Hi all, I'm new here to posting. I have been reading alot, I mean alot and have learned tons of info! My question is, someone copied a movie for me on a DVD-RW. It does not play on my dvd player or my compter. Is there something I can do with this, its useless to me this way.
View 7 RepliesAuto Run and Auto Play just quit working. I did the basic, went to the drives concerned, the Auto Play is enabled, looks like.The msconfig option is out of my expertize level. Would someone know what happened, and how I can get those options working again?BTW, the System Restore quit working, too. I tried to roll back to a good working setting, but SR didn't restore. I tried several times, different dates.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy son gets the message "invalid system disk, replace the disk, then press play" , when booting up, he started getting it after inputting a picture from a "smart card" using his built in card reader. There is NO disk in the reader. If you hit any key the computer continues to boot "normal" It isn't a big problem, but a sign of something not being right.

View 14 Replies View RelatedEvery time i right click or click on play all on my songs if refreshes explorer.exe and sometime says that it needs to close. It starting to do my head in now. I cant seem to do much without it either refreshing or restarting explorer.exe My HJT scans show nothing abnormal and i have scanned for Spyware, Virus's and may others but everything is clean, I have tried chkdsk but still the same.

whenever I try to play music it doesnt play, it says low on memory, whenever I open any Microsoft Word program it gives me some error about a license, and whever I try to copy and paste anything, it doesnt let me. I have a few partitions on my hard drive and whenever I copy one file or a folder or anything, I cannot paste it anywhere. If I open Control Panel, the screen doesnt appear as usual, all the icons are on two columns on the lft side with a scroll bar next to them. If I try to open Add/Remove programs, it comes up all garbled. I was going to just reformat the whole computer but it will not boot from the cd rom drive now. And whenever the computer is booted in W2K and I try to browse the CD in My Computer, it just says "Please insert disk in drive...." Also, whenevr I restart, it sits on my desktop for about 5 minutes before it finally brings up the icons and everything. It has never done any of this, it just started this morning.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have read all of the faq's and trouble shooting guides as to why windows media player 10 cannot play .avi files on my computer. i have no idea what kind of video card i have so i dont know if i can get the drivers for it.the playback is green and choppy but i can hear the audio, it does not do this with all movie files i beleive it is only .avi's.

That doesn't appear anymore and I have to keep selecting tunes each time one ends. I looked in the window drop downs but can't find how to bring back PLAY ALL.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHome Built, ASUS MB, AMD 2.7 gig CPU, 1 gig memory, SATA HD main, with ATA133 HD back up, Nvidia GeForce 6200 264MEG video card, Creative Audigy sound card, Windows XP Pro SP2, 500W PS, Sony CDRW and Sony DVD RW.Here's the problem, It does not matter what game I am playing, except for MS Games from windows, I get the blue screen of death and normally saying that my drivers are out of date or there is a problem with them. Sometimes it will say I have a memory error.I have cleaned and/or replaced all fans and heatsinks, checked for bulging caps, burnt or damaged ICs Resisters, diodes, transistors, etc. Reinstalled all divers and updated them with latest from factory. System works just fine on IE, Mail, IMs, MS office 2003, etc.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an HP 3GB Pentium 4 computer. WMP has a lot of static watching AVI movies. It plays music and Quick Time Movies just fine. I thought it might have been a speaker problem since the volume is very low on one speaker. Switched speakers and the one with more volume moved to the other side. I may have a speaker problem, have to burrow a pair from a friend. However I played the same AVI movies but used Real Player and DIVX Player and they played with no static. Since WMP will play mov or quick time and mp3 files but not avi without static it has me confused. I may need new speakers but I'm guessing it won't solve my real problem.
View 6 Replies View Relatedrecently i did a system restore to fix some problems that came up after my siblings used my computer. before the system restore i could play avi files no problem, but afterwards the media player can only play the sound.ive tried several movie players such as divx, windows media player, klite movie player, and vlc. all of them can play the audio but not video.i updated my divx codec and downloaded a new fddshow codec but it didnt work. k-lite codec pack comes with a whole lot of video codecs to play any movie format, but it still doesnt work.

After playing for a LONG time, the game briefly paused and I saw some visual artifacts, textures were all messed up etc. But I loaded a savegame and it worked fine after that. (I admit it, I had tried overclocking my GPU but that was over three weeks ago and I reset the settings back to normal.) Then, after about an hour, I used alt+tab to check out a walkthrough, then alt+tabbed back and it took much longer than normal to get back into the game...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running Win XP-SP2. I wiped my hard drive due to irresolvable software conflicts. I reinstalled XP-SP2, Office, Norton, the printer and scanner and my digital camera software package. All were updated and working perfectly until Sunday. I booted up the machine only to get a warning that says One of your disks may have errors let the computer reboot itself (which it will do repeatedly, stuck in a reboot loop) or you can hit any key to ignore this warning. You have only ten seconds to read all this and make a decision.
Once the computer boots up, everything seems to work as normal except for system restore. I tried to restore to the day after I reformatted and installed everything and all I get is an error saying Cannot restore to that point, please choose another point to restore tooor something to that effect.
a message keeps popping up saying the following: Cannot load dialog. Error 623: The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection. All I can do is click the close button and it goes away and nothing else seems to happen, but it pops up again in a few minutes.

I can't get anywhere into Windows, I've done F2, F8, F12, everything I could think of without risking more damage. I've booted from the system mechanic CD with the Hard Drive recovery, and while it said it found and fixed a problem, it didn't fix this one.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy system is slow, Malwarebytes came back with error 714 (0,9), so uninstalled using add/remove programs - but even that continually showed error code thru process. Have now reinstalled Malwarebytes and running scan - nothing detected on scan yet. Tried to print on Dell 924 Photo printer (which has worked fine for 5 years) and came back printing error. Tried to add/remove MS SQL 2005 program, wouldn't allow me to uninstall. this program had error messages at startup, wasn't even sure what it was or how it got on the system, so decided to uninstal after inquiring on techguy software forum. but it wouldn't let me uninstal it. I think the program was probably related to high school technology class with the boys.

I have used the Disk Manager, Add drive letters, to mount this drive as G:Shadow-J. I have set share for G:Shadow-J as Shadow-J. Got a fatal error message and everything locked up. I ended up shutting down and when I turned the computer on again it said no operating system found. Where did I screw up?
This is a six year old Sony, XP, AMD 1.0Ghz. Everything was working at the time I tried the System Recovery EXCEPT I was constantly getting low space messages for drive C. I have no files on this drive and very little software. It is a 20G hard drive partioned into two 10G partitions.
