-up off of is on my smaller hard drive, which just has Windows on it. I have a now non-existent version of Windows on my main hard drive which was put on there when I was fooling around in college, and apparently I never properly got rid of the OS on my main hard drive.
a problem w/ my vid card, In order to remove any doubt that it wasn't a driver issue, I used the recovery CD. First attempt something happened and after doing the installer, it couldn't boot properly to continue the installation process. So I re-installed another time.This one completed normally and everything is (mostly) fine. One big thing thats irking me, is when I turn my computer on it asks me what I want to boot into giving me 2 WinXP options. (I havent tried picking the 2nd option)
I have a system which was initially set up a while ago as a dual boot, Win98SE/Win2K. I had a need for the Win98SE side of things then, but now that has gone but the Win98SE partition is the boot of course.I want to be able to do away with the Win98SE partition completely and ideally add the space to the Win2K one, maybe leave it as a clean NTFS partition if that makes things easier. This would mean that I would end up with a drive with a single boot partition holding Win2K. This of course is not a trivial process as the drive letter of the boot partition will need to change. (I do want that drive letter change incidentally).
I currently have two partitions on my computer with 98se on one and xp pro on the other. They're both formatted in FAT32. I want to get rid of win98se but keep XP pro and all my data. Also I'd like to change the file system from FAT32 to NTFS.
Does anyone know if it is possible, or has done, a dual-boot setup of Win XP Pro and Win MCE (2005)? I'm curious to know if it is possible and if so, what is the best way to go about it and any potential problems.My current setup is I have a Athlon 64 3800+ with 1TB RAID 0 running Win XP Pro. I have partitioned the OS onto C: with 50GB and left the rest as general storage for the moment. I also have a digital TV tuner card, which is why I'm thinking of installing MCE.
Ok, so this week end I tried adding a new HDD on my XP machine. This HDD had 2 partition on it (from a previous XP install on another PC) so I used the XP install CD to basically remove it and create a single partition on it (that's the only way I knew how to do it).However, while doing that, it ended up creating a dual boot config so that now, when I start my PC, I have to chose which OS to start:1) The regular XP install2) The one that never got installed on the new HDD since I only partitionned it.?
I'm going to build a new computer. It will have a new 500 GB Seagate 7200.11 32 MB cache. I want to reuse my current 500 GB Samsung Spinpoint 7200 RPM 16 MB cache, which is currently used only for backup storage. What's the best way to have both XP and Vista on the new computer (which is also possible to do)?Vista on the new Seagate; XP on the the old Samsung (will all my files be wiped out during the installation?)The reverse of the above XP on 100GB partition on the new Seagate; Vista on the remaining 400GB; use the old Samsung as I have been all this time. XP will only be used to run Internet Explorer 6 and minimal web design tools.
I have two hard drives, both of them with Win 2000 Pro. The First has been the master in machine one from the start. The second HDD has been in machine twoand that machine has crashed so bad that it is not worth the time, energy or money to fix it. This second HDD has important data on it that is only accessable through older programs that are only on this drive. (It is a church membership data base program and a church financial record program) I have the added problem that no one in the office has a clue where the install disk are for these programs and they are not where they are suppose to be (this was before my time). I would like to place the second HDD in the first machine and set up a dual boot so the user can choose which drive to operate from. There is the added problem that the computers only have a restore disk that came from Dell and not a full Win 2000 Pro CD.
I have two WIN XP operating systems and use XP's inbuilt bootloader to switch between them. First drive is C: and the second is G:. Only C: drive is active This works OK but both drives are visible. Is this the correct setup?
I have a dual boot system setup. One each on it's own partition. I would like to delete 1 so it will free up the hard drive space for the other. How do I go about doing this. One OS is server 2000 and the other is server 2003.
I just upgraded my system a couple days ago and have been having several issues. First, Vista wouldn't recognize my onboard sound and LAN from a fresh install No available drivers, go figure. So, I had to install two copies of Win XP SP2, and then upgrade one of them to Vista. A pain, but the only way I could get everything to work properly.
I got everything where I wanted it, life is good. Then I'm booting into Win XP and I have two identically named Win XP OS's in the bootup screen. So as not to confuse my wife, I went into the Startup and Recovery options menu (Again this is in XP) and deleted, what I thought, was the XP I used as an upgrade to Vista. Turns out I got the wrong one. Now I can't boot to XP, but Vista is working fine. Basically, when I choose "Earlier Versions of Windows" I get HD activity for a moment, but then everything seems to halt. No responce from the keyboard, so I have to do a Hard Re-Boot.
I set my PC up as dual boot, with XP on the C drive and 98 on the D (or is it E) drive. But when I boot under 98, during the boot process I get two options:- Windows XP Setup - Microsoft Windows (which is Windows 98) Of course the cursor by default lands on Windows XP Setup, so if I do nothing that launches automatically and I have to quit, restart, etc.I figure I must have installed this when I was initially setting up XP. Is there some way to get rid of it? I no longer need to "set up" XP, and want it to just boot into 98 by default when I select that drive as my boot drive.
I have a dual boot PC, Windows ME on one HDD and XP on another,but for some reason the windows XP setup is now one of the options, and I 'd like to get rid of it without messing up the bootlog. The following is my boot file, anyone know how to edit it to get rid of the "XP setup" option without messing up everything else.
I'm sure this has been asked 100 times before but my computer randomly shuts itself down so I don't really have the time to look for it. I need to reinstall Windows XP. I want to do a clean install. I have the disc and the reg code. What I don't have is the BOOT FROM DISC option!! How do I get it or how do I do it?

I installed XP(1) onto drive 1 , then reorganised all of my partitions to be in the correct order with the correct labels (I have been having a nightmare with volumue labels being incorrect!). Anyways got all the partitions exactly how I want them using partition manager (i.e XP(1) on C: with the intention to install XP(2) on D. Rebooted machine, pressed a key to boot from CD, it says 'setup is inspecting your current configuration' and then the screen stays black (I have to reset the machine). I turned off the computer and dissconnected drive 2 (int.) and drive 3 (ext.). Problem still exists.

I have recently cloned a drive containing an old win 95 installation to a new PC- reason being i need to retain an old MS DOS database program (service records for my firm). I want to install XP home in dual boot mode so that I can run current software/internet on the same rig...I've done it with Me before no probs...can it be done with Win 95?Also on the same hard drive is another data partition; can I have dual boot with additional FAT32 data partition i.e 3 partitions, two fat 32, one NTFS one of the fat 32 is bootable?
I was wondering if installing a dual boot of Windows XP was possible. I'm not talking of installing WinXP along with another different OS, but....2 WinXP on the same PC.
-WinXP 1 for games and games only, -WinXP 2 for all the rest (internet, office, video, mp3 etc, etc...)
I mean I would like to keep the WinXP for games installation (WinXP 1) as clean as possible, with only the drivers necessary, disabling all the windows services and stuff not needed on a general windows installation. I guess that this would give me a system with more resources for games (ram I guess), less need to use the paging file, less defrags (even if I already keep the programs/games on different partitions of the OS) and so on..
Is this a completely stupid idea (please don't be too harsh), or is it feasible? Is there another workaround (would creating another account profile do the job so that I won't need to have two windows installation ---> but I guess that I can't do that for drivers and programs I already installed in "use for all profiles" mode)?
I'm wiping my laptop HD and starting fresh. I want to install DOS and XP, and I've gotten a lot of tips through searching old posts, but I still have a few questions. There wasn't much out there for this particular combination.First, equipment. I've got a Toshiba Satellite M55 with a 75 GB HD. I'm installing HP Home. I have no floppy drive. I'm also using a 250 GB USB external hard drive for backups and such. Partitions: What size for each? I was thinking I'd have one for DOS, one for XP and applications, and one for data, although I'm planning to store most of my non-essential data on the external. Is it beneficial to also have a separate partition for the swap file? I read a recommendation in another thread for a 30 GB volume for XP/apps and a 2 GB volume for the swap file with the rest allocated for data, but I didn't find any recommendations for MS-DOS volume size.
Can anybody point me to the instructions about how to install XP Pro to a single Win98 hard drive - to make it dual boot, like Win 2k? I've been looking all around the internet and the only thing I've found is an XP dual boot on a 2nd hard drive.
i recently wanted to installed a few windows components from the windows xp installation cd. during the install i cancelled it. but the next day when i booted up the pc i got two options in the boot menu. It asked wether i wanted to boot "windows xp home edition" or "windows xp setup" How do i get rid of this "windows xp setup" boot option?
I had some failure and have recovered everything and upgraded to SP2.However, now after the POST as we go to load windows it tells me tohighlight which O/S I want to use.I always take the first (Windows XP Home Edition) and it boots andoperates fine. However, the second choice is also Window XP HomeEdition and if I take it it tells me there is a disk hardware error and it cannot boot.
I've setup Windows 2003 fax services on a W2K3 server and shared the device. I've tested faxing from Word on my PC and it works fine.However, when other users try to install the fax client, the setup hangs asking for the fx* setup files. I've tried different XPSP2 CDs, copying the files to a local directory, making sure that the users have local admin rights (and even domain admin rights) but to no avail. The files are already in the system32 directory so in theory the setup doesn't even need to copy them. Even if I delete them, it doesn't work.Our corporate SMS team reckons that there isn't any policy which could cause the problem.
I have had two video cards in this machine (Windows XP Home SP2) in the past for a dual screen setup.Today I put in a 2nd video card again (as the one that was in there previously has gone walk-about) but I dont have the option in windows for the 2nd screen.Everything appears fine in device manager (the screen that is working is the PCI ViRAGE one), as for the GeForce - well the light on the monitor comes on but doesnt display a picture, but in display properties there is no option for the 2nd card. I have been trying to install Windows XP as a second OS as I already have Windows 7 Ultimate installed. Unfortunately, after I select a partition, format it, and reboot the system stalls on the screen after the BIOS that has something to do with a list of devices and such. After 10 or so seconds a few characters and letters go blank randomly on the page. I rebooted and selected my cd drive as the boot device and accidentally didn't press a button in time to boot and a bunch of highlighted numbers were thrown all over the screen and a random smiley face on one of the lines.
I recently re-installed XP and now when my computer boots up I have 3 choices Windows XP Professional Windows XP Professional Windows XP Professional Setup It gives me 5 seconds to chose which system I want to load, if I don't make a choiceit automatically loads the Setup. The only one I need is the first XP Professional listed
I'm trying to dual boot 2 different installs of xp pro from 2 drives using the Windows boot loader. I've edited the boot.ini every possible way I can think of, but nothing works. I've done this plenty of times using a linux boot loader or dual booting from a single drive but I cant figure this out. I haven't been able to find any reference to this subject anywhere, but I think it would work. Anybody have a clue as to how to do this? I know I can use a different boot manager to accomplish this, I just wanted to make the Win boot.ini work. Or, does anybody know of a good boot manager if I cant make this work?
