Beeping Sound When Computer Restarted
Sep 17, 2009
So my computer was knocked by an object my brother threw at it, and now something seems to be wrong. When you restart it, It tries to boot but comes to a black screen with a message saying "Drive 0 not found: Serial ATA, SATA-0 Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility".Im not a computer genius, so simple language.

I downloaded some automatic updates and restarted my puter as instructed. However, when I restarted the computer it continuosly restarted and restarted just as it got to the desktop. So I started up in safe mode thinking i could restore back to before I installed the updates. But it seems W2k doesn't have this capability, so i uninstalled the latest Windows update I found on my puter. Okay, I can get to the desktop but my Internet connection no longer works and the browser just keeps popping open windows like it has constant hiccups or something. I bought this puter second hand so I don't have any disks or anything. Does anyone have any ideas? Are these components I uninstalled located somewhere on the HD where i can retrieve them and maybe undo this mess?

My problem is that despite downloading pretty much every possible sound driver on the Toshiba website that it says is meant to work for Windows XP, none of them seem to make the sound work. All I get in the place of sound is that obnoxious beeping noise. When I install the drivers, most of them state that a sound device was not detected but I am perfectly sure that I have a sound device because the sound worked amazingly well when I still had Vista, or they simply 'install' and just dissappear and have no obvious effect.

On the system startup, my speakers suddenly produced a high pitched beeping noise. I've tried using a different set of speakers, but the result was the same. I'm not sure what exactly is wrong, but I had recently installed a more updated video driver and a wireless keyboard/mouse. I've tried uninstalling both the video driver and the wireless set (switching back to the old keyboard and mouse), but there was still the beeping noise. Surprisingly, when I mute the master volume the beeping noise stops. Also, the noise applies only to the input speaker (the speaker which has the cable connecting to the computer) and not the other one. I am able to listen to music using the other speaker, but the volume is drastically lowered. My guess was that there was something interfering (such as the wireless mouse and keyboard) with the sound card(?), but since I have uninstalled them (now using again because it is obviously not the problem) and there were no changes, I have no idea what could possibly be wrong.

earlier today I was installing Perfect Disk and right at the end of the installation, my computer restarted. After that each time Windows started up it would only get as far as the "Loading Personal Settings" part and it would restart again before I even get a chance to see my desktop.Figuring it was something to do with the failed installation of Perfect-disk, I entered Windows in safe mode (Without any restarts) and I disabled the loading of anything related to Perfect Disk. This didn't fix the problem and I tried disabling every single program on start up and that didn't fix anything either.I've attached the dump files from the Mini dump folder if that helps with the problem.

I have spent most of my day working on my computer and with not a lot of success. For a few weeks I have been having an error message appear when we restart the computer regarding xprt5.dll and the application can not be found.I have googled and checked out a ton of sites about fixing this and how it relates to AOL.And an emergency virus scan earlier today when my computer would not boot back up.I also had or have a virus where I am getting a ton of bounced back emails regarding drugs for sale being sent to people not in my address book. Earlier today I did a full scan with Norton, fixed the problems but then my live update was not working. So after speaking to a customer rep. from Symantec we removed Norton and I downloaded the 7.2 version and again ran another scan which came up clean. We un-installed AOL and then reinstalled it after checking out the site that you listed in a previous post, but still to no avail we get the error message and again tonight I am having bounced back emails with virus warnings.

I've been away at University and have since come back and my parents are having some problems with one of the computers at home.Basically when using the computer Windows will just completely freeze up randomly, the mouse will stop moving, the keyboard will stop moving, and the clock will stop. As this happens, a noise comes from the computer which sounds the same as one of the noises when I turn the computer on, but it repeats a couple of times. It's a more mechanical whirring noise rather than an electronic beep or anything like that. It's very hard to explain - sort of like a build up of 'whirring-ness' and then a click (x I was wondering if this could be a hard drive problem for one - although I have done some diagnostics on the drive with SpeedFan and everything seems to look fine.

i seem to be having a problem with my second computer. it keeps turning off and on. it beeps when ever it turns on.i have no idea what the problem is.i was trying to reformat the drive but it would not stay on long enough to read the cd.so i was thinking it might be the harddrive. so i put another harddrive in it that i know is working fine. it does stay on but i get first the safe mode screen. it does not matter what option i pick like start windows normally or start in safe mode after i hit enter i get a blue screen telling me windows has shut down to protect my system from a fatal error. it tells me to check my harddrive for viruses or errors. my problem is i don't know how to get past that blue screen to check my harddrive. i have to turn the computer off. it happens every time i turn it on.i would give you a log report but i can't make one.

I have a Gateway computer with Windows XP. As soon as XP starts to load the system board speaker starts to beep. The beeping is not consistant and periodically beeps in a different tone. I repartioned and reformated the disk but I still have the problem. Is there any one with an idea of what might cause this. It does not appear to be heat.

I've been having really bad computer troubles recently and really need some help, cause I've wracked my brain trying to think of possible solutions here.To give a bit of background:The computer in question is an AMD Athlon 1800+ that I've had for about 3 years now. It's not the most stellar computer, but I mainly use it to surf the web and play some low-end games nothing spectacular.Recently however it had started to reboot constantly, and eventually just power off and never come back on. I figured it was the power supply, so I purchased a new 400W one, installed it and everything was working great.Fast-forward a couple weeks later, and I started to hear a really odd noise coming from the computer. It sounded almost as if sparks were flying around inside, but I removed the case and checked what the problem was, and it seemed the CPU cooling fan was having some troubles, and eventually stopped working. So just today I went out and bought a new CPU cooling fan, installed it, and again, everything was working fine.
However, just tonight, the computer began to reboot randomly again, and now it is at the point where it will not turn on, and when I do power it on, it just idles and beeps constantly. They are fairly short beeps, but they continue on and on indefinitely. I read up on the beep codes and how they coordinate with the BIOS setting, but problem is I have no idea which BIOS setting I have, so I am not sure what could be the problem. To be safe, I began to unplug the cards one by one, seeing if any of them stopped the beeping, but to no avail. So I am at a total loss here Having just bought those two things recently and STILL having the computer act like a pile of garbage is disheartening to say the least, and I just hope someone may have an idea on what or how I could fix this.

Ive been having this problem on another computer for a few months already but now since it started to happen on this computer i decided to ask why and what to do to stop this.

I have a random beeping noise coming from inside my computer. It happens daily, for no specific reason I can think of... it sometimes beeps when Im away from the computer.I say inside the computer, because I have the volume muted and I still hear it loud and clear, like a warning beep.I searched a few posts already, but cant seem to find a solution. Someone mentioned it might be the fan. Can someone be so kind to run me through the HOW TO turn off the Smart Fan thingy (hehehe...Im a beginner...I really dont know what Im talking about lol)I think Im suppose to go into BIOS and turn something off, but I dont even know how to do that. I follow instructions very well, so if you could talk me through it, I can give it a go without having to take it to someone.

Does anyone know why my computer beeps occasionally while it's turned on? The beeps do not come from the speakers, but from the computer itself and happens when I surf the net or check my e-mail or if I'm not doing anything at all. This couldn't be connected to the errors I get from my Event Viewer...could it? BTW...is there a way to fix Event Viewer errors?

my computer will just reboot itself every couple of days. When it asks for my password, it says it cannot display my profile because of an error or maybe a corrupt file (but not in those words exactly). The computer says it will give me a temporary profile but if it is rebooted, anything that I have saved on this temporary profile will go away forever. This is true?

This is about sound issues from the computer as in cant get sound from the computer.Went to computer properties then multi media controller has yellow question mark next to it so tried to update driver it goes to the wizard but it will not find any drivers for it without a cd which dont have. Tried roll back drivers says no drivers are backed up on file. Went to sound audio video game controllers audio codecs says all the codecs are working for this computer. Control panel sound audio says no sound device is connected. The sound card is realtek ALC655 AC 97 enhanced audio controller. Again got these drivers from foxxconn and exactly same issues. Extracted the files easily enough from wizard but when go to exe run folder the run it says cannot find setupfilex.dll. Then go to gxdver it dont do anything. Go to exe icon run and logger then it goes cannot run please find the setup exe file from the directory. In the folders cannot seem to find anything that will install the actual drivers without a conflicting issue somewhere. So everytime download this compressed driver folders for the drivers it has problems when the files are extracted. The sound card is enabled and mutli media controller says code 28 drivers not installed.

my XP install started acting up and whenever it loaded the XP boot screen, my HDD light stayed on, and after a couple of minutes, my computer restarted itself. To find the problem, I started XP in safe mode, and it went to load up till a file mup.sys(?), can't remember. I re-plugged my SATA cable (I have a Samsung SpinPoint 160GB on a MSI P965 Neo-F running a Core 2 Duo E6600 at stock clocks), switched the cable, and checked that my mobo's bios was emulating the RAID device on IDE. The thing is, every other OS finds my HDD (even Win 2000!): Linux, Vista, Mac OS-X (I was desperate). I'm running openSUSE 10.2 right now, and I desperately need Windows back! My dad won't let me install Vista yet.

While in some web pages, I click on a hyperlink, I sometimes get a quick two-note (low, higher) beep and the link does not come up. Some hyperlinks work and some do not in the same page. I asked tech help from my server what was happening. He thought it might be my pop-up stopper but disabling it did not help. He then thought I probably needed a Java applet which I downloaded, but it didn't help.
