is it possible to log into an XP machine connected to my network, using my network admin password?My XP machine is configured to show the list of users at login, but is there a way to login a different way, a shortcut key perhaps?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhat happened is I just installed a new Hard Drive and a fresh windows install (XP Pro with Service pack 3). After all was installed it logged into my account (Me) which was my account with Administrator privileges. I did a series of windows updates now when I turn my computer on it goes straight to the Administrator account and not my account (me). So I have to log off or switch accounts from Admin to Me. I just want it to login to Me all the time. So I am not smart enough to figure it out.

We set a password and created a limited user account. Now when the admin account is attempted to be logged into the message: "C:windowssystem32command.com incorrect parameters" appears. However the limited account will log in fine. When the system is started in safe mode, the admin account can be logged into.I expect that a malware/trojen/whatever may be the culprit. Prior to the issue, Spybot removed 526 problems, but 25 needed a reboot before Spybot could remove them. I ran hijack this and saved the log before any "cleaning" of the system began.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I'm at work right trying to install adobe reader on my computer and it prompts me when I install for which user to install on. Basically it let me login as admin while logged in as a non admin user. Well me being a moron clicked the wrong thing I checked "Always login as this user when installing" and it was selected as the nonadmin user. Well now when I try to install I get an insufficent priveladges error. So it no longer prompts me to login as admin. How can I reset this or where in the registery is the key that saves it?

View 3 Replies View Relatedits my friends pc and spec is athlon xp2200,80gig hd, 512mb ram, xp home,4 login accounts,3 set as admin level. i'll be as through as i can with what has gone wrong and what i have done at each stage to correct it. i dont want to reinstall cos its my friends business pc with loads of data on, and yes he does not have a backup cos he dont do them.(he will know though) he installed corel draw 4 (bad news i know - old 16 bit app for win95) and then rebooted. he couldnt log in on his user as he got an error about "INVALID ACCESS TO MEMORY LOCATION". none of the other logins worked as they suddenuyl had passwords on them.
ok i took it off him and tried the login. safe mode admin didnt work as it had suddenly got a password on it. i also got some memory ref 0xc00000bb and same error message. obtained the password crack cd boot image from (website not allowed- boot disk site suggested by a mod on another forum post) and did a reboot. lots of the accounts where locked so i sorted that and reset all the passwords to blank.............
Is there another way to go into a machine if you do not have the admin password? The former user changed the password and did not pass it on. Is there a way to bypass this and access the machine?

View 7 Replies View Relatedi bought a used laptop w/XP installed and registered. but can't get into system because doesn't have the Admin password Don't want to reinstall everything because we don't have the XP disk. That, too, is gone.
The laptop is useable, but runs like a 400MHz. Slow for 2.4GHz. Takes several minutes to boot up and every window lags. Can do minor stuff such as defrag and shutting off several XP "bells and whistles", but it really needs a serious tune-up. Several of the start-up programs need to be shut off or removed. Also needs its reg cleaned. Also need to check the BIOS. Can't do it cuz it won't let me in.
Is there any way to nullify the passwords? I know on certain pc's, all I have to do is remove and reinstall a pin on the motherboard. This is an HP 2.4GHZ Celeron laptop.
My PC is currently setup with 3 different users with no passwords needed.
How would I change that so a password is needed to logon to XP.
I don't think admin is setup eithre.
I read elsewhere that I should initiate a repair of the OS with the original CD. The problem is to do that it is asking me for an admin password I never set
Keep in mind:I have no access to reboot with the original motherboard(fried) I have 4 Legal copies of XP on 4 computers (including the fried one) I have lost the disk and the XP serial number for that machine. I still have 2 OEM and one Upgrade XP disks So Eventually I am going to have to deal with the serial number issue I think (hope not) System 7 is not an option I need to fix this now and I do not want and illegal copy of the beta
I recently hooked my computer up after 6 long months and have forgotten my admin acct name and password both. I thought you went in safe mode and went from there to reset, but it still comes up logging me in as guest and also, the keyboard doesn't work in safe mode for me. I downloaded a program tilled MS PowerToys from MS's website. I installed the program and ran it. View 7 Replies View RelatedFirst off, i have a 60gb ide drive for my windows installation (3 other drives for storage), and i got a 150gb Raptor X, which is sata. I cloned the 60gb boot drive onto the raptor, but it didnt boot, and said the HAL was corrupt. My guess would be that the hardware abstraction layer got all defunct when it saw the new sata drive, but was expecting an ide? After all that, i decided to run a chkdsk on the ide drive, and clone it again, to see if it booted. I used the recovery console on a windows xp pro disc, but alas, i couldnt chkdsk because i forgot my admin password. Stupid me.

However, my PC bluescreened last night, forcing me to restart - unfortunately, the size of the screen and resolutions meant I could not actually read most of the exception. When I reboot, it loads normally, goes through the network connections and comes up with the 'Press CTRL ALT DEL to Login' screen. I press it and the screen just refreshes.
