I recently upgraded my Intellimouse Optical's drivers to version 5.2. After doing this, however, I noticed that the software is automatically hiding my cursor when I begin typing. I definitely do not want this happening, and I was a bit mad to find out that the option to "hide cursor while typing" is unchecked. I tried rolling back the drivers with no luck. Microsoft's knowledgebase is of no help as usual and I am running out of options. Does anyone know why this behavior would be occurring?
I'm at his friend's house trying to fix up their SONY VAIO XP desktop computer. One thing I can't fix is that there is really fat line when I type instead of just a straight thin line. It's like a black square.
While typing a document, a sound will occur and I will lose my curser. Subsequent typing does not appear on the screen. I have to click where I want to type to reset the cursor. This happens frequently while typing. This occurs in my Word Processor, in my email, or anyplace I type. I found that the Title Bar also dims at that time and if I click on the Title Bar the cursor will return. My operating system is Windows XP. There are no error messages.
I am running XP on my Compaq laptop. When typing in any field of more than 1 character, my cursor insists on placing itself randomly within material already typed and continues my typing stream at that point. From there it will place itself randomly somewhere else and continue my typing. This is maddening. I have scanned with several AV, Malware, spyware and other utilities and the PC is cleaned of anything possibly there. I have manually inspected all directories for suspicious and unknown files that could be causing this to no further avail. I regularly use AVG, Malwarebytes, Glary utilities, Cerebus utilities, Regcure, the Uniblue suite, Counterspy and others(all sequentially). This problem has persisted for months and need advice on what else to try to eliminate this problem.
searched previous forums for similar issues, and saw others complaining of moving cursors while typing. The only response I saw to this was maybe the pressure on the touch pad from wrist was causing. Not the case with me.On 10/30/07 I had (i believe) a backdoor trojan creep in. I have since removed and fixed all errors (allegedly) the only lingering glitch is that while typing, (Word, Powerpt, Search bars, etc.) the cursor repositions itself either ahead or behind my typing. This is making my work take twice as long! This happens at either fast or slow typing speeds. It really is frustrating. To be a little more specific, the movement of the cursor is not visible. It happens between flashes. One flash, it is before the next letter; with the next flash of the cursor it is behind by a paragraph (or more or less).
Every few seconds the cursor disappears and I have to move the mouse back to where I was typing and left click. When this happens the browser area also turns grayish until I left click. So frustrating! Have tried all the suggestions I have found online such as unclicking the "hide pointer while typing" box.
I've been having this problem a lot over the past year or so where I might be typing a sentence (and I think this only happens when posting at message boards) and sometimes in the middle of a word the cursor will suddenly jump to another place in the paragraph. As an example, it happened just now. When I was typing the word "sentence" above, in the middle of typing the word, the cursor jumped up to the title and the "ten" part of the word got mixed in with the word "typing" in the thread title. Sounds more complicated than it is, just wanted to give that as an example...and oh, it just happened again haha, while I was typing "give." I'm not sure if this happens to me in Word too, but I don't think so. Anyone have an idea why the cursor would just randomly and suddenly jump to another point in the text?
No matter what program I'm using (word, excel, firefox) , when I type, my cursor freezes/stutters causing every fifth or sixth letter I type to not show up. When I hold down a directional arrow within text, the curser freezes for a second, maybe twenty letters along. I have Norton's and Spyware Doc running, but this still happens when I shut them off. I'm trying to figure out if there's something running that I don't know of that's causing this, because it's really annoying, I usually have to type and re-type passwords three or four times before all the letters show up.
I have been using my Wacom tablet mouse for quite sometime & beginning to feel agitated. I can be typing & then suddenly the cursor will move to another are that I've typed. Which breaks up my sentence & I have to always proof read & undo what has been typed. I'd sure appreciate some feedback on this. Could my computer be hacked as I'm also using wifi {not my router like I normally do} & I've noticed that lately I have alot of users connected to my connection? I'm confused?
I'll be typing a sentence , and all of a sudden , the typing cursor will reappear halfway throigh the sentence i've just typed and start overwriting it. I did an AVG scan which found 60 tracking cookies , which i deleted , but the typing situation hasn't resolved itself. I thought i'd get a priest to exorcise it with holy water or get in touch with you guys. I have a feeling it may be connected to the firefox " aero fox "skin i installed yesterday or the coloured tabs addon as all the 60 tracking cookies came from mozilla.
can any one help why is it when i am typing on my laptop the cursor will jump to the middle of the document or as it has just done dropp to the bottom of page.
There are 4 user profiles on my computer, which runs XP Pro. For some reason, the 'My Documents' folder for my own profile no longer appears, but it's contents seem to have migrated into my daughter's 'My Documents' folder.this possibly happened when I had the Beta version of Microsoft Spyware running, as my daughter mentioned some messages coming up to do with changing the path for 'my documents'
I used to be able to right click on a picture and rotate (either left or right) and save the picture to desktop. Now, I can't do any of that- it has cut that out of the menu. What do I do?
I have an Acer laptop, this was originally partitioned as 50% (50gB) C: and 50% (50gB) D: and DVD E:I think the D: drive was completely empty. The first time I plugged in a memory stick it was assigned as E: and now after removing the stick my C: is 100 gB. and my DVD is D:Can I now get my original partitions back ... and how?And will this happen again if I plug in a memory stick
I am facing an unusual problem in my PC. Well first of all I tell you the specs of my PC. Its a P4 2.4 Ghz machine with 512MB Ram and 80G HD. I have dual boot with 98 and XP as my 2 OSs. Most of the times I am on XP but for using DOS i need 98.
The symptoms of the problem/virus in my PC are as follows:When I right click on any icon; say drive, file, folder etc. The first option is displayed as 'blank' instead of 'open'. I clicked on that option on CD-Rom drive letter by mistake and the CD Rom was not being detected since then. The icon just vanished. No Antivirus software has detected it yet (Ive tried 2)
I changed the system boot in "MsConfig" and now my sound, scanner and my printer don't work. I looked at the device manager to see if there was an error with the soundcard or something, but all devices have vanished from the device manager. I just tried to connect my ipod to the computer, and it said the software can't communicate with the ipod.
Yesterday I got onto my computer which was already on everything seeming fine, and I clicked on internet explorer to check my email then the window locked up or something and then my taskbar vanished. Then I closed the window out and my icons were gone. So I restarted my comp and now its just wallpaper. No icons or taskbar. Ive seen a few other posts on a problem like mine and tried a few of the fixes they said but none worked. I've tried a system restore to I beleive a week earlier, some shellfix download from ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/anti-virus/tools/shellfix.reg, hitting f8 and doing a boot to when settings worked(sorry cant think of whats its actually called) and a couple other things I believe. I noticed alot of times a request for a hijackthis file is asked for so I went ahead and got that and will post. Also Im positive I have the aurora virus cuz I get all the popups that say aurora on there and I havent been able to get rid of it
How can I get my XP theme and Classic theme options to return to the pull-down menu in the themes tab of the display properties window.I don't know what I did but my pc went all funny and they just vanished in a blink of an eye. Could someone experienced in this type of problem please help me find where they are and help me return them as an option.
as i turned on my laptop today i realized that there is no start menu. All my desktop icons are there, though they take longer than normal to load and taskmanager works fine and i have all my navigation menus as well. I am also unable to run msconfig, even in Command Prompt. When i type in msconfig, i get the following message.msconfig is not a recognized command. Another problem that i have been having is that if i click on a window, and taskmanager was infront of it, taskmanager does not move behind my active window. I am running windows XP, on a Presario V2000 with a 60 gig hd, and a 512. i have tried everything to get it to come back, i have booted in safe mode and tried that way, i have also used StartUp Mechanic to disable everything that i do not recognize in hopes that something is blocking the start menu from loading. I am okay with a computer, but the simpler the instructions the better.
I recently deleted a Trojan virus from my computer, and thought I was all smart for being able to do so, but to my dismay, I opened my Start Menu to find that The "All Programs" button had somehow been removed from the start menu.Any ideas on how to get it back would be greatly appreciated. My English teacher doesn't seem like the type I could use the "My computer broke " excuse on.
After starting my pc i noticed what 99% of data in my hard disk has vanished. it used to be only a 1GB free space there and now it shows 38,8 out of 39 GB. I tried system restore in normal and safe mode. .Thorough description of situation: PC runs on Windows Xp SP2. It has 2 hard drives where the biggest one is paritioned into three drives: one for Windows installation, second was used for installation files of other programs (I kept Program Files folder there) and the alst one was dedicated for data storage. So the problem occured with the second drive. and as a result i do not have most of my programs running.
I've seen similar recent threads opened detailing similar problems you've looked into. My control panel icon has vanished from my start menu, the link to it in My Computer has gone too and when I try to access it via the Run function using control.exe I am greeted with the message of "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer, please contact your administrator".I'm sure this is a malware problem I've picked up off the web but I've got no idea of how to fix the problem. Your help would be very gratefully received.
I have run a Norton 360 computer virus scan several times which has picked up nothing. My computer sometimes seems to have a mind of its own. it starts flicking back through pages in my documents or through internet pages i am looking at, starts typing in capitals by itself, opens up yahoo messenger and starts typing messages to rrr and as i type this my cursor keeps moving back through the text and is all over the place. have I got a virus?
I tried this under security but maybe it should have been here. I've check out several boards and seen problems close to mine but the fixes don't work. This started a couple months ago about the time I upgraded Netscape but I can't swear that has anything to do with it. I've always used Netscape because it runs faster for me. When I scroll it is either very slow or it stops for a few seconds and then jerks to catch up. Typing does the same thing. I will type several words before they all of a sudden show up on the screen. All this is happens about half the time. I've noticed even when I play Hoyle card games it sometimes is jerkly. I am mostly looking around Ebay so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I absolutely never open emails with attachments or click on anything in an email. I use Norton Systemworks, Norton Firewall and I've recently used AdAware and CWShredder. I had a tech person "tune up" my computer, rid of temp. files, defragged, antivirus, etc. My computer is only 1 1/2 yrs. old. Please help me and keep in mind I know more about the Internet than I do the computer itself. This has taken all the joy out of being on line.
This just started happening. When I click START-RUN, I can no longer just type in msconfig or cmd. I must type in msconfig.exe or cmd.exe. Even when I get into the command prompt, I cannot just type in ping, i must type ping.exe Is there any way to fix this problem?
It happens typing OUTLOOK messages or messages on online forums. I'll be typing and suddenly everything freezes; but I keep on typing and about 5-8 seconds later the characters suddenly catch up.Seems this began after a recent Windows XP update, but I don't know. I've experienced it on my laptop as well, but since some of the same software is installed, could be that. I have VCom's Fix-It 6, but don't know whether that could be the problem or not. Oooops...did it just now.
i recently began to experience slowing typing in all apps on my laptop the typing speeds are fine at the log in screen (when i type my password).i already checked msconfig for PCMService.exe, it's not there so that shouldn't be the problem.my system performance is how it has always been, i tried to play a large movie and it worked fine.as i type about 5% of the time typing speeds are fine. sometimes if i type a long phrase and wait it will quickly fill in what i have typed after stalling for a second.another forum post i read suggested deleting the keyboard driver and let it install again but i haven't tried that yet.
