View 2 Replies- HDD #1 has just a single partition with win 2000 installed set as master
- HDD #2 has 3 partitions (used for data backup) with no OS on it set as slave
what i'd like to do is put win xp pro on HDD #2, make it the master, put 2 partitions on it, remove windows from HDD #1 (don't want a dual boot)...that being said, how do i go about doing this? do i first switch the IDE cables and jumpers on the drives, reboot (with CD in CD-ROM), install win xp pro on HDD #2 and partition it (i have partition magic to do the partitions, if that matters)? how do i go about removing win 2000 from HDD #1? do i need to adjust the BIOS during this process?
how can i remove norton ghost from my hd its wasting disk space with partitions how can i just free my hard drive?

View 6 Replies View RelatedCan anyone give me the steps to reduce all the clutter I have on my PC down to ONE edition of Windows XP (Prof) and get rid of all the other stuff? The situation on one of my computers (my wife's) is that there are several (3 anyway) editions/installations of WinXP Home on this computer and, if left to boot up on its own will go to the top one on the list, which is NOT the edition required, and of course it asks for Activation and all that stuff, which, when the correct edition is loaded, is not necessary. I would like to eliminate all but the second edition noted, safely and permanently. How do I go about this safely?

I am currently replacing this machine with a new one and want to wipe the hard drive clean and set up the computer to be only used for Internet and iTunes. When I reinstall XP, what steps can I take to strip out any features, etc. that I don't need? I do not have much experience with operating system installations, so I am hoping to find a step by step method to delete or uninstall programs that will slow the system down as well as a way to keep the machine pretty clean.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAm I right in thinking that they are both pretty similar except that server has support for multiple processors and extra network related tools and facilities. The reason I ask is that if a piece of software works on Windows 2000 server, is it extremely likely that it will work on Windows 2000 professional too? As a bit of background information: I work for a small company which supplies temperature monitoring equipment which needs to be networked. I've been told that it has been tested on Windows 2000 server but not on Window 2000 professional.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed the Eset NOD32 3.0 antivirus, I wanted to remove it. I couldn't remove it on a conventional way, using the add/remove tool, so I removed it from my windows startup list, and then physically removed the folder from my HDD, and then used PC Tools Registry Mechanic thinking that it would do the trick, but it didn't. I tried various registry cleaning programs, but I just can't find it in the lists.

When it loaded up I noticed that everything is taking 2x as long to load and it is taking long time to even get the start button list up. I waited for about 10 minutes and then nothing still, I don't know any other way to remove McAfee, how to remove McAfee, add/remove program list won't work here.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have tried previously to uninstall my HP Officejet G85 printer from HP Pavilion a1130n running XP Media. There is no Change/Remove button in Add/Remove Programs but the program is there, 150 MB, and the file suggested on the HP website for uninstalling older printers from XP produces a message that it's "unsupported" can't remember exact verbiage, been a while since last tried. Even reinstalled in the hopes that a message would come up to the effect "this program is already installed, do you want install to remove it prior to completing this install," but it just installs the printer again with a number after it ... I'm up to "hp officejet g series - 3."

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently uninstalled Windows SP3 RC1 from my computer and reverted back to Windows SP2 through the use of Projekt (Project) Dakota. Before uninstallation though, one of my siblings had run this script to update to Windows SP3 RC2. I do not want to install the newest RC2, as I'm now waiting for a final release. I changed my Windows Update Settings to download but to not install, as it was already downloaded from yesterday. Is there anyway to remove the already downloaded but not installed update for Windows SP3 RC2, and is there anyway to remove the script (that tells the computer to download SP3 RC2?)

What is the trick? Safe mode and delete the folders? Search the registry manually?
