Every time i right click or click on play all on my songs if refreshes explorer.exe and sometime says that it needs to close. It starting to do my head in now. I cant seem to do much without it either refreshing or restarting explorer.exe My HJT scans show nothing abnormal and i have scanned for Spyware, Virus's and may others but everything is clean, I have tried chkdsk but still the same.
View 8 RepliesMy friend downloaded songs from her cd's onto her computer and emailed them to me. I am currently running Windows XP, Windows Media Player 10 and I just recently got rid of IE and installed Firefox. When I try to play the songs, they are license protected. It redirects me to the microsoft page to download the license and and error pops up reading "Error: Your netscape browser does not have mircosoft windows media services plug-ins installed." I went to the plug-ins section in Firefox and it is not there. I tried downloading a couple of different plug-ins from microsoft and none of them made a difference. How do I get this plug-in?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a gateway laptop. about 6 months ago i was listening to music through my itunes and the songs starting skipping and the comp froze. I tried to do ctrl alt delte and couldnt so i had to shutdown by just holding the power button. The computer was also really hot when this happened. Since then I have not been able to get the computer to work. It will start about and give me the option of how i would like to start (in safe mode or regular) and no matter which option i pick it will go to the loading screen for windows xp and just sit there with the progress bar going for hours or until the comptuer dies. It never gets past this point or gives me any kind of errors.
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhenever I try to play music it doesnt play, it says low on memory, whenever I open any Microsoft Word program it gives me some error about a license, and whever I try to copy and paste anything, it doesnt let me. I have a few partitions on my hard drive and whenever I copy one file or a folder or anything, I cannot paste it anywhere. If I open Control Panel, the screen doesnt appear as usual, all the icons are on two columns on the lft side with a scroll bar next to them. If I try to open Add/Remove programs, it comes up all garbled. I was going to just reformat the whole computer but it will not boot from the cd rom drive now. And whenever the computer is booted in W2K and I try to browse the CD in My Computer, it just says "Please insert disk in drive...." Also, whenevr I restart, it sits on my desktop for about 5 minutes before it finally brings up the icons and everything. It has never done any of this, it just started this morning.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have Windows XP Pro. Realtek HD Audio sound card. For some really odd reason all of the sudden I can't hear the guitar playing on some of my songs. I can hear everything else playing but the guitar is drowned out and sounds very very low compared to the other songs and I really don't know what the problem could be. I have tried different drivers for my sound card all with the same results. Anyone know the problem or a possible solution?

i have read all of the faq's and trouble shooting guides as to why windows media player 10 cannot play .avi files on my computer. i have no idea what kind of video card i have so i dont know if i can get the drivers for it.the playback is green and choppy but i can hear the audio, it does not do this with all movie files i beleive it is only .avi's.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a refurbished Dell OptiPlex GX620 computer that came supplied with XP Pro S2 and S3 installed, a DVD/CD RW device and a floppy drive installed. I installed a Nero 6 program that I used with my old Win 98SE system and was able to copy files and folders from my old computer to be transferred to the new one. Yesterday (4/2/10) I tried to play a DVD and nothing happened. I chose to run E: and saw the various chapters available on the DVD but when I went into Media Player 11, it told me that it could not play the DVD. I tried another DVD but got the same notice. The notice window suggested that I move my video resolution down to 640Xxxx and lower my colors down to 16 bit from 32 bit. I also tried that but no joy. Can anyone suggest what might be happening here? I have a 3.6 Gig processor in this rig so I don't think it's a speed problem.

That doesn't appear anymore and I have to keep selecting tunes each time one ends. I looked in the window drop downs but can't find how to bring back PLAY ALL.

Then, I make a DVD with Dolby Digital Audio and it plays fine on my omputer and everywhere else. Why won't my computer play the PCM audio DVD? View 2 Replies View RelatedMy son gets the message "invalid system disk, replace the disk, then press play" , when booting up, he started getting it after inputting a picture from a "smart card" using his built in card reader. There is NO disk in the reader. If you hit any key the computer continues to boot "normal" It isn't a big problem, but a sign of something not being right.

Use fine, then after its been on for awhile it goes black again. Weird. I have the newest drivers and all the windows updates loaded. It just keeps going out. View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I was installing Windows XP SP3 on this computer, I received a notice that the installer couldn't find a specific file, but I was able to skip over it and resume installation. I received this notice when I installed Windows on another machine but this time looked it up and was able to find the file on the CD (don't remember the file name.). On the first computer, it seems like a lot of plug and play functionality doesn't work..specifically when I hook up my Creative Zen (MP3 player) or even Blackberry. I am unable to transfer files to or from these devices through Explorer like I can the other computer in which I did a thorough installation of Windows. I am also unable to update Windows Media Player, which could or could not be related. Is it possible the file I skipped over is what's causing this issue? Is there any way I can repair Windows or do I have to re-install?
