I currently have xp pro loaded on my computer but it was a bad install and i want to install xp home which i like a bit more. When i go to install xp home, it won't let me because it automatically assumes i want to upgrade and i can't choose a clean install. I can't boot from my cd rom so i can't go through bios.
After recovering from a Windows XP Home SP2 crash, I received a message to reinstall iTunes. When I tried to uninstall in Add/Remove Programs, in preparation for reinstalling, the UninstallShield Wizard came up and then disappeared with no follow-on.
I have XP Media Center Edition 2002 or 2005 (not sure which) edition on a dell desktop and I have problems with Media Edition so I'd like to go to plain XP home edition. If I buy and run the XP Home upgrade, will that work on top of MCE?
I seem to have never been off these boards since I took over my husband's computer after he died in February. It is almost new and I gave my own two year old model to a needy friend.I had my friendly neighbourhood computer guy who "fixes" things for me, to transfer all my files and programmes from one to the other. One of the several items which I can't find is my iTunes. Over the years I have compiled a fairly comprehensive list of music which I downloaded to my iPod. Now my iPod has died of old age and apparently will cost more than it's worth to repair. I don't mind buying a new iPod but i do want my tunes back.
I have a Compaq Presario with XP. I responded to update iTunes, and it wouldn't recognize I have XP. Now I lost the iTunes that I had installed, and have nothing. Spysweeper I went to upgrade and got error ''We have detected Windows 98 or Windows Me as your operating system. We recommend that you download a version of Spy Sweeper 4.5 that supports your operaton system'.
I keep getting this message when I try to download itunes, and I have two brand new ipod nano's that I can't use until this problem is solved. My computer is a ComPaq Presario 6000, built in 2002, with Windows xp home edition. could not open key Hkey_local_machinesoftwareclasses.cddaopen with progIds. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
My Windows XP and iTunes seem to conflict with each other. My purchased songs stick or studder sometimes when I play them and visit websites at the same time.
Ok this morning i downloaded the new itunes 7 an when I went to use it the songs were all distorted an it locks up my system. So if youre thinking of downloading it I wouldn't do it. an does anyone know where I can get a link to the itunes 6.
I recently received a laptop that someone needs me to fix. The problem is that it seems at some point that some kind of update was interrupted during the process and the system will not load unless a windows xp professional edition disk is inserted to complete the update. I also cannot get it to start in safe mode. Unfortunately, I only have a home edition disk. Can I reformat XP pro with a home edition disk? If not, are there any other options?
I've been having a small problem with Roxio's Easy CD Creater 6. I installed the program on my computer an I was able to burn Cds and DVDs ok. Then I installed iTunes to connect to my iPod. I then tried to use Roxio and it could not find my DVD RW drive!! I then uninstalled Roxio and then installed it again. I could then find the DVD RW drive but iTunes said it could not initiallize the drivers to burn CDs. How do I setup my computer so I can use multiple CD/DVD buring software packages?

I wanted to remove iTunes from my PC, but my PC complained that it couldn't find missing "strings". I attempted a reinstall, but got "1628 installation failed " message. When my PC boots up however, it loads iTunesHelper and iPodService and mDNSResponder and there are shortcuts on the desktop, but no entry in the Add/Remove Programs list. I have followed the advice on Consumer Install Shield (eg emptied temp folder, tried to use the Windows install clean up tool) but still can neither install, nor unistall iTunes, nor Quicktime. i have Win XP with SP2, Soundblaster Audigy,Athlon 1800+, ATI Radeon 9600
from my limewire i bring the music into my iTunes library and was wondering if there was a program or somethign that scan my library and complete artist, song name, cd, and album, and all the other data without having to go through all my songs and find the info.
Cannot download latest i-tunes/quicktime program. Error message directs me to install latest version "isscript.msi". Same error. Even Loaded new driver. Same error..."install script engine on this machine is older than the version required to run set-up." I have no other downloading problems.
I have an Insignia D400A, 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor, 512 MB RAM, 64 MB Video Memory running Windows XP Home SP2. I was curious if I could defrag my hard disk while I am listening to music using iTunes. I only have one hard disk and all the music is on that hard disk.
Apple introduced a new social network in the latest version of iTunes called Ping that allows you to "follow your favorite artists and friends to discover the music they're talking about." If you are a music junkie that does not use Facebook you will love the service, for everyone else, almost all of the features already exist in the Facebook world. Although using Facebook may not be as elegant as using Ping, it is worth the few extra clicks to avoid another separate list of friends and likes.
I installed Windows Vista 64 at one point, but my wireless usb adapter didn't have any drivers for windows vista 64 so I reformatted my entire hd and reinstalled win xp home. anyway, the problem is I cannot install the new version of iTunes, openoffice, and Steam. There's probably more programs out there that I cannot install, so I really want to resolve this issue as it is very annoying. everytime I try to install any of these programs i get this message. "The installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."
I'm trying to install iTunes in order to use my iPod Shuffle. I posted in another forum and got some help but I haven't solved the problem yet. Here is the error message I get when I try to install iTunes: "The Windows Installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you run Windows in Safe Mode or if the Windows Insstaller is not correctly installed."It's not in safe mode. I was told to check that Windows Installer was set to "automatic." It was not. I changed to automatic and restarted but got the same error as above when I tried to install iTunes again
Wondering which versions of XP can Access which other versions of XP.Specifically, can media center edition access media center edition , or do one or both OS's have to be XP PRO. My understanding is that XP Home cannot access or be accessed via Remote Access.

i have a question about the Home edition sp2, as i known, this version only can support HT with single core, but now i face a problem is that it can support dual core(Yohan) , so about this case, does the Home edition really support dual core in one package? or just it cannot support dual core with individual package?
Can anyone who uses the Windows XP Professional 64 bit Edition OS,give me there opinions on it. What it is like compared to the 32 bit version. Any comments regarding your experience with the OS will be welcome.
What is the BEST Registry Cleaner out there? Does Microsoft have one we can download for free? Or do they recommend one? OTHERWISE what's the BEST one out there?

Anyway, when upgrading from Windows XP Home Edition to Windows XP Pro earliler this week, everything seemed to work fine and all the program icons I had from Windows XP Home appeared on the XP Pro desktop. However, my Internet Broadband/Dial-Up connection dissapeared from 'Network Connections' and I therefore could not connect to the internet, even though the ISP ('BT Broadband' - I'm based in the UK in case you wonder who BT are) icon remained on my desktop and their software appeared in Programs.
When I contacted my ISP they claimed this is a problem with Windows XP upgrade to Pro and I should contact Microsoft Support. Is this true?
Anyway, I've had to resort to doing a clean install of Windows XP Home again now in order to get back on the internet with my Broadband internet and installing my ISP's USM Modem software all over again. It worked, but still want to upgrade to XP Pro.
Any ideas on how this 'problem' can be resovled. Don't want to have to do a clean install again and again. Also, is It this a common problem with upgrading to Windows XP Pro from Windows XP Home as my ISP claim ?
