Aug 16, 2009When i for example enter to Flyff the screen have 1 sec black screen and after that,the the screen freeze but i can move the mouse.

ATI x1950xt with newest Catalyst's (7.4's)
Sometimes when i play a game or wake the computer up from sleep mode, the computer screen goes to come back on and instead, the screen goes black, with monitor power light flickering and a loud piercing sound through my speakers. One of the times it happened, the ATI VPU Recovery came up and asked me to submit the crash report through email, but that only came up once, the other times, there has been no warning, no recovery, no errors, just blank.

Dec 1, 2006I booted up my computer 3 days ago and logged in under my user name, and there were no desktop icons or taskbar, so I restarted my computer and tried every user, still nothing. I went to msconfig to restore it to a earlier point, and when it restarted I went to my user name, and still nothing so I went to msconfig again and booted it up in safe mode, when it restarted, right before the user names screen came up, a black screen with "SAFE MODE" in all four corners pops up for about 3 or 4 seconds, then the user name screen comes up with the ADMIN and the rest of the user names, it doesn't matter what name I log in as it always goes to the same black Safe Mode screen as before but it will freeze there forever. So I had to manually shut it down. When it restarted I hit F8 to get it out of safe mode and chose restart computer normally, then when it restarts the same exact thing thing happens. I've tried every option at the F8 selection screen. So I put in a cd with Mepis Linux on it that my cousin gave me, but I didn't install it I have been running it off the disk. And I have no clue what to do next.

Apr 14, 2006My computer has been acting screwy. While i have been playing a game my screen would freeze and black out, or just suddently black out.so i would have to shut it off through the back switch. this was happening for about a week. This problem happened again last night only this time it wont let me boot back into windows. it will boot up to the windows logo loading screen and restart, after this restart it will tell me windows did not boot properly and ask to continue with safe mode with networking, and console.(still rebooted with all choices) and windows normaly (rebooted) and windows with last safest configuration (still rebooted). occasionaly it will get to scandisk, after the scandisk it will lock up or reboot, if it gets passed scandisk without rebooting it gives me a blue screen

Freeze On Screen Saver - Freeze Seems Random
Oct 11, 2006I can be doing anything, so not even be around the computer and it freezes, could freeze on the screen saver, or when im on hte internet, or playin a game, or writing an email anything.... not an overheating problem because it has happened say right after its done booting, or 5 mins after running or say 12 hours after being on.... or jsut not freeze seems to be really random

I use a developer program to make executables (hobby of mine saves me going troppo) called Clarion, it works OK, I made a DOSable program with it, it works OK.
Once I could open to full size DOS screen by pressing the Alt+Enter keys and it would stay open until I was finished with it, then I could revert back to a small screen by pressing Alt+Enter keys again.
Now if I press Alt+Enter keys the DOS screen appears, but it stays open in full screen for a couple of seconds then automatically closes back to the usual small screen.
I have tried right clicking on the icon, properties, screen and putting a dot in the full size option, but this does not work.
I have scanned my PC for viruses etc but no joy there.
I have Dialup only, so don't ask me to do a Panda or Trend scan as they drop you if you no got broadband.
I'm using XP pro, 512meg ram, using a Gigabyte MB, and Nivida video card.
XP working OK-dokie, sound ok-dokie, video ok-dokie, screen to DOS wonkie.
how to fix this?

Oct 23, 2005I was playing a game and I rebooted my computer. When i went to start it it went to the a blank blue screen before the account screen in the beginning of XP. I know i can restore to new but i will have lost so much information that it would take about 3 months to retain it all back. It says it can not find operating system. I need help in a serious way. all advice and solutions are requested.

Apr 12, 2005So I'm having a bit of a nightmare trying to get my copy of XP to boot.Every thing was working fine and then I tried to make a back up image of my drive using Norton Ghost 2003. I have a 200Gb Wester Digital SATA drive and an Asus A8n-SLI mobo. I think that there might have been some problem with the nVidia IDE/SATA drivers as ghost crashed half way thorugh the image making process. I ended up doing a hard restart. The PC then took a longer than normal time to boot back up.2. That made me nervous, so yesterday I made True Image images of both partitions on the HD, that is C: (OS and apps) and D: (data).3. This morning I decided to run a memory diagnostic disk (I had memtest86+ and Windows Diagnostics CDs on hand). I set boot priority to CD/DVD ROM using Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Toshiba Assist > Optimize > Toshiba Hardware Settings

Oct 7, 2007Very similar to the following problem but i do not have a raid, and it seems that this PC has a raid and i don't, plus it was never really determined what the actual solution was.

The basics: XP Professional Boot up screen, right before the windows loading screen, or direct after the F8 Menu if you hit "Start Windows Normally..." it will just lock up, no HDD activity, blank screen. now BSOD, nothing.
All 3 safe mods work fine.
Ran chkdsk /r in recovery.
Ran proper fixboot procedure.
Went into safe mode and checked the event viewer.
The only concerning message i got was: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
AmdK8
Fips
nod32drv
Formatting really isnt an issue since i can back up anything i need through safe mode. However its just the fact that the Windows gremlin has struck me again and i must defeat it once more.
I highly doubt this is a hardware issue as it is more of a driver/software issue.any help?
The Blue Screen Whenever Try To Run A Game
Aug 5, 2008I've only had this problem for a while, i have windows xp and this hasen't happened to be before until yesterday. whenever i start up one of my big games(ie a more newer more demanding games) the screen pops up and my computer resets, i dont know what i could of don't to cause this nor what exactly whats going on the screen has a error that says IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL at first i thought my graphics drivers were buggered. so i went off and downloaded newer ones and put them on, but it didn't seem to do much.

It also does the EXACT same thing every once in awhile for java applets or large flash animations.It doesnt give any file name on the blue screen or any description of what is causing this. Jan 27, 2005When booting up (XP), I get to the screen where I select the user name and enter the password. Then I get my usual wallpaper screen but no icons, start button, task bar, tray etc etc. I can't right click on the screen.
I CAN do Crtl+Alt+Del and get a run prompt up and browse the various drives (and even run software through this, e.g. internet) but the desktop is always completely blank. I have tried Safe Mode and restore last known good etc but neither works both same result, get to wallpaper but no icons.
Computer Won't Enter Standby Mode - Start Screen Saver
Jan 14, 2007For some reason my computer won't enter standby mode on its own. Most of the time it won't start a screen saver either. I have it programmed to start the screen saver after 3 minutes and to enter standby mode after 15 minutes. However, I'll come back an hour later only to find that the battery has been completely drained. Anyone know why my computer won't enter standby mode or start its screen saver?

When I close the laptop, it just hangs on the "entering standby mode" screen and drains the battery. When I open it up again, it shows that screen, and I have to press the power button to turn it off completely and start all over. When I try to put it in standby mode manually (by selecting it in the "turn off computer" options, the same thing happens. Dec 3, 2006I recently designed and built a top of the line comp for my dad. So all hardware is brand new. When i play the online game Shattered Galaxy I recieve the blue screen which the computer either freezes or restarts. Also fire fox just recieved a random error when i was posting this but that is another story. I have updated the video drivers. I took a picture of the blue screen so i will post exactlty what it said hoping that it will help.

If I start up my computer with a game CD or DVD already in the drive, I do not get a blue screen when I open up the game or DVD from the drive within My Computer. Aug 4, 2009For some reason my other computer i dont understand it alot but when it comes to a Disk Boot Failur, enter system disk and press enter i usually just shutdown computer plug out the wait around 5-10mins but for this time it has really driven me up the wall. at the moment now it hasnt worked and im asking for help here are some of the things i did... like i said before jst left it and wait... putting OS disk in and try to repair didnt work... try to reinstall didnt work it said it cant OS system something like that... changing my boot system to have HDD first and than CD-ROM than floppy (yes i do have a floppy drive).. but one thing it had told me Win XP when i first tried to repair it it said you have to quite when it count down on when to reboot it said if you have a floopy disk unplug it out and i did it and still not working.

Is it creating more user folders? At some point Administrator.computer description name.000 wasn't there. Corrupted registry hive? I'm not sure! Restarted many times, used Last known good configuration, and it's still black after the boot screen. Please help!
Screen Freeze With Bootup From CD
Jun 21, 2009Hey, basicly my old Hard drive for some reason or another died. I got a second hand one off a friend which I beleive and he beleives to be allright. = Baracuda 7200 .6 160gb HDD IDE... Obviously when starting it gets stuck on Error loading OS.. So I restarted went into boot menu and placed CDDrive as no1 boot. Placed my XP disk in... it went through the stages: Press any key to boot.Setup is inspecting your computers hardware configuration now on the blue screen of "Press f6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver that passes by what should appear next is sposed to be a screen saying "press enter to install windows xp or R to repair," but that doesn't load up instead I am stuck with.

Oct 3, 2009I have a Dell Dimension 4600. I got a new 80gb hard drive and wanted to clone it with the current 20gb drive. I took both drives and connected them to a different pc that had norton ghost on it. After cloning, which went fine, I placed them back into the Dell with the 80 gig set as master, and the 20gb set as slave. The computer would post normally and boot to a black screen with a blinking cursor, this happned right after verifying dmi data pool. It would hang at this screen never getting to the windows loading screen.
I returned the 20gb to the master drive and set the 80gb as the slave. It booted fine. After getting into windows I saw it was reporting the 80gb as C: and the 20gb as D:. I changed the drive letter of the 80gb (in safe mode) to G:. After changing it the computer would freeze at the XP splash screen, however I still had control of the mouse. I believe this was caused from windows search for the page file on C: which no longer existed............
