I Cannot Enable Mcafee Firewall Or Virus Scan. Error Message Says To Re-install Active Shield Or If I Started Pc In Safe Mode To Restart In Normal Mode To Enable Firewall Or Virus Scan.
I Accidentally Clicked A Folder That Started Installing Mcafee Virus Scan. I Realized That I Already Have Mcafee Virus Scan Included And Installed As Part Of Aol Safety And Security System. I Couldn't Cancel This Unintended Beginning Of The Installation So I Shut Down My Computer. Now, Every Time I Boot I Get A Prompt Sound And A Small Window Entitled Macafee Virus Scan Which Says Missing Resourse Dll, Please Re Install. My Uniblue Registry Booster Couldn't Eliminate.
The following is repeat of a previous post I put out there. I am still having the same problem and my anti virus, when it does run, says my computer is virus free. Whenever I run McAfee virus scan version 10 my computer completely shuts down at some point during the scan. However if I reboot and run scan a second time it runs fine. I am using Windows XP with all updates installed.
I removed (manually, as the uninstaller was not able to do it) McAfee Firewall from my pc and installed Zone Alarm Suite, but Security Center keeps to tell me "one of the firewalls installed is working".I would like to make Windows understand there is just a firewall installed and working. Is there the way? Which Registry Keys do I remove?
I've got Windows XP and when I try and remove McAfee using the 'add/remove programs' Uninstaller, it comes up with an error message (no number - just 'an error has occured while trying to uninstall McAfee Security System'). I have succesfully uninstalled other components of McAfee, like the spamkiller and firewall, but can't get rid of this last bit, which I need to do to install my new software. I've also tried uninstalling from the start menu but no option comes up under the programme list.
Occasionally when I start up, The Icon in the system tray for McAfee turns to black and says firewall disabled. I have run a full virus scan, Spybot, Adaware and Spy doctor. nothing has been found that would suggest a problem. Any ideas as to why? It's not every time and only at start up. I am running XP Home, McAfee version 5. Once running no problems.
I have run virus scan, Adaware and Spybot and nothing is found yet the computer runs slow. Statup takes a long time and while it is loading things the firewall disables until after everything in startup loads. Lately I have had problems when docking my iPod. It just undocks on it's own and nothing is touching it or the cable connecting it to the computer. I ran Hijack this but no sure how to interpret it. I am running Windows 2k pro on a Compaq Presario.
I have a pc with xp pro sp2 where i cannot enable/disable firewall, it is controlled by domain group policy. I log on with a user with admin rights on the domain and local machine, with gpo i can enable/disable firewall, but I want to control that from the local machine, how can I get it?
I have my winXP firewall enabled and at the same time, zonealarm. Will it have a conflict? Do I need to disable WinXP firewall? Or can I have the two running at the same time?
Hi just joined this forum today to see if anyone kind enought can help me out The problem is one of my drives has a virus,i have done a complete scan with online virus scans such as panda Trend micro housecall etc, i have used my norton program too but when these programs carry out a full system scan ,it gets to a certain point my computer makes a clicking noise for a second then my screen freezes up i cant move the mouse pointer basicaly screen freezes. i know i have some infected files but i dont know which ones are infected as the virus scan dosnt finish and show end results
first of all, under the settings for window's firewall, i am not able to choose whether or not i want to enable it or disable it. it is set as disabled and both the enable/disable buttons are greyed out and i cannot click it. second, my auto update keeps turning itself off. after setting it back on, it will turn off the next time i boot my computer. third, i'm having some networking problems. i can connect onto the other computers of my network, however the other computers cannot connect to me. are all these problems related in anyway?
I got a virus, McAfee cleaned them and now today I cannot open task manager. It opens then closes that fast. McAfee still finds no viruses. I've ran ewido 2 days ago and spybot. IE sometimes doesn't load and I cannot access the resistry from RunRegedit.exe, it also opens then closes.
I am running windows 2k pro and I just recently did an online renewal for Mcafee anti virus. After I finished the online renewal and the upgrade was downloaded I was prompted to restart my computer. I did. Now my computer is in a continuous reboot loop. There is a screen that flashes an error message " physical memory dump" during the continuous reboot. I no longer have my windows 2k pro disk to do a restore

security center informs me that my anti virus is not enable. when checking this and going back opening the security center it now tells me that antivirus is enable even though i have not touch anything. also I have the built in xp firewall turned off but it is displayed as on in the security center.
I recently did a virus scan on my cpu and deleted an important system function now i get a system error c0000218 (Registry File not found)
So i have the windows xp cd but my drive hasnt been readin anything lately ! it wont boot it at all. i dont know what to do. my drive isnt dead i dont think it still makes noise and opens and closes on command and it lights up still. i need to get my drive to work so i can fix my hard drive.
I was running a virus scan using AVG free it nearly completed then crashed to a reboot, this has happened before, but upon restart it went through the usual "System has recovered from a serious problem would you like to send an error report" which I did, it transferred the report to Microsoft and instead of the windows oca (Online crash analysis) site I got a window on the screen showing the web address for oca saying that "The application was not found"
pc is sounding very strange sometimes, just now all that is running is virus scan and AOL, I have had a look at the task manager and on the CP usage hist. the graph is very high.Is this normal as I do not remember this groaning before.
I keep getting a message from the toolbar in the bottom right corner of my screen stating my computer is infected. "The system has detected virus activities". I have run a virus scan with my Norton's antivirus which fixed 4 infected files. I then ran Ewido anti-malware whcih fixed another 4 infected files but I' am still getting the message my computer is infected. I ran killjackthis and saved the report but cannot tell from the entires what might be causing the problem. I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

hey, my computer have been acting up lately and its EXTREMELY slow right now, ive tried everything that i could think of, running virus scans and system cleaning scans..ive deleted/removed programs that i dont need but i still have this problem...also pop-up's come up all the time even when the computer is just sitting there at least 20 pops up and i do have panicware pop_up stopper but i quess it doesnt seem to work..i also have a problem with my computer just shutting down on me and then rebooting going to the screen where you sign in at.
A friend was being bombarded with pop-ups, so I ran two programs which I use on my own computer and have installed on many others; they are "Spybot" and "AdAware." He is running Windows XP Pro. This friend of mine does not go to porn or gaming sites (and I found no evidence that he did), or gambling sites, with the exception of one casino site that has never caused any problems for him
The first time I ran Spybot, it detected 249 problems but couldn't remove some because they were running at the time of the scan, and gave me a choice of running Spybot again the next time the computer was started. I chose yes and it found 197 problems this time and couldn't fix 30 of them. I chose yes again to run Spybot on the next boot, and this time it said that it could not fix 44 problems. I ran RegCleaner and it took out some files but I didn't count them. I then ran Norton WinDoctor which found and fixed eight problems. I followed this with a scan with AdAware, which found 1,083 problems!! It could not fix 235 of them and on the reboot it could not fix 177 of them. The next scan showed 168 problems and could not fix 60 of them on reboot. When I rebooted, a Welcome screen requiring a password for the Username "Owner" came up so I called the guy and asked him if he had ever used a password with this system, and he said no. Now I cannot get into his system at all!
I have a proble+m with +my keyboard. When I hit certain keys +my co+mputer does strange things. Here's a list of things I've found wrong:
"u" brings up windows standby +mode. "end" places a period where the cursor is. "m" types +m "7" opens my IE home page right bracket - shuts down windows
I haven't knowingly changed and key settings. Virus scan co+mes up negative.
I download the full version of sp2 here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en and I will burn this one file on a cd so:Can I just double click on this one file and it will install without being on the internet? Will this one file install everything I need to update my xp pro to sp2?I did all the ad-ware and virus scan and defrag, so I hope this one file works
