Now when I start my laptop, it stops half way giving a message that it has an invalid password. At this point, I just enter my new password and it finishes booting up with no problem.
So my question is how do I synchronize the password that my laptop is using to the new changed password in my Microsoft account?
Just as a note, I forgot the password that I had originally set up on my laptop.

But I was tired of having to put in the password each time and I made it where it would bypass that by hitting the windows key plus the x key then clicking on the Command Prompt (Admin). I put in "control userpasswords2" and hit 'enter', then I unticked the box that says "Users must enter username and password to use this computer" then click apply and restarted my computer.
I need more privacy on my computer and I want to have it where people have to sign in with the user name and password to use my computer. But when I do all the same things and tick the box again that says users have to use the username and password etc... it doesn't seem to work. It still doesn't require my username and password.

Dec 20, 2013Okay, so this the worst I've ever been locked out of a computer. There's an account on the computer that's been linked to a Microsoft account, however the MS account password is lost and since all the forgot password options have been filled in with gibberish there's really no way to recover it.
Normally I'd say just reinstall the OS, but apparently we need access to this account.
There's no other user accounts whatsoever. Just one administrator account.
So, facts:
- It's linked to Microsoft.
- Microsoft account in inaccessible.
- Microsoft account cannot be recovered.
- There's no backups or anything.
- Computer account needs to be accessed unharmed.
Ultimately, I guess we need to actually hack into this account by force and I honestly don't know how to do something going that far because I've never been forced to go that far before. I'm going to guess it's going to involve booting from a pendrive or something.

However, I turned off the computer without using a proper shutdown and somehow the password has been changed because the computer will not accept the password I have used from the very beginning.
Unfortunately, although I live in Vancouver BC most of the time, I am currently in Basel, Switzerland until the end of May and I believe any record of my Windows 25 character code is in Vancouver; thus, I doubt I'll be able to restore Windows until I get back there.
I've been reading your forums and I gather that getting into safe mode in the Acer in Windows 8 is not easy. I've tried doing it the way the documentation says to no avail. I am able to get to system settings but do not find any way to bypass the startup password code.
With all the fiddling around I have done, now the cursor arrow doesn't show and I have to use <Tab> to move around the screen to restart. I restart with the <Shift> key down and that gets me into a mode where I can troubleshoot.

Nov 6, 2013Every time i turn on my laptop, my password field is automatically filled with asterisks(*****). Not just few asterisks but the entire password field is covered till no more character is allowed. I have to press and hold backspace key for some time to empty it. The Laptop is Sony Vaio Windows 8 and works just fine apart from this. Yeah, sometimes it automatically fills those asterisks if i click on empty field, for example search field in "my computer". I scanned the Laptop with Avira and Malware Bytes but they found nothing. I even tried "System Restore" but the problem is still there. The Problem appeared suddenly out of nowhere. 1. Inserted a blank CD in the optical drive.
2. Opened control panel and clicked "User Accounts". But in the left panel there is no option "Create a password reset disk". All I see are:

Jul 9, 2014I bought a laptop, specifically the Samsung QX410-J01. The Laptop came pre-installed with Windows 7, and I upgraded to Windows 8 on 10/26/2012. I bought the Windows 8 Pro product key, downloaded, and upgraded to Windows 8.
Just last week my laptops Motherboard failed and my computer would no longer start up. The HDD works just fine though so all my files are safe. I decided I wanted to build my own PC and I am simply waiting on my case to arrive.
My question is I want to use Windows 8 on my new PC. The problem I am facing is I do not know how I am going to install Windows on my new machine. I do not want to purchase a new install disk and license since I have already paid for the OS. I can only think of two options and I am not sure if either of them are right.
1. Plug in my laptops hard drive into the new desktop. Run Windows 8.1 on that and use the new Terabyte hard drive I bought as a second hard drive.
2. Somehow put Windows 8.1 on a flash drive and install it from the flash drive onto the new blank hard drive. Then use the product key that I had purchased to activate the OS onto the new hard drive!
I really do not want to have to purchase Windows again, but if I must I guess I will. I believe there has to be a way I doubt after being a loyal Microsoft customer, switching to Windows Phone recently, and buying an Xbox One, that Microsoft will just say "Too bad, buy it again".
Enter Password Black Screen Doesn't Accept Correct Password?
Aug 12, 2014I tried booting up my PC which has Windows 8 installed and it was working fine until yesterday.
It has a "Enter Password" screen upon start-up and I think it's a virus because it only lets me enter 10 characters and even though, I do put in the correct password, it still says it's incorrect. The computer also shuts down after 3 unsuccessful attempts.

Sep 15, 2014I have my Windows 8.1 PC's password policy set so that a password is not required when waking from sleep/shutdown. I used to be able to wake the PC from sleep and not put in a password, and I could turn the PC on after a shutdown without having to put in a password either. Since last week, though, when I turn my PC on, it will boot to the Windows loading screen and after loading for a bit, it will jump into the login screen and immediately report a login error that the username or password is incorrect. This happens before I even get a chance to type a username or password. The fact that I have to type in the username and password is strange because I have the PC set to bypass that option.

My email password since it is accessible via web is strong 16 characters long, random characters password and changed often. I would like to change the desktop password to something I can remember, still strong, but I don't change it as often since you have to get physical access to my desktop.
I assumed once I linked to the Microsoft account I could change the password on the machine without it changing my email password.
Is this not possible? I would prefer not to have to lower the security of my email account just to accommodate Windows 8. Never a problem before as my email clients stored the password.
