I have an Insignia D400A, 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor, 512 MB RAM, 64 MB Video Memory running Windows XP Home SP2.
I was curious if I could defrag my hard disk while I am listening to music using iTunes. I only have one hard disk and all the music is on that hard disk.
I have a really weird problem, when i listen to a music i get buzzing really weird noises when i try to scroll or do other things like when using internet and clicking on links. I use headphones and my sound card is Sound Blaster

On my old (and I do mean old: win98, 64mb ram, etc) computer when I listened to music my system sounds were muted, which was really nice. My old computer had an older soundblaster sounds card. My new computer (xp home) has onboard sound and when I listen to music I still get to hear all the system sounds, etc (ie, cards being dealt in solitaire.) Did it have something to do with my sound card on my old system?

i was just playing some music on itunes and once again it gave me the blue screen, now im use to it always doing this when running any media software or watching videos online etc. i got a message i never seen b4 so i just would like someone to tell me if i can disable whatever it is thats causing it.

from my limewire i bring the music into my iTunes library and was wondering if there was a program or somethign that scan my library and complete artist, song name, cd, and album, and all the other data without having to go through all my songs and find the info.

What i want to do is to make my Hard Disk Drive as my My Music folder: Whenever you click or go into My Music, it will act as a shortcut and head straight to the Hard Disk Drive. The reason for this is so I have a Hard Disk Drive full of music while my original HDD has all the other stuff. Also My Music is a special windows folder so I would like to keep that if possible when doing this.

Trouble unistalling itunes and itunes helper. I'm cleaning out for some space and rid myself of programs I don't use.I've tried to uninstall itunes and itunes helper I have used windows add/remove program to no avail. Tried numerous times but it/they remain, even though it says complete. Reboot etc. nothing. Any tricks or procedures or to get rid of it/them for good?

not sure what that means...my system restore points also dont work but otherwise the computer is running smoothly...just afraid that my hard drive could crash again!

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've switched from Windows XP to Windows 2000, because of the fact that I had problems with the GIS program I was working with. Everything went well for a month now, until today. I've uninstalled several programs (not major ones - just mapviewers) to gain more space on the c-drive. I wanted to defrag the c-drive and it gave me an error message "drfgntfs.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You have to restart the program. An error log is being created." I then close defrag and another error message appears "mmc.exe has generated error " the same as above. What am I suppose to do in order to "correct" this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been defraging my Hard drives on a semi regular basis. seems that after using Norton's Speed disk and after rebooting the sensor warning remains as before. After waiting hours for the process to complete, using windows defrag tells me that the drives should be defraged. Cannot bring the sensor percent number down. I recall reading some where that xp defrag and Nortons speed disk can't get along , so I would like to uninstall windows defrag and see if this helps, How do I uninstall windows defrag?
View 9 Replies View RelatedOn my Sony laptop, I can use Foxfire as my browser and all is OK, but when I try to use IE or windows tools like Clean Disk or Defrag, these processes use 100% CPU and hang up. I use AVG for virus protection and ran it in Safe mode - didn't help. I also bought and installed Uniblue Registry Cleaner - that didn't help either. System Restore isn't a solution either.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire notebook, w/ 37 gig hard drive partitioned into two drives. D (backup, archive) is 98% empty. C (everything else) is91% full. Windows NT will not let me defragment the heavily fragmented C partition for lack of minimum 15% free space on the drive. How can I go in and reasign the drive sizes, without dumping everything and reformating? I'm handy with a power tool, but computers frustrate me.

I get to select the point which I want to restore to, however when I select the continue / next button, nothing happens. Anyone have an idea as to what could be wrong? I've run anti-virus, anti-malware, (AVG, Malwarebites, Hijackthis) and I've re-installed things just in case a program may have erased it, my comp was last defragged 2 days ago.

After running my computer would act normal untill i shut it off, then windows xp would not load again. I get a blank screen with a blinking dash in the top left of the screen. They have been under replaced for free by seagate so i am wondering. Have i had bad luck with hard drives or could there be a problem with other parts of my computer?

I just reformated my computer. i have 2 hard drives. one which stores all my system files, os etc. and onther which i use just for storage. When i restarted my computer for the first time since reformating i had a message sayinf somthing alng the lines of: "One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended that you continue."i wasnt at my computer so it decided to go ahead and do it anyway. by the time i got to my computer and turned it off, booted it back up and avoided the dick check again on start up it had already deleted 20 gigs of my music files. It was saying somthing about orphened files when it was running through deleting everything from image files to mp3s. please let me know if there is a way to resotr my deleted files or find out exactly what was deleted.

I reformatted my computer without WLM and defragging was not a problem, worked like a charm. So, I downloaded and installed WLM again, and lo and behold the same problem occurred, the defrag program would not defrag all the files.
