while I was in the diplay settings of the control panel, I accidentally changed the DPI from normal to the highest in windows XP -now the fonts are so small that I can't change it again-any.
One day, not sure how, I pushed some key while on a credit card website and all of a sudden the font became very small (like half the size of this) !! It affected every site I go to. I don't really know how to explain it, but I can't read most websites anymore including this one.
Fonts are way too Small and the choice of Colors I can hardly see to Read anything here anymore! Sometimes, some things are just best left alone I know ever who did all this worked hard and meant well
I have problems if I try and run the display settings above 800x600. I was wondering if this would be fixed if I upgrade the firmware settings and if so where would I get these upgrades? Whenever I try and run it at a higher display setting all I get is a thing saying "Signal isnt compatible with this display setting".
I recently uninstalled what I thought were some unnecessary fonts on my XP SP2 notebook, but began having serious display problems in some apps and dialog boxes, the text being either much too small or large.I've trimmed the Fonts folder in the past with no problems, but this time I seem to have majorly screwed the pooch. Even after reinstalling all fonts, the problems persist.
I have utilized the Windows XP Multilingual User Interface Pack to change from English to Hebrew. My problem is, at startup, the desktop shows the icons very well, but the writing is terrible. I am trying to determine how to change to a better font so I can read the letters.
I was in a program that ran a 1280X1024 4XAaliasing 32 bit color and I was also watching a movie from netflix in the background(talk about multitasking). My normal desktop settings are 1024X768 16 bit color. I switched to view a nice scene in the movie to the movie and then switched back to the program. Problem was when I switched to the program the computer sort of pinged 3 times quickly and then reset. Now in various odd places instead of text I see odd shapes like empty white or black squares, circles, lines or triangles/arrows. It's sort of like wingdings characthers or like characthers that the computer doesn't recognize. Immediately after the restart I switched the DPI in display setting from like 95-96 to 120DPI.
I change the font for my emails? I know I can change them on an individual basis, email by email; but I'd like to know where I can find the controller. Like why do I have to have Ariel as a font?
1.How do I change the fonts of the folders and files showing in Windows Explorer so that they are bold?2. How do I change the title bar at the very top of an application to become a little wider? I made the mistake of surveying accessibility options and this bar became too narrow and I can't seem to get it back to its original width?3. Finally, it seems that only the newsgroups to which I subscribe in Outlook Express are currently listed in bold type. How can I get my Local Folders to appear the same way?
If I try to change the font in an email message by highlighting the word and clicking tools the font from the drop down menu, I get the following error message. An error has ocurred in this dialog. Error: 501 Permission denied.
My XP is currently defaulted on it's display settings 640v by 480 pixels and will not allow me to change it. In fact, there is nothing to change it to. I dont know what file I must of deleted, but is there anyway I can download the driver or something to make it so that it can be set on opitions that are higher?
I reinstalled XP Pro with SP1 on my computer today. Everything is working well except when my desktop loads the actual display is about an inch to the right on the screen. If I go into properties and change/apply the screen resolution from 800 x 600 then back to 1024 x 768 it realigns and all is well. I would just prefer to not have to do that each time I restart windows.
Windows display setting keeps resetting after startup On startup of my computer the monitor screen displays normal sized icons, then enlarges to gigantic icons. After all programs are started I right click on the screen and click on properties. Display properties open, then I click on settings and move the slider to my likings, I click apply and the desktop reverts to normal size and operates in all areas normally. The problem is I have to perform this task every time I restart my computer. It's obvious that the apply/ok setting in the display properties setting is not sticking. Is there a fix for this condition? Please HELP. Running Windows XP.

I have a Dell D610 laptop running WinXP Pro. The screen is an SXGA+ (1400x1050 resolution). I have a docking station at home and use a 19" wide screen LCD monitor (1440x900). My docking station at work has a 23" wide screen LCD monitor (1920x1200). The laptop and home 19" monitor look good at normal size (96 DPI) setting. However, the large 23" monitor needs the Display DPI Setting increased to large size (120 DPI) for my old eyes.
The problem is having to constantly change between normal and large display DPI settings. This change requires a reboot to take effect. Is there a program or script available that will run at startup and allow me to choose the DPI setting? Even better would be a startup script that detects which monitor is in use and sets the display DPI accordingly.
My new Toshiba laptop, am cleaning the what, the junk outta it. Somehow my old GTWY desktop had like 500 fonts and was slowing the machine, finally removed 125 or so and its OK.BUT The Toshiba has TWO separate directorys chock full of fonts, most of them duplicates! Each has its own directory with a slightly diff name
I fixed this problem a few months ago, now it back and I forgot what i did.(rolling eyes) The display setting seems to be fixed at 640x480 lowest 4 bits color quality When I try to change it to 1280x1024 highest 32 bits and hit "apply" is reverses itself back to 640x480. 4 bits or 1280x1024 stays there but the bits goes to lowest 4 What to do? The monitor dpi set at 96 with nividia forcefx5500 "device is working properly"
I just replaced a power supply on a Windows XP computer and when it boots up, the os loads just fine, the startup programs begin to load and during this the display settings automatically change from 800x600 32-bit color to 640x480 8-bit color. It has a GeForce 440 MX card and all the drivers and such are working fine. I've tried everything fix it, but am having a less than fun time. Any suggestions would be great.
I was trying to improve my monitor display and did something that is causing text fields to be blacked out. I can see icons and what I think are highlighted text but most of it is all black so I can't see the settings to try to fix??? The monitor works fine and the XP start up graphics are normal. It's just once the desktop is loaded.
I installed a new software, Volkswagen ETKA 7 from Germany. After installing, it appears as if it took away my administrators privileges. I cannot right click, all of my autocomplete fileds are gone including passwords, IE7 will not let me change any setting, lost my favorites, lost my icons for OE and many others. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I am still logged in as system administartor, but I do not have all of the priveleges I should. I just noticed the Content Advisor in IE7 is greyed out. Someone knows how to fix this. Please help. I have since uninstalled the VW ETKA7 software.
I'd like to permanently set my open and save file dialogue boxes to display thumbnails instead of the usual list display but can't find any way to do this (the folder options setting doesn't appear to affect this aspect of windows XP).

My Brother's computer when he turns it on he waits for the desktop to loaded it appears that system is making the graphics go to 640*480 and it's original desktop is 1280*1024. When we change it back to 1280*1024 and then try to restart the computer, It restarts then it goes back to 640*480.
