there are thousands of blue lines on my computer screen running up and down, they move when I type, etc. It looks kind of like a bunch of barcodes all across my screen if I could compare it to anything. My computer seems to run fine even with them on the screen. I thought my video card may be shot but when I tried starting my computer in safe mode this lead me to believe that this may be a virus or trojan.

At first it would not boot at all (I think I fixed that it will boot now) But after it runs for a few minutes it goes to a blue screen with vertical lines. There is no error message just the lines. Sometimes they are one color, sometimes different colors. Does anyone know how I can diagnose what is going on. This is the first time I encountered this
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm on my computer for 10 hours a day monday through friday. About twice a day my computer locks up and displays grey vertical lines on the screen and I can't do anything. It requires a hard power down and power up to get back up and going. Of course everything I haven't saved is lost. I've tried deleting and reloading the video driver and updating it, no help. Do I need to reload my OS? I hope the fix is not that drastic. Any and all information is appreciated. Recently I had to erase and reload everything on my computer - including XP - so now I only have some basic programs from established vendors (MSFT office, Norton, Adobe and SBC yahoo DSL). Since I did all of this, now while I am on the internet, my computer will all of a sudden freeze and the screen will become one color (not the typical blue screen but usually the background color of the page I was just viewing) with some vertical lines. At this point nothing works, so I have to reboot the computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo basically the computer I'm on was loaded with spyware so I decided to use Spybot to get rid of it. After running it it told me I needed to reboot to remove the rest of the spyware so I did. I got to the windows login screen and after logging into my screen I'm immediately met with a blue screen that flashes for about half a second and then goes to restart the computer. The only way that I can actually get into windows without it crashing is by logging in with safe mode.

I installed Catalyst 5.4 and I get blue screen with STOP message at the far end of installation procedure. I uninstalled previous drivers of course. Then I tryed again end same thing happens. After that I can see that all graphics are normal in games, exepct there is no sound at all, computer is REALY slow working in win xp and there are no optical drives in my computer menu-dissappered?!? After that I uninstalled 5.4 and installed 5.2 back again. Same thing but worse happened with 5.3 version. I updated BIOS, apertur size is default 64Mb (my graphic card is 9600xt 128Mb), fast writes are off, as same as caching and shadowing are off too. I've got Audigy LS and S-ATA 160Gb.
View 6 Replies View RelatedPentium 4, 2.44 gig processor, 2 gig memory, XP Pro SP3. I have had recurring BSOD for 2 months. After running a mini-dump with BlueScreen View, the problem appeared to be a corrupted ntoskrnl.exe file. I rebuilt the Boot.ini file, which loads the ntoskrnl.exe file. Still BSOD crashes. I then purchased "Registry Booster", and ran that. Continued BSOD crashes. I can send a JPEG of the BlueScreen View if any one can help me figure out the cause of these random crashes.

Windows Stop code 0X0000007E (0X80000003, 0X805C370C, 0XBACCB2B4, 0XBACCAFB0). Computer will not boot in safe mode or last known good configuration. I have decided that I will need to reload windows but have several very important files on hard drive that I need to get off first. As it stands, I have 2.5" drive loaded into external hard drive enclosure. Only problem is that 2.5" drive has drive letter of C: like every other computer I have in my house. Is there anyway to change this letter to view files via usb enclosure? Any way to change drive path of C: volume on any other computer?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new computer with a 512 MB graphic card. My old computer had a 128 MB card but at the beginning, I only had 8 MB. I was using a screen saver with fish in an aquarium. With only my 8 MB card, the animation was really impressive. I tried my screen saver yesterday with my new 512 MB card and the picture was terrible. There were plenty of horizontal lines on the screen. What could explain this? Could it be that the program wasn't intented for this type of card? In those days, big cards like mine didn't exist. There might be a new update to this screen saver.

Very faint hint of white lines. almost like the old days with tvs and the horizontal hold being out of wack except this is very faint and the screen itself is not distorted. Just horizontal white lines that cascade down. Did the obligiatory check of the cables from the printer to the computer and nothing going on there. tried rebooting and no luck .I could make some guesses but if this is obvious to somebody i would appreciate any ideas.now for some strange reason after posting this i turned of the monitor and turned it back on and the lines are gone?

After receiving a new monitor and printer for x-mas, I installed the print drivers and hooked up the printer and monitor.After a shut down of the computer, it booted up with these, I guess, shadows or gray lines that continue across the screen wherever there is print or an image. It makes everything very difficult to see.The colors are off as well.I deleted and reinstalled the VGA drivers and that didn't work.

( see picture below)The green(left side) bordered area is the area I can actually see on my screen. The red(right side) marked area is the area covered by the vertical lines. View 5 Replies View RelatedA few days ago strange lines started appearing on my computer screen. It has progressed and I could barely see anything. Then monitor kept going into "power saver" mode and back when I booted Windows in normal mode. I booted Windows in "safe mode". Monitor wasn't shutting off anymore but the screen was barely readable.I managed to save my data on external drive. I put in my Windows installation disk and restarted computer wanting to format the hard disk and reinstall Windows.When I would restart I would see black screen and hear DVD drive spinning but nothing was happening. Now when I restart I see this .This screen just stands there. I cannot access the BIOS, load Windows or boot from CD/DVD. All 3 fans in my comp work fine when computer is on. I tried removing this battery and putting it back later but it didn't help. My computer has 2 gigs RAM, runs Win XP Professional SP2 and this is my motherboard .At this point I have no idea what to do or even what caused this. I was hoping to format and reinstall Windows but I'm unable to boot.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis computer had win98 SE, it kept dying, the screen would go black, but the computer was still running. Had to reboot several times before it would load windows again. It seemed it would do that when the computer was running a while. I checked the processor fan and it is working. I finally decided to reformat and load XP Exeutive. It loaded fine, but when I go to do windows updates, it freezes and gave me errors # OX8024402C and OX80072EE2. Then it will just die again, Screen goes black, nothing there, but you can hear the computer box still running. I don't know what else to check.

Every time i run a PC game my computer goes to the blue screen. It also does the EXACT same thing every once in awhile for java applets or large flash animations.It doesnt give any file name on the blue screen or any description of what is causing this. I dont know if there is some information you can get from those numbers.

The last system i put together was an old p3-1000 along time ago. ive bought a customized system and had it delivered recently, installed windows and instantly started hitting blue screens, ive spent 3 nights removing drivers and reinstalling, downclocking, everything and im still getting random bsod during even the most mundane activities. my cpu is running around 50c and my gpu's are both 50c idle and 60c underload, so i dont think heat is an issue. ive attached some mini-dumps, could somebody take a look and try to help me out? back in the day i would be all over this issue, but have been out of touch and i'm way behind the ball lately, i realize that getting 3-4 different excuses from windows to dump cant be a good sign. any help would be appreciated. BTW the last system i put together is 6-7 years old, still runs and not a single blue screen.

No one seems to have the third set [0x823AA138] and after. No idea what to do.I have tried repairing but it kept saying X file is missing do you want to skip? Out of no where, my computer just shuts off, so I turn it back on and a blue screen appears. It says that it had to shut down windows so that it doesnt cause any problems. So i restart my computer and then when i go to log in, my normal log in screen doesnt appear. It shows a box that says Account Name, and password. Usually its the normal log in screen with the pictures to click on to get into an account. So i "log in", and nex thing I notice is the icons on the desktop have a wierd color to them.Then I notice there is a grey bar covering my taskbar and Start button. I cant click the start button at all. And when I click the Windows button on my keyboard, it pops up the start menu but it doesnt have any icons beside the names. It sort of looks like im in safe mode, but im not.And when I right click on My computer, it doesnt show the General, Computer Name, or Automatic Updates tabs. When I click on the Remote tab, it doesnt show anything and then the tab just disappears.Also when I try starting a program like World of Warcraft, or Ventrillo it says "The application has failed to start becuase the application configuration in incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."
