Computer Running Very Slowly: Installed Programs Conflicting?

Dec 12, 2006

OK, my computer has been running very slowly over the last couple of years. I took it to someone to fix but the computer is still running rather slowly. I'm not sure if there is a virus, or if any programs that are installed on it are conflicting.

Computer Running Very Slowly - Programs Seem To Lag

Oct 9, 2006

My computer has been running very slowly lately. I have 67 free gigs of space, so I wouldn't think that's the problem. It's slow in the following ways:programs seem to lag pretty badly when I have more than one open. Sometimes even when I only have one open. Could this be due to my computer's amount of RAM

Pro Running Very Slowly / Programs Not Responding

Jul 21, 2009

My laptop has just decided to run very slowly of late.So much so that I am unable to run certain programs. Some will load up but if you try and navigate through any screens etc the program will stop working (comes up with not responding in windows task manager). This is even happening with windows explorer.I've got Norton 360, which although it should automatically boot up at start up is failing to do so.I can't even get it to run to perfom a system scan. This leads me to think I may have a nasty virus or worse still failing hardware

Computer Is Running Really Slowly

Feb 15, 2006

I'm not sure what's wrong. When I use the internet, the pages take a really long time to load. I can't watch videos without it buffering every 15 seconds. This started a couple of days ago after I downloaded spybot search and destroy. I used it on my computer for the first time and I guess it messed something up with my configurations?I also keep getting a popup that says "Connect SVCamera" while I'm trying to access different sites.

Computer Running Slowly

May 16, 2007

My computer is running very slowly, and I cannot figure out why. I defragmented, ran a virus scan, etc. I also use adaware and spybot regularly to check for spyware. Nothing seems to help. I am confused because this computer has run well up until recently. It is older we purchased it in about 2002-2003.In case this is important--it is a Dell and I'm running Windows XP.

On Starting Computer - Too Many Running Programs.

Feb 15, 2007

My problem is when I start up the computer, I have too many running programs. When I log on and all I want to do is load my desk top and click on AOL, I have all these programs I need to click thru til I can actually get to the process of getting on the internet. I thought I could go to start menu - control panel - start menu and select what I wanted to start running when I logged on to the computer, I don't see anything there that will allow me to not have spybot, spysweeper, aim, yahoo start running when I log on. I know I researched this before but cannot for the life of me remember how to start up my computer and stop all these processes from running and holding me up

Computer Running Slow: Taking Long Time For Startup & Opening Programs?

Aug 15, 2006

Our family computer is running like a slug. It takes forever to startup and open programs and the hard drive activity light is always on. It also uses up a lot of RAM for some reason but the CPU usage is normal. I have another hard drive that is in a removable tray that I use, and that has all the same settings and everything, but that one is using a fraction of the RAM and runs pretty good!

Computer Loads Slowly?

Jun 27, 2008

Recently I have noticed that my PC has been loading things really slowly. When I start my computer, there is a black screen with a loading bar at the bottom, which takes atleast five minutes to load. When I launch a game, it takes ages for it to start up and it also takes ages to join a server. I tried reformating, but it didn't help. When I was installing one of my games, I found that it took about 10 times as long to install. And while it was installing, I couldn't do anything else because it slowed everything down. It's like my RAM has been lowered or something. I am guessing it may be a hardware problem.

Analysis / Computer Seems To Run Abnormally Slowly

Aug 3, 2007

Ignore the siggie info; the problem is on a separate computer, a Compax laptop. There is 256MB physical memory and 2GB virtual memory. The C: disk has heaps of room on it.
It has Avast AV, Spybot, Adaware and Spyware Blaster and uses the XP firewall. All are up to date and all come up clean when checked. I do a monthly defrag and have Easy Cleaner and empty unnecessary files and surplus registry entries monthly. Despite all this it seems to run abnormally slowly, particularly when bringing up onboard stuff like OE, IE and other programs. Downloading internet sites seem pretty reasonable.

Two Processes Conflicting?

Jul 22, 2007

I've recently encountered an odd problem. I was using my PC one day and all of a sudden I realize of the programs and functions dont work...........eg. antivirus program disabled, no network, opening new windows when double clicking on a folder though I've set it to open in the same folder. Anyway, this is Microsoft Windows......it's suppose to mess up every now and then. So I thought I'll reboot to solve this little situation. Rebooted and back into Windows, same problem exsists. I thought stuff it.....lets re-install!!!
First thing back into Windows, things were working fine again except no drivers for VGA and icons are HUGE!!
Continued to install Nvidia platform / VGA drivers.......and weird things started happening again.....
I noticed there are 2 ODD processes running after I install the drivers, they are ............. hsowxuq.exe & xvxmpsq.exe
