Change Display Setting Makes Fonts Small
Nov 23, 2009while I was in the diplay settings of the control panel, I accidentally changed the DPI from normal to the highest in windows XP -now the fonts are so small that I can't change it again-any.

May 31, 2007I'm having an EXTREMELY frustrating problem on both FireFox and IE. For some reason certain text in some places is bigger than the text in other places. Let me give you an example:

See the two different size fonts? They should be the same size, but they aren't! I've had this problem for months on this machine and I've tried furiously to get rid of it. Of course, I've tried messing around with the general font size (Ctrl & +/-), but here's an example of what happens:

Jun 26, 2005There seem to be 2 places in IE to change font size, Tools | Internet Options; Fonts to select the web & plain text fonts and Accessibility to select or ignore font styles & sizes. I simply cannot find the right combination to be able to have consistent
fonts on all pages. If I check "ignore font size" then the pages use my font but the font seems to vary from web page to web page. I have to click the "size" button on the toolbar. With this unchecked some web pages have really BIG fonts and some have such small fonts that I cannot read them and have to select the "ignore font size" again.

Mar 23, 2006I recently had some problems with some viruses and stuff and my system was still a bit "off" even after I removed them. Luckily I have Acronis True image and was able to revert back to a nice state of operation. As nice and clean as my system is right now I find that not everything is still not hunky. Some fonts stay the wrong sizes and other cosmetic things, so I have decided I should also run the Windows XP repair option again just to make everything right. My question is..What can I expect after I run it? Will all of my applications stilll function etc?

During the first 5 minutes after boot-up, screen resolution on my desk top is unstable with icon and window sizes changing from large to small and vice-versa. Resetting the Display Properties during this time has no effect. When the system warms up the problem is gone. Can the Monitor itself be the problem, or is it most likely the Video Card? Oct 5, 2008I just finished a complete reinstall of Windows XP. Before the re-installation, I partitioned the hard drive. I want the basic Windows XP system files and drivers on my "C" drive and then I want to accumulate data files (word processing, spreadsheets, photos, music files, etc.) on the new partition which in this case has been labeled the "G" drive. The difficulty I am having is getting getting the "Documents and Settings" to move over to the "G" drive. So that when I want to load photographs from my camera to the computer it goes for C:Documents and SettingsMy NameMy DocumentsMy Pictures. Instead I would like it to go to G:Documents and SettingsMy NameMy DocumentsMy Pictures. Using Windows Explorer I changed the file name of "My Documents" to 'Windows XP old path My Documents" and then I was going to set up a new path to the "G" drive through Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Managment>Disk Management.
However I noticed that when I clicked on Start in the bottom left hand corner and it puts up that little window that "My Documents" which was listed now had the new title 'Windows XP old path My Documents' which I believe means I haven't gotten to the proper place to change the main configuration for Documents and Settings. Long way of saying how do I change the basic configuration for where Document and Settings are stored to a new location.

Sep 12, 2005My computer has win xp home and win office xp. Recently I downloaded some additional fonts from a website. After downloading the download is sitting on my desktop as a compressed file. My problem is after unzipping the file I don't seem to be able to get it loaded in to the win. font file..Doesn't seem overly difficult but has me stumped.

I decided not to do this after all and figured I'd delete the temporary folder from my D drive but it will not remove 2 of the fonts: arialbi and micross, so now I'm stuck with a temporary folder in my D drive. I booted up in safe mode and tried to delete them and can't do it that way, either. How do I get rid of this temporary folder?
