View 1 Replies View Relatedhey guys been having some problems with my USB ports for the last couple of days, i have dell 5150 notebook running windows XP SP2, basically what happen is i had my notebook on my lap it got hot and shut down automatically, after that ive tried to use my usb too run a sound card, midi controller, ipod, and dig cam none of them seem to get read by the computer, although the USB port does have power because the devices do turn on but the computer dosent bring ne thing up on the device manager.

When clicking icons to start or re-awakening programmes from the bottom tray they take a very long time to activate. Programmes from the bottom tray re-activate in stages. Shut down is taking a lot longer as well. SP2 is installed but it was like this before that was installed.

When I would play it, it would stutter, play a DVD disk slightly at less than normal speed, and the audio had a slight echo to it. So I bought a new one (an LG). After 4 months, it had the same problem. I replaced it. The new one has the same problem. My external DVD writer seems to work fine. So, rather than the writer, I think it might be a driver issue?

Before the reinstall, I managed to track down this page on the Sony Asia website (http://www.sony-asia.com/support/dow...subpage=detail), and downloaded all of the listed drivers onto a memory stick. Having formatted the disk and installed Windows, I installed the drivers in the order listed on the website. They all worked perfectly, except for the Realtek audio driver.No sound was played by the computer, and when viewing the sound preferences under the Control Panel, I was informed that there is No Audio Device.

When i installed the graphics card drivers, i tried testing the graphics on a game (counter-strike) but as soon as i got into the game, the pc flashes a blue screen, and reboots. I cant see what the blue screen says because it flashes on and off again to quick for me to read it. Plus my Tablet side of things hasn't worked in a long time and I was hoping the clean install would fix that. But my recovery DVD isn't working (could be user error).
