How to figure out why the Windows Accessories Programs "Calculator," "Paint," and "Wordpad" appear to have been disabled in my PC (XP Professional)? I tried to find where the "Calculator" program may be lodged in the hard drive, for example, so as to bring back the application from wherever it is apparently hiding. I typed "C:WINDOWS/system32/calc.exe" into the "Run" command. The message box that opened read like this: "Windows cannot find C:WINDOWS/system32/calc.exe." The message box then suggests to "....click the Start button, and then click Search." "Search" could not find the file. But it was accessible before from the Start-> Menu->All Programs->Accessories.
i was recently going through the Windows XP services shutting down various components that are not necessarily needed that take up RAM. Personally, I have plenty of RAM and didn't really have a problem with it, but wanted to see what would change so I could tweak my girlfriends computer which is running sluggish, even after doubling her RAM to over a gig. (Getting more HD soon...) Everything is fine, however,
I realized that my calculator/ MS Paint/ and all the games under 'Accessories' are missing. I can't seem to figure out what component of Windows is linked with those particular programs. /WinXP%20Services.htm

When I try to open Microsoft Office Word 2003 a window pops up that says window installer then it says installing microsoft office word feature. It stops half way and another window pops up that says Installation error file not found. A required installation file SKU112.CAB could not be found. Original installation source required. If you installed Microsoft Office Standard edition 2003 from cd please insert your cd.
If you installed Microsoft office standard edition 2003 over your computer network please browse to the installation source on your computer. Also a window popped up that says Microsoft word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install application. I don't have the cd its lost. This just started doing this about a month ago. I can't open any files through microsoft office word or power point.
When I click on a Word document (on my Desktop, for example), it seems to take a long time for the document to open. Yet if I have Word open and click on the document it opens instantaneously. Similarly, when I right click on a document, photo, spreadsheet file, it takes what seems a long time for the menu (Open, Run as, Send to, Delete, etc..) to open.
I have Windows XP Pro SP2 as my OS. When I try to save a document directly from Word onto my DVD I get the message that is read-only. The OS does see the DVD drive because Roxio can burn to the drive. I prefer saving directly to the the drive from Word. What could be the problem?
I just installed my home Dell Dimension 4700 -- and can't seem to find any MS Office or "Word" options on my "All Programs" drop-down. The system is supposed to have Windows XP resident, but I'm not finding any of it. Also, I want to be able to convert old Word Perfect files to Word -- and vice versa, but have thus far been unsuccesaful in figuring out how to do it.
When I click on All Programs from Start, and go to Accessories, the Calculator is no longer there. It also should be on my Start Menu. I think I recently made a restore point, which I really know nothing about. Can anyone tell me how I can get my Calculator back please. I am able to open it from the Help & Support page by clicking on the link.

I just uninstalled something with word perfect on my dell inspiron 600 in order to free space b/c I didn't think that I used it, but now all my word docs (I'm running windows 2003 with a 2007 service compatibility patch/update) have turned into what looks like word pad docs! How do I find what was uninstalled and get it back?
I have an HP Pavilion a815n desktop PC with Win XP Home. Recently I noticed that Sound Recorder and calculator are missing. I tried researching HP website but without any luck on how to restore the missing things. The only way I know is to restore them is by installing XP again because I tried using Software restore CD that came with the PC but no luck.I have one hard drive that is divided in 3 NTFS partitions. Aside from Paint lagging, the rest of my computer is kinda slow lately, and there are a bunch of SVCHOST.exe's that seem to be running when i look at the task manager. I killed the one that was taking up the most memory usage and the computer was slightly better... in Paint, I could actually use the Pencil tool without lagging, but the scrolling and paintbucket was laggy still.
I recently purchased a new computer that came free with it's own Photo Shop program, so every time I try to edit a picture in My Pictures folder it opens THAT program instead of PAINT, which is what I want to edit the pictures in. Anyone got any clues how to set it right?
I found that paint program is not visible in start>Programs>accessories. Then I checked in control panel, in windows components , in accessories the paint is selected but it is not visible in program list. What is the
I have installed/reinstalled MS Paint several times and restarted my computer. It is there but I cannot paste or copy. I had registry mechanic on my computer and since then it has not worked.

I key ctrl/alt/and prtscn to cache screen shots. I can no longer save to Paint. The pencil icon is on first instead of the select. It will not show the paste button on the drop down menu only the select all.
I can use paint using my scanner but not screen shots which I use all the time.
