i am getting a Boot Failure message on my computer when I start it up. It seems like it is trying to boot from the various devices, Then I receive the Boot Failure message.

View 6 Replies View Relatedfirst i get the HP blue screen. I tried F1, but i dont see my hard drive in the boot menu. I followed some steps in Hp's web site- took the cpu apart and unplugged both hard drives from the motherboard, plugged them back in. when i restarted ,i got the HP screen and then windows started to load up. After a few seconds the HP screen came back up and then the black screen: sk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. I also noticed that pressing F10 for system recovery does nothing.

DiskError/Boot Faliure Reboot and select proper boot device or insert Boot media in selected boot device If I press enter after this messages & keep pressing following messages appear from time to time (Not simultaneously). If just after making the switch on, I press F2 key to check the boot device preference
If just after making the switch on , I press f11 key to reach the boot menu I always find the 1.44 MB Floppy option highlighted as the booting choice.(though there had not been any floppy in the floppy drive, I dont have any really)I make the hard disk option highlighted & it solves the problem only a few times. But next time when I try F11 key to check the boot menu again I find 1.44 MB floppy highlighted.

I have a dwsktop vaio When I boot from cold it does not find hard drive. I get an error message Disk boot failure Insert system disk and press enter. If I restart the computer and go into the bios it does not show the hard drive but when I come out of the bios it then boots up.It will only bootup if I go into the bios first?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 2 hard disc system, Windows XP pro and most programmes run from the C Drive. A few, plus all my data run from the F drive. Over the last few days I have encountered a massive slowdown in getting the computer started - form certainly less than 5 minutes to over 20 minutes. I have not added anything to the autoruns at all.
Programmes and data (eg music) run fine if they are on the F drive, but if they are on the C drive they run incredibly slowly so music is fragmented and at times its like trying to wade through treacle to get anything done. I have been getting crashes of the PC with a message about a kernel problem... but haven't yet copied all the data from that to get the detail. When it crashes the next boot reports a disc boot system failure, when i reboot ahgain it loads up but painfully slowly. The C drive was defraggged just afew weeks ago. I'm thinking the drive is about to pack up....

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter running a defragmentation, I received a message that 6 mb of system 32 did not defrag. the system ran, closed, then when booted up the next day I received the windows 32 error. I have an OEM windows xp installed in the computer, a pentium III gateway, and i understand that common recovery proceedures cannot be used with success, because the OEM versions have embedded passwords and such. I have not heard strange sounds from my hard drive, previous to , and subsiquent to the problem. I wish to run chkdsk,to see if this can resolve the problem, if the OEM version will allow it. Is this possible, and the fact that I have a D drive slaved to the c drive matter?

However, I ran the System Diagnostics and when it got to the Disk section - it is not recognizing the disk - it said Warning...and to check the cables. I enter that then it simply shows the text "no bootable devices, strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility" if I press F1 it simply repeats the same text Setup utility is no help.
I hit F12 once when first powering on the computer and went into the boot menu
I ran the "Pre-Boot Sytem Assesment Build 3020"
When it ran through that test everything 'passed' the tests, but in the 'DST status test' it failed and stated that no hard drive was detected.
I haven't downloaded anything maliscious, or dropped my computer. What happened to my hard drive? and is there anything I can do now to get it up and running again?
After POST, when does Windows begin to load? After a re-start, PC had been on for 1 hour; off 5 min; boot hung at flashing cursor in upper left.
View 7 Replies View RelatedEver since a power failure yesterday, my computer is not booting 100% of the way - it seems to stall at the end after loading desktop etc, can't see anything missing but I am unable to do anything. Nothing opens when clicked on. It works perfectly in Safe Mode with Networking.
I checked Device Manager and found 3 things highlighted:
HID Non-user input Data Filter
HID Non-user input Data Filter in HID section, and
WAN Miniport (IP) in Network Adaptors.
I do not have a wireless network, only a hard-wired one, so not sure what that is about.
Today, when the XP boot screen appeared after post, my machine rebooted. Went to MSKB and followed instructions for Recovery Console, but when I got to the money shot, I was denied access - tried this 4 times, same response. Tried repair install, but after drivers loaded and auto re-boot, XP boot screen appeared and machine rebooted...vicious cycle.

Primary IDE Master - Maxtor 40GB

Secondary IDE Master - NEC DVD Writer
Secondary IDE Slave - Sony CD ROM
Third IDE Master - Maxtor 200GB
Whenever I try to repair Windows, everything goes fine up till this point, where half-way through the "Installing devices" stage... nothing seems to happen, no progress. The setup doesn't hang or freeze, it seems to be working just fine except that nothing happens, it does not complete this part, just sits there. I've even left it for an hour and even then no progress.However, if I commence a new setup, a new installation, this problem does not occur and the setup completes successfully.

I got up to find it had rebooted in the night and failed to boot up again. I get an error message that says boot failure system security something has failed to initialize due to hardware attatched to your computer is no longer functioning. I've loaded fail safe settings in bios nothing. I thought I'd reinstall windows but once windows starts to boot the keyboard and mouse are no longer recognized. I can't tell it to boot from CD.
