By Pass My Admin Password?

Win. XP, Log In/log Out Problem, + Forgotten Admin Pass.

Same in "safe"mode.

Aug 5, 2007I ran the network setup wizard on both computers, when i go to 'view workgroup computers' and click on the one i want to connect to i am asked for a password, i tried the admin password and the password for the user that ran the wizard -- neither worked .

Oct 26, 2006i bought a used laptop w/XP installed and registered. but can't get into system because doesn't have the Admin password Don't want to reinstall everything because we don't have the XP disk. That, too, is gone.
The laptop is useable, but runs like a 400MHz. Slow for 2.4GHz. Takes several minutes to boot up and every window lags. Can do minor stuff such as defrag and shutting off several XP "bells and whistles", but it really needs a serious tune-up. Several of the start-up programs need to be shut off or removed. Also needs its reg cleaned. Also need to check the BIOS. Can't do it cuz it won't let me in.
Is there any way to nullify the passwords? I know on certain pc's, all I have to do is remove and reinstall a pin on the motherboard. This is an HP 2.4GHZ Celeron laptop.
Logon Password XP - No Admin Setup
Sep 10, 2005My PC is currently setup with 3 different users with no passwords needed.
How would I change that so a password is needed to logon to XP.
I don't think admin is setup eithre.
Repair Asks For Admin Password Which Never Set
Sep 23, 2009I read elsewhere that I should initiate a repair of the OS with the original CD. The problem is to do that it is asking me for an admin password I never set
Keep in mind:I have no access to reboot with the original motherboard(fried) I have 4 Legal copies of XP on 4 computers (including the fried one) I have lost the disk and the XP serial number for that machine. I still have 2 OEM and one Upgrade XP disks So Eventually I am going to have to deal with the serial number issue I think (hope not) System 7 is not an option I need to fix this now and I do not want and illegal copy of the beta

I thought you went in safe mode and went from there to reset, but it still comes up logging me in as guest and also, the keyboard doesn't work in safe mode for me. Jun 22, 2006I downloaded a program tilled MS PowerToys from MS's website. I installed the program and ran it. I was attempting to set the program to allow me to bypass the startup screen (the screen that asks for your password and asks you which user accout you want to use). I did this because I only had one user, and had no password. But when I would boot it still made me click on the users name.

Jul 27, 2007First off, i have a 60gb ide drive for my windows installation (3 other drives for storage), and i got a 150gb Raptor X, which is sata. I cloned the 60gb boot drive onto the raptor, but it didnt boot, and said the HAL was corrupt. My guess would be that the hardware abstraction layer got all defunct when it saw the new sata drive, but was expecting an ide? After all that, i decided to run a chkdsk on the ide drive, and clone it again, to see if it booted. I used the recovery console on a windows xp pro disc, but alas, i couldnt chkdsk because i forgot my admin password. Stupid me.

Aug 3, 2007I installed a few programs last night and I lost all my admin privileges. I'm using an account that has admin rights, and yet these happened:
- run button in the start menu has disappeared.
- turn off button has also disappeared; I can only log off
- I cannot run the task manager when I press ctrl-alt-del
- some sys tray applications stopped being started up with the windows (skype, msn messenger, icq, adobe lightroom, daemontools)
- when I load Adobe Photoshop CS2, I get this message that says "You are not allowed to continue because your account does not have administrator privileges".
- I'm sure there're more things waiting to be discovered................

Jun 1, 2010System will not boot pass Dell welcome screen. Does not respond to F2/F12/F8 and this all began after i clear cmos. Original problem was BSOD so now i wish to do a clean install but unable to enter the bios to set PC to boot from CDrom. Got into safe mode once but it freezes. May 26, 2006I am trying to fix a new hp computer. the problem is when you start it up and it goes to log onto windows it starts up the typical light blue screen but an hour glass just sits in the middle and it does nothing, you can move the mouse bbut nothing else. to be more decritive, it the welcome screeen listing the users name to log on but it doesnt get that far, right before that but it just stalls and does nothing.

Aug 12, 2008I first noticed a problem when a command prompt window popped up during startup.1.exe. After some searching I discovered it was a trojan located on c root directory. I decided to try and scan to remove it. I used Adaware and AVG free and didnt get it. (only found a few low risk tracking cookies) I then tried SpyBot but during the update process it decided it needed to install the new version so it went ahead and did this then informed me i needed to reboot. I selected not to right away. I scanned with System Mechanic to remove junk and obsolete files and got rid of them all. I then did a registry scan and deleted everything system mechanic found.
I then deleted the installation .exes and shortcuts that had been added to my desktop by Adaware and Spy bot.I also have zone alarm running all the time.When i came to restart my pc, it passes the windows XP main screen but then freezes on the Acer brand screen. It also will not boot into safe mode. I just get the normal safe mode screen but with the operating system details printed across the top and no start menu/input options etc.Ive removed and reseated the RAM and the battery.Im really stuck as to what to try next!Its an Acer Aspire laptop about 2 years old.Ive done something to kill it but nothing massively different to what i have done in the past.Im fairly good with these things but im feeling a little lost for ideas!

Jun 19, 2006I have a friend, seriously - it's a friend not me, that had to do the windows genuine updgrade. She paid the $150 and instead of just plugging in the new product key she inserted the CD they mailed her and started a new install of windows. It seems it had trouble locating files and now she gets a option to select which operating system at start.The setup won't continue (it can't locate files on CD - maybe bad disk) and when she selects the original XP pro setup it won't let her past the login screen.
