My computer is running too slow when I am accessing internet. It takes hell amount of time to load any page and sometimes it does not even load and says that page can't be found.
I spoke to internet service provider two times and they says there is no problem from their side. They have done a speed check and said that there could be something wrong with the computer.
I am not really getting what could be wrong with my machine.
Lately my computer has been extremely slow, not just internet slow but onboard slow. For example, if I click on an application from the desktop it will sit there for 10-20 seconds before anything happens. Occasionally I'll click multiple times on something and nothing will happen then 30 seconds later it will open multiple instances of things. This delay has been happening with just about anything I click on, acting like the computer's busy doing something else when nothing else should be going on. I've looked in the task manager and the applications column will be blank

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with accessing internet on my laptop, on our home wireless network.It's so slow! We have the router downstairs, when i am sitting next to it, it's slower than the PC upstairs I'm typing this on! It's recent, with no hardware changes. And at least 1 PC on the network works fine.it's taking over 200s to load expedia.nl, but then engadget.com only takes 10-40s.it's really unreliable and main pages will load (slowly) but clicking on links yields nothing.It's not bandwidth issues either, we have a 3mb connection, and the problems are the same no matter the usage.The speed on the laptop is just so unreliable.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy problem is that my internet connection is pretty slow on my main computer. It's an older (6 years) Dell. I'm still running XP and IE7. I have Comcast cable and it's connected through a Linksys modem. The problem is that the internet response on this machine is pretty slow. I have a laptop that I use and that is much better. I would figure that my "main" computer would be faster since it has a hard connection, not wireless. I know that isn't much info so ask away and I do what I can to provide all the info needed.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI am currently running windows xp pro. I attend university and use their lan internet which i get via a port in my dorm. Lately I have had problems with my computer and the internet/running slow. The internet will work fine somtimes, then for a reason i am unable to identify, it seems to stop working. The computer doesn't see a network problem, i just don't get any internet access, and that includes any programs not just my browser. when this happens my computer also runs very slowly. It takes it 3-5 seconds to close a window or even to minimize. I can't find any programs sucking my memory in the task manager, and have run numerious virus and anti-spyware scans, but have found nothing. I am attaching a hjt log, hopefully someone can figure out how to get my computer back up to a useable/ reliable point.

Also my computer is old in computer terms about 5 or 6 how can I speed it up without paying money? My C: drive always seems to be low disk space. I don't download anything to that drive. One last thing I have msn dial up 56k, but when I sign on Ionly get a 44k and sometimes a 41k or 42k. What can I do about that without going cable modem?

I have been looking for the program for a very long time, and I was angry that it didn't work. So I allowed the infected program and then the it disappeared. The icon disappeared. I knew I shouldn't have done it, but nothing bad happened to me for about a day. Then, my laptop was slower than normal, internet connection was slow (I'm right next to the router too), and I was getting pop-ups. I tried to do System Restore, but all my restore points were gone! I couldn't even switch months! Also, Automatic Updates was telling me that it was off, but when I checked my settings were the same when I first set them.

The cursor will at times freeze up if a couple of screens are open and I don't move it for a minute or 2. Sometimes when the screen saver activates I can't do anything cause its frozen.

For some reason for the last 3 days my internet connection has gotten worse and worse i just reformated and reinstalled windows i have a linksys router and 2 computers hooked up to it and one playstation 2 for online gaming i looked at the setup online at 192.168.1.1 and it says i have 2 clients one at 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.102 mine is at 102 is there a reason it skips over 101 because mine use to be 100 and the other computer 101 why is it now 102?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought Fantom Drives 1Tb external hard drive, Model # GF 1000EU. After about a year all computers would stop recognizing the external hard drive. My computers would know it was connected but I would not see it under "My computer." I read through hundreds of forums trying to fix the problem. When nothing worked I decided to take apart the enclosure and remove the hard drive so I could connect it to my desktop pc using a SATA cable. Essentially, I have two hard drives connected to my computer and I want to use one as an external hard drive so I am able to access data from it while still running my computer off of it's original hard drive. Is this possible?
View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen i tried to log on to my account it said loading personal settings i thought to myself that's fine then this message cam up and it said, there is an error which is stop the computer accessing your account and also it says or you do not have the sufficient rights to enter the account then it says press ok so i pressed that then it said we are now making a temporary account for you to go on and any changes made will be lost then i pressed ok. So now i have a new account and all my information has been wiped from that account. But the funny thing is i go on the administrators account and i can see my files so it must be still there but it is just stopping me from getting onto my account.
View 6 Replies View RelatedXP Home reboots in the 3+ minute range. Once it gets to the 'Starting Windows XP' screen, it loads fine. Some damnthing is hanging.MY comp is running slow. Expeciially on the net. Task manager is reporting no excess network use. IE 6 acts like it's on a 56k modem. I use Mozilla FireFox, which runs fine, but my wife is a IE 6 fanatic. Shareaza and WinMX load slowly and take a minute or more to change tabs. BitTornado (latest versions all) loads and runs fine, but seems to hang after an hour or so. It stops updating speeds, seeds, peers, etc. It also closes slowly. Once I get online, the comp slams on the brakes. Mozilla is the only app that seems unaffected. Sygate is also logging a lot of portscans. 7 in the in the last hour or so. All from the same IP address.

My comp is slow with programs (especially opening) and also on the internet. Aso, my processing light is always on, no flicker, just a solid light. I usually get frustrated and shut it down. However, the newest computer is running Win7 64-bit pro. Some of the other computers are just Win XP pro 32-bit. Both IE and Firefox had slow connectivity yet I had him do a speedtest with speakeasy.net and it showed good speeds. He says the longer the computer is on, the slower is a surfing the internet. CPU usage is normal.

Could the recovery have messed with his computer networking drivers? He used a gateway recovery disk. His computer is either a gateway or dell computer.

norton internet securities wont work, norton antivirus wont work.
computer (WinXP SP2 - 1GB RAM) just started in the last day or two to load really slow -- it takes a good half hour or more to get to the point where you can click on an icon and it takes a few minutes to open. Don't even ask about the internet. it did not download anything in the last few days and has no idea why this is happening.
