Does anyone know why my computer beeps occasionally while it's turned on? The beeps do not come from the speakers, but from the computer itself and happens when I surf the net or check my e-mail or if I'm not doing anything at all.This couldn't be connected to the errors I get from my Event Viewer...could it? BTW...is there a way to fix Event Viewer errors?

Sometimes I get programs that all of a sudden "wont respond" and have to end them and then usually restart to use again, like my MSN explorer and occasionally word or excel. Also I'm occasionally having an issue where my wireless adapter all of a sudden won't recieve any signals. There are several wireless networks in my area and all of a sudden it can't see any of them including my own.

This region lies in the Operating system's protected memory address range (0x0 - 0x9f800). This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance." I start getting this message every 10-15 minutes while playing 3D games like Left 4 dead. My system hangs or restarts from time to time (while idle or is booting). I have tested my pc with prime95, furmark, memtest, other burn-in applications. No crashes, everything looks stable.

The word "disk" scared me, so I checked the entire Event Viewer, and found 25 of these errors, from Aug 1 2005 through Sep 3 2005. If this event was cataloged earlier, I don't know, because the Event Viewer only goes back to Aug 1. I checked System Restore for Aug 1, 2005 and found a couple of things; 1) an accidental MS "update" to NVIDIA GeForce4 MX driver 5.12 -- but we've had the 6.1.7.7 driver for a long time now. The 5.12 screws up the display resolution, big time. I reinstalled the 6.17; resolution is fine; but I'm wondering if this could have something to do with the Event 51 warning. Also, on that same date, something called Software Distribution Service 2.0 is listed three times, and I don't know why. I don't even know what it is. I've researched the web, and can't find anything that seems to apply -- other than potential for a hard drive crash. Just what I don't need. Meanwhile, the entire system is working extremely well; fast and smooth; no glitches or twitches that I can detect

My issue goes along the same line but the symptoms are different.yes the beeping starts at start-up. After I have signed in with the password/ sign-in name.But the beeping is not constant. It is erratic at times. Low piches and High pitches. Sometimes at the same time and others slow and fast. The beeping happens when I start some programs but is not specifically related.And the beeping happens at any time from start up right through the use and until shut down. And times where no sound is heard for long periods.In one of the members comments was mention of the 'Event Viewer' report.

The description of an item is now like the following: "The description for Event ID (538) in Source (Security) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: IUSR_<myUser>, KIP, (0x0,0x5229A9), 3." Moreover, the category are now filled with numbers. I found on the web that the reason is probably due to some loss of permissions. i checked the .evt files and my user has full control over them.
Is there something else to check?

recently i've been getting a lot of bsod's involving win32k.sys and i81xdnt5.dll. when my computer restarts it enters two errors in the event logs. are these related to the bsod's? my os is winxp sp2.

They get their net settings from dhcp, the dns server is set there correctly.

Have just run it for the first time and it found loads of Errors and warnings. Sadly I have no idea what they mean. They refer to programmes I have never heard of and can't find on my computer.

You can send an Error Report to Microsoft. View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been away at University and have since come back and my parents are having some problems with one of the computers at home.Basically when using the computer Windows will just completely freeze up randomly, the mouse will stop moving, the keyboard will stop moving, and the clock will stop. As this happens, a noise comes from the computer which sounds the same as one of the noises when I turn the computer on, but it repeats a couple of times. It's a more mechanical whirring noise rather than an electronic beep or anything like that. It's very hard to explain - sort of like a build up of 'whirring-ness' and then a click (x I was wondering if this could be a hard drive problem for one - although I have done some diagnostics on the drive with SpeedFan and everything seems to look fine.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi seem to be having a problem with my second computer. it keeps turning off and on. it beeps when ever it turns on.i have no idea what the problem is.i was trying to reformat the drive but it would not stay on long enough to read the cd.so i was thinking it might be the harddrive. so i put another harddrive in it that i know is working fine. it does stay on but i get first the safe mode screen. it does not matter what option i pick like start windows normally or start in safe mode after i hit enter i get a blue screen telling me windows has shut down to protect my system from a fatal error. it tells me to check my harddrive for viruses or errors. my problem is i don't know how to get past that blue screen to check my harddrive. i have to turn the computer off. it happens every time i turn it on.i would give you a log report but i can't make one.

The beeping is not consistant and periodically beeps in a different tone. I repartioned and reformated the disk but I still have the problem. Is there any one with an idea of what might cause this. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having really bad computer troubles recently and really need some help, cause I've wracked my brain trying to think of possible solutions here.To give a bit of background:The computer in question is an AMD Athlon 1800+ that I've had for about 3 years now. It's not the most stellar computer, but I mainly use it to surf the web and play some low-end games nothing spectacular.Recently however it had started to reboot constantly, and eventually just power off and never come back on. I figured it was the power supply, so I purchased a new 400W one, installed it and everything was working great.Fast-forward a couple weeks later, and I started to hear a really odd noise coming from the computer. It sounded almost as if sparks were flying around inside, but I removed the case and checked what the problem was, and it seemed the CPU cooling fan was having some troubles, and eventually stopped working. So just today I went out and bought a new CPU cooling fan, installed it, and again, everything was working fine.
However, just tonight, the computer began to reboot randomly again, and now it is at the point where it will not turn on, and when I do power it on, it just idles and beeps constantly. They are fairly short beeps, but they continue on and on indefinitely. I read up on the beep codes and how they coordinate with the BIOS setting, but problem is I have no idea which BIOS setting I have, so I am not sure what could be the problem. To be safe, I began to unplug the cards one by one, seeing if any of them stopped the beeping, but to no avail.So I am at a total loss here Having just bought those two things recently and STILL having the computer act like a pile of garbage is disheartening to say the least, and I just hope someone may have an idea on what or how I could fix this.
I have a random beeping noise coming from inside my computer. It happens daily, for no specific reason I can think of... it sometimes beeps when Im away from the computer.I say inside the computer, because I have the volume muted and I still hear it loud and clear, like a warning beep.I searched a few posts already, but cant seem to find a solution.
