For the past 4 months, sometimes the computer doesnt shutdown properly. the computer power stays on but the monitor isnt detecting any signal from the pc. along with this I sometimes get a BSOD when shutting down stating that its caused by mv61xx.sys and the error code is 0x08E. I dont know why its doing this
View 14 RepliesMy computer has been doing this for awhile, it works fine, I can watch videos on it and everything, then I go play a game (Call of Duty 4 on max graphics) then after a minute or two my monitor would go blank (Blue in this case since its HDMI) and lose the signal to the graphics card, The connector isn't loose, nor is power and I must reboot to get the signal back.I have upgraded the computer with this graphics card, I did uninstall old drivers but maybe not fully.Another perhaps unrelated problem is that whenever I restart, it no longer detects my graphics card, resolution: 800x600, 4-bit, I must uninstall all my drivers, then reinstall them and it fixes the problem.

Today, when I boot it up, the main monitor displayed all theboot information and startup stuff, however, when the system SHOULD have gotten to the user login screen, the main montor came up with "no signal." The secondary monitor at this time will still show my mouse moving around on it, and I'm able to move the mouse over to the main monitor but I can't see anything.I've gone through a few basic manuevers to see what was wrong. I booted in safe mode and logged in to my mai account and attempted to change the other monitor to the main one; However, Safe Mode does not appear to supoort multi-monitor and I couldn't change this. After that, I attempted to VNC into my computer with the notebook I'm on now. When I came to the login dialogue box, the only account I could log into was the invisible "Administrator" account. My main account, as well as a temporary account I created for testing, both came up with an error "Cannot access due to user restrictions." My theory is that because all of the accounts which are actually visible on the login screen seem to not be working, the login is bugging and not outputting anything to my main monitor (since I have verified both monitors and connections to be working properly).

I have done this loads of time to clean the pc and start afresh. Problem is i am now unable use computer - "no signal" on pc showing up. Anyhow i have been fishing about and it looks like the graphics card is not working, there is no sign of it in dxdiag/display. I know the graphics card is Radeon 9200 SE AGP and i also have the disc, but i still cannot get it to work, I am safe mode at the moment.

I reboot and XP cant even start because right afte the splash (b4 login) it flashes a blue screen and reboots. So I did chkdsk and a /p and NO GO. So I hiave to reinstall XP. When this happens, the XP splash screen appears(blue line scrolling) and then monitor loses signal and reboot occurs. This can cycle several times, even if I choose the option of starting Windows with last known configuration that worked.

I have been sitting in front of a blank screen for 3 hours. The monitor displays "no video signal", so I exchanged monitors but the other one stays blank too. The pc appears to be running but will not boot. I have entered Windows CD to restore but it won't even boot that.

Works and installs perfectly however, because i have a weak connection sometimes an error message comes up saying you have lost connection, so i would keep trying untill i manage to get onto the game successfuly. Then i would get another problem which i am sure it is to do with my graphics card. As i am loading the game and enjoying the introduction video, my computer screen would go black and a message would appear saying 'No Signal' with the computer still running. So after seeing this message i would assume to restart the computer, there is no other way of getting it back to the desktop. I did this quite a few times maybe about 6times. View 6 Replies View RelatedMy PC is running absolutely stable (7 hours of orthos). Just bought this EVGA motherboard and swapped it in place of an Asrock motherboard and got everything running, overclocked and stable.Before I got Windows XP running (previous installation from the asrock mobo), I encountered an issue and i isolated it down to one of the 200gb 7200.7 SATA HD's.IF this HD is plugged in when the PC boots, then the Windows XP Boot screen appears and hangs. NOTE: it DOES NOT freeze - the bar still moves, but there is no HD activity and the pc stays like this for hours on end. Note again - this is not a hang. the activity bar still moves from left to right, and it keeps doing this indefinitely it seems (with no HD activity from any drives). IF this HD is not plugged in, the PC boots in straight away. All drivers are tip top (nforce drivers, SATA drivers). However if I hot-plug this drive from within Windows, it works fine!. The PC just doesn't boot with the HD plugged in.

Now we have a new tower to go with exisiting 24" monitor. My problem is I can not get a old standard VGA monitor to work with the old system listed above. When I plug in the the VGA monitor plug in the VGA outlet in the old computer I get no signal to the monitor. What do I need to do with drivers or other wise to get the old computer back to being able to be used with the old VGA monitor?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is weird. I have to go through the shutdown procedure twice, i.e., Start/Shut Down/Shut Down and click Ok, then Start/Shut Down/Shut Down and click Ok again. It will then shutdown properly. The same thing happens when I try to "Restart." After doing the first shutdown sequence, everything is normal. I can open programs, surf the web, etc. It's as if I never tried to shut it down at all. Only after the second shutdown procedure will it shutdown fully. One note: When I go through the first shutdown sequence, my taskbar pops up and the desktop is darkened. After clicking Ok, the taskbar autohides and my desktop returns to its normal color.I have only had this problem for the last month or two. Before that, all was fine. It's not critical since I can shut it down. It's just annoying to have to do it twice.I have Windows 2000 Pro, SP4, build 5.00.2195.

When I select "Start" then either shutdown or reboot, my desktop will flicker a couple of times, and then nothing appears to happen. I must select "start" again and then either shutdown or reboot and then they will work as expected.

Ok... the cd still wouldnt boot, so I went into F2 again and made all devices non-bootable except the cd player. When I tried this method... I was informed that my cd drive isnt a bootable device. I checked a few settings but couldnt find anything in regards to this. Im just trying to boot from my cd player.

View 7 Replies View Relatedrecently my computer has been doing some very strange things. occasionally i get a box popping up saying that something has been terminated unexpectedly and the computer will shutdown in 60 seconds, but this is quite rare.
the main problems are having unusual crashes and moments where the computer acts like the monitor cable has been unplugged and then plugged back in. also i am having internet connection issues much more frequently than before, and sometimes my computer just slows down to snail pace or the mouse hangs every few seconds for no apparent reason.
i have searched through my task manager processes and cannot find anything there out of the ordinary. i have tried to run Ad-aware and Spybot but the programs both crash when they try to update, the same thing also happens with AVG antivirus, the computer refuses to let these apps access the internet connection. I do have Sygate Personal Firewall installed and usually it would run at startup but now there is no longer the icon in the system tray, and when I try to boot it up from start menu it too refuses to load. however the process 'Smc.exe' which I understand is part of Sygate Personal Firewall is still running.
As for system specs, I have:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1 gig ram
Geforce 6600 GT AGP
Soundblaster Audigy 2
ASUS motherboard
Windows XP Professional SP1
PS- I did have an idea why the spyware/adware/AV programs won't update, since recently my Sygate Personal Firewall seemed to forget which programs were 'allowed' or 'blocked', and I haven't run any of these programs since then. Now that I cannot access SPF to tell it to allow these programs that could be the reason they won't update. I am still at a loss as to why SPF/AVG do not load up on startup as they used to however.
When I turn on the computer, I get a screen with functions Esc, F2 and F11. I can not select any of these functions
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy PC has been having problems starting.when I switch the computer on is that the screen will flash haphazardly for several seconds (several vertical thin coloured lines) and then go completely blank. I have to press the CPU switch on and off for close to a dozen times before finally the computer will start up properly. A message will then show saying Windows has not successfully started because of (I quote) a "recent hardware or software problem". This morning, an additional message came up and the system went on to perform a disk test. I have a lot of data stored so total system recovery is preferably not an option. Please can someone help & tell me what I need to do???! I am on XP and have a Compaq Presario 6150 desktop.

This happened every once in a while for a month or so, but now almost every time I'm on the computer. SOmetimes after I've been on a long time, sometimes after only a few minutes. Things were working AOK until I ran several anti-virus programs being Registry Mechanic, SpyBot, Ad-Aware SE, PestPatrol, & a trial version of Webroot Spy Sweeper. I seemed to start having printing problems (Epson Stylus Photo RX600) after running those. Documents start to print, but only print the first line or two of the document and in color and black and sometimes "garbage" and then it scrolls through and starts on another sheet of paper and so on and so forth. It doesn't stop, so I access my printer monitor and tell it to cancel all documents. Well, it takes forever to do that and so I shut off the printer and then everything seemed to stop printing. The next time I try to print something, I get the same problem. I even downloaded updated Epson printer software from the Epson site and installed it after deleting my old Epson printer software
View 3 Replies View Relatedso my Radeon Sapphire X1600 Pro (256MB) crapped out on me mainly the video feed. So I purchased a new one didn't really look at it very well but its a Geforce 7300GT 512MB and when I install the latest drivers and promptly restart the computer it freezes on the Windows is now loading screen.
Now I have 1 guess as towhy its doing this is insufficient RAM but I'm not sure.
whenever I try to play music it doesnt play, it says low on memory, whenever I open any Microsoft Word program it gives me some error about a license, and whever I try to copy and paste anything, it doesnt let me. I have a few partitions on my hard drive and whenever I copy one file or a folder or anything, I cannot paste it anywhere. If I open Control Panel, the screen doesnt appear as usual, all the icons are on two columns on the lft side with a scroll bar next to them. If I try to open Add/Remove programs, it comes up all garbled. I was going to just reformat the whole computer but it will not boot from the cd rom drive now. And whenever the computer is booted in W2K and I try to browse the CD in My Computer, it just says "Please insert disk in drive...." Also, whenevr I restart, it sits on my desktop for about 5 minutes before it finally brings up the icons and everything. It has never done any of this, it just started this morning.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a problem with my windows. When ever I plug in my Flash drive (i got a few: kingston data traveller 1gig, pendrive 128mb,etc) onto my usb port. Window will be able to detect the drive had been plug in. I can see the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon on the right side of my task bar. But i cannot see the drive appearing in "My Computer". If I double click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon and try to view the external drive information, I can see that its already detected and being assign with drive E: . Even if I open a windows explorer and type in E: , it will throw me an error "Cannot find 'file:///E:/'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct". But if I were to restart my computer, then i can see it for the first time. If I disconnect it (thru the "Safely Remove Hardware") and plug it back in (or plug another flash drive), I cant see the external drive. Causing I had to restart my computer multiple time a day.
