I'm not sure what's wrong. When I use the internet, the pages take a really long time to load. I can't watch videos without it buffering every 15 seconds. This started a couple of days ago after I downloaded spybot search and destroy. I used it on my computer for the first time and I guess it messed something up with my configurations?I also keep getting a popup that says "Connect SVCamera" while I'm trying to access different sites.
My computer is running very slowly, and I cannot figure out why. I defragmented, ran a virus scan, etc. I also use adaware and spybot regularly to check for spyware. Nothing seems to help. I am confused because this computer has run well up until recently. It is older we purchased it in about 2002-2003.In case this is important--it is a Dell and I'm running Windows XP.
My computer has been running very slowly lately. I have 67 free gigs of space, so I wouldn't think that's the problem. It's slow in the following ways:programs seem to lag pretty badly when I have more than one open. Sometimes even when I only have one open. Could this be due to my computer's amount of RAM
I bought my dell M4300 only in July of this year off the internet!Since then i have had approx 20 BSOD, i have installed off the internet normal registry checks and i seemed to be on top of things. This is a little over my head though!Last week after a BSOD my computer started to run incrediably slowly. On loading, turning off, opening progs and even simple comands. Sometimes it runs smoother (like now) but that it worse case which is approx 80% of the time. Also sometimes on starting up it opens to a blank desktop with no icons or task bar so i have to restart.
OK, my computer has been running very slowly over the last couple of years. I took it to someone to fix but the computer is still running rather slowly. I'm not sure if there is a virus, or if any programs that are installed on it are conflicting.
My laptop has just decided to run very slowly of late.So much so that I am unable to run certain programs. Some will load up but if you try and navigate through any screens etc the program will stop working (comes up with not responding in windows task manager). This is even happening with windows explorer.I've got Norton 360, which although it should automatically boot up at start up is failing to do so.I can't even get it to run to perfom a system scan. This leads me to think I may have a nasty virus or worse still failing hardware
My computer has been working slowly lately, as well as programs becoming so slow they are non-functional watching movies halfway through. This has never happened before. My OS is XP. I have run a virus scan (McAffee), as well as Ad Aware 6, trying to fix the problem, but it has not gone away.
Running Windows XP. When starting up it takes about 20 minutes before I can use the computer - everything is like swimming through treacle. There is a lot of activity noise from 'the box'. When this has finished whirring away the computer is OK to use.
Recently I have noticed that my PC has been loading things really slowly. When I start my computer, there is a black screen with a loading bar at the bottom, which takes atleast five minutes to load. When I launch a game, it takes ages for it to start up and it also takes ages to join a server. I tried reformating, but it didn't help. When I was installing one of my games, I found that it took about 10 times as long to install. And while it was installing, I couldn't do anything else because it slowed everything down. It's like my RAM has been lowered or something. I am guessing it may be a hardware problem.
Recently my computer has been freezing and moving very slowly, my pc fan runs for an unusually long time, a lot more then it used to, and i get a black screen before my administration sign in page to log into the desktop, and then, the desktop takes another 2 minutes to fully load. I've tried uniblue registrybooster 2 and that didnt really help much even though it seemed to "fix" 630 errors i had on my computer. i posted a hijack log a week or so back and never got any replies or help so i tried to take matters into my own hand and now i seem to have made it worse.
have just installed sp2 and things are running slowly. one of the main problems is that when i try to open "my computer" i get the flashlight and it takes a few minute to open. i have looked thru ms knowledge articles relating to sp2 but nothing fits the bill.
Ignore the siggie info; the problem is on a separate computer, a Compax laptop. There is 256MB physical memory and 2GB virtual memory. The C: disk has heaps of room on it. It has Avast AV, Spybot, Adaware and Spyware Blaster and uses the XP firewall. All are up to date and all come up clean when checked. I do a monthly defrag and have Easy Cleaner and empty unnecessary files and surplus registry entries monthly. Despite all this it seems to run abnormally slowly, particularly when bringing up onboard stuff like OE, IE and other programs. Downloading internet sites seem pretty reasonable.
My computer boots slowly, loads websites slowly and goes slowly from page to page.If Flrman (or any moderator of the sight) solves this, I will be happy to make a donation to keep this site going.Lastly, how do I get to personal profile to log specs into my sig? Can't find link.
I had dial up 4 years, I finally got DSL a month agao, now instead of my computer running faster , it is running slower than dial up! I also get a message after I shut down a window, ( memory could not be read error ) sorry I forget the numbers but will copy them down when i log off. I have Windows XP Home Edition.
We run Comcast high speed, two computers running though a router setup. My son "opened a port" to speed up his game play. My computer now crawls. Pages take too long to load, and I now sometimes get the server error message here, server not responding. Any idea what I can do. My son seems baffled, but I know he doesn't want to sacrifice his warp speed game play.
Someone told me that my computer is running slow because I have too many programs running in the background. Could this be true and if so, how do I delete the unnecessary programs and more to the point, how do I recognize which programs are necessary and which are not?
My computer has been running so slooooow lately and its only seems to be getting worse. when i shut down my computer, it literally takes about 4 to 6 minutes to shut down and 2 little windows pop up while its shutting down, stating that the following programs are running and are attempting to close - one is "ccsvchst" and the other is "Ccapps" (i think). what are thay and can i remove them/shut them down so they arent in the way anymore?
I ran Ad Aware SE and later Spyawre Doctor and found nothing also clen temp. files on IE/Tools/temp folders then I ran %temp% and deleted all temp files but it gave me an Error File or Folder mon000 that says close any programs that might be using the file and try again. I don' know what file that is. there are two files that were not deleted: mon000.log and one named Dat.File pefib Perfdata Also ran ATF-cleaner
After I open Wordpad it takes 20 seconds before the cursor starts blinking and I can type. This just recently started. Any ideas as to what is causing this? It's so bothersome that I'm now using Notepad whenever possible but I'd much rather use Wordpad. I've scanned with several virus scanners and they all come up clean. Thanks
I've got xp sp2 and it's running just fine. The only problem is that it takes 5-10 seconds to open any program from a desktop shortcuts(AVG,Spyboot,Nero, Winamp). It is not a big deal but maybe somebody have some simple solution. This had been happening for the last couple of years and a few months ago I reinstalled Windows(clean install) but nothing changed.
I have Windows XP. Pentium III 866. Dell Dimension 4100.
My RAM now loads slowly upon the bios check and every time the computer starts up, I get a blue screen of death.
I have run a memory check and it appears to be clean. I have run numerous antivirus programs and the computer now appears to be clean. However, I am still getting the blue screen of death. I have tried to attached some minidump files to this post and hope that someone can help to debug them
I have Kaspersky, Registry Mechanic, PerfectDisk, Spybot, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, and Adaware. I run them all periodically, and I also regularly run CheckDisk. On top of this, however, my computer still loads slowly at the desktop (the XP splash screen only takes about 2 seconds to pass; I'm just saying it takes a long time when the PC loads at the desktop, the HDD LED staying on for about 2 minutes). What can I do to fix this?
Have WIn XP pro SP1 with 1 Gb ram. About 2 months ago I got problems with desktop startup. Initially,my icons load with a default image and then update over about 6 - 8 seconds to display the correct image. Previously the desktop opened up with all icons correctly displayed. Anyone got any suggestions as to what might be causing this ? The rest of the system seems OK, I've tried going back a couple of months with system restore.
I'm having a little problem with my USB ports. I know they are USB 2.0 but are recognized as 1.0. Everytime I plug something in, it says "this device can run faster if connected to a 2.0 port" or something like that. Is there anyway to fix this, cause im transferring data very slowly and its very annoying. I tried to update the driver but it said there is no better or newer driver available.
I have a pc running XP Pro and suddenly it became extremely slow.It takes a couple of minutes to boot up.Everything responds slow on the pc.I ran adaware , spybot and cwshredder.these programmes did find a couple of things but still the pc is very slow.
I've just started to notice that my Hard Disk has been losing 50-70mb a day. Like something hidden is slowly replicating or something. I have Norton Internet Security and Norton Anti-virus running always, and it shows nothing out of the ordinary.
