View 3 RepliesI find there are lots of driver updater tools available now, but how to select the best one? Yesterday, IObit Driver Booster was released, it said the easiest, one click "update" all outdated drivers. It's free version, but I don't know whether this free software are better.
View 17 Replies View RelatedMy Windows cannot be activated. I have tried several different methods of activation but none seem to work. My computer was Windows 8 pre-installed before purchase. Because of this I literally have no product key. I have checked my email and searched for anything that seems Windows related just to make sure of a product key to be found.
Eventually I came across a program that told me my product key. After I found my key, I then tried multiple methods of activation and nothing seemed to have worked. I am running Windows 8 on a 64-bit system. This problem started on the 28th of June and I found out that this could be a hacker attacking my key (using a key-gen and my key being used on another computer) how can I solve this!? any method I will try!

Upgraded to windows 8 pro, worked fine for sometime, but now it does not boot- says either error loading operating system or disc read error. Re installed Windows 8 after booting with another hard drive with winXP, worked fine for sometime, then it failed again displaying the same error messages. Been using this system since long, but this has never happened before. I have reinstalled again by the same procedure, but always wary of the same problem happening again.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to windows 8.1 when it was available and the first time I turned off my computer after upgrading, it all started and now I'm stuck in this automatic repair loop. To top it all off my mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3... has now become my main issue.
I have a bootable flash drive loaded with windows 8.1 and a bootable DVD loaded with windows 8.1 but my mobo supports only HDD and CD-rom...
I have no clue what to do, as I can't use a repair disc to repair my computer and I CANNOT Reset my PC, I have way to many files that I need on my HDD.
I recently clean installed windows 8 to my pc and now i get a kernel data inpage error when i start up. The pc has to restart for me to log in successfully. Check the dump file. I love windows 8 and going back to win7 is not an alternative.

While shutting downing my PC, a dialogue box with title "Windows application error" is displayed and gets automatically terminated. Error code number varies each time. This problem is started after i upgraded to 8.1. How can it be retrieved ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time I boot up Windows 8.1 I get a RunDDL error. Now I have done some research to see what is causing all this , and apparently I had a malware on my computer , so the reason this error keeps popping out is because it's looking for the file that has been removed. Now my question to you is how can this be fixed. I have an image provided below with the error message.
UPDATE : I was able to solve it all I had to do was the following steps:
1.)Download CCleaner
2.) Run Cleaner
3.) Go To Tools > Start Up > Remove The File.
I installed clean Windows 8. I checked the event viewer to see if everything is OK. But it has 4 critical error and they were all Kernel Power Error. I noticed these Kernel Power Errors are caused by when I restart my PC. Example is when I installed Photoshop, I restarted and I checked the Event Viewer Log. There was an event Kernel error created.
but here is where it gets complicated. When I boot to desktop after restarting my PC, it doesn't say my computer suffered from a serious error. I have to check it manually by going to the Event Viewer Logs. If I don't check the Event Viewer Log, I won't know.
There has also been times where my PC won't boot to Windows 8. I goes past BIOS and Windows boot screen, but it hangs there. It simply crashes.
I don't overclock my PC. My PC temps are always low old IDLE and always within the max temp under full load.I have installed and updated ALL drivers and BIOS. I thought this might be driver issue but I realized this happened when I installed it clean and booted up for the first time.
This does not happen in Windows 7. Only in Windows 8.

We are facing an issue with bitlocker on Windows 8 machines since its not encrypting Hard disks through GPO. we are getting the below error on the log files
failed to initiate drive encryption with the following exit code: 80070057
We are using the same GPO for windows 7 machines and its working completely fine and also Bitlcoker_to_go is working fine with both OS's.
Is there anything specific in GPO to check for bitlocker encryption in windows 8?
My new build with windows 8.1 installs fine but keeps crashing not even long enough to create account.
The specs for my pc are:
AMD A8-6600k 3.90GHz
TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8gb (2 x 4gb)
Gigabyte F2A88XM-HD3 AMD 88X
Kingston 120gb SSD
Superflower 300w Power Supply
When i first installed windows it worked for an hour or two then crashed, but now keeps crashing after minutes, and get the error code 0xc0000001 on startup.
Heres what i have tried so far:
Reinstalled windows 8.1 on same ssd and also tried it installed on a different HDD
Made sure cpu was correctly seated and checked everything is correctly connected.
Swapped RAM for another set which i know works from another computer
Flashed Bios to latest version
Run a cpu stress tests using UBCD which gave no errors
even tried installing windows 7 which still does the same
The pc never crashes in bios or when using UBCD.
I was getting the error in the picture when I shut down Windows 8 after a session.
It seems to have gone with the latest update but worth observing nonetheless.
I have several Windows 7 and 8.1 systems that can access the "Acronis Forum" web site without any problems. For some reason one system running Windows 8.1 gives me the Security Certificate error when I try to access it. I can eventually log on but as soon as I try to enter a post it kicks me off again.what happened to cause this error to start popping up. I don't think there are any other web sites that I access with this system that have this problem?

My firewall doesn't start anymore. The problem started after removing the damn iStartSurf (virus or whatever threat that is). I used adwcleaner_3.310.exe ( What is adwcleaner_3.310.exe ? | System Explorer ) that is the one that, I suppose, really removed the problem and then Malwarebytes Anti-Malware just in case. This last didn't find anything as I was expecting. (these steps are part of a guide for removing iStartSurf)
After rebooting, because adwcleaner finished its task, installing the anti-malware, while scanning with the latter I saw (not sure it wasn't already there since the log in) the control center complaining about the firewall off. I thought because of the scanning. At the end of the scan I couldn't turn the firewall on anyway.
I have followed a lot of guides and used different "fixing tools"... but nothing.
My Configuration:
windows 8.1
Avira antivir
standard windows firewall
removed malwarebytes
removed adwcleaner
Error reported:
- If I try to start the firewall from servises.msc it give me the error code 13
- If I try to open the advanced settings of the firewall from the control panel I get the error code 0x6D9
I have bought lenovo g50-70 just 20days back, it came with inbuilt windows 8.1, they did not give any recoverable disks with it rather they said to take back up of the OS into a usb stick but I forgot to take the backup and tried to partition the hard disk using EASEUS Partition manager then I got this error "0XC0000225"
I'm unable to boot the windows.
I have an HP that I cannot get to activate. I did a clean install and my login is an admin. I deselected installing Norton's during the reset but it was there when I booted up so I removed it with the Norton's removal tool. I tried activating by using the "Windows activation" from the search button and then tried by using an elevated command prompt of "slui.exe 4" but both ways gave me a 0xc0000022 error.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy sister's laptop kept getting notifications telling her that windows needed more disk space. So I decided to have a look at it because it should have a 320GB HDD.
On my computer, the C drive was showing 1 GB free out of 50 GB, I opened disk management and noticed that there was 200 odd GB in unallocated disk space. I wasn't able to allocate it or do anything with it, so I tried to format or delete the partitions in a clean install instead.
When trying to clean install, there are three partitions that appear, one is the 50 gb one, the other is system reserve or something and the last one is the remainder, over 200GB.
I don't know why but I can't delete all the partitions, in fact I can't delete any of the three. Also windows will only let me install to the 50GB one, when I try to install to the larger one I get an error: 0x80300024
I understand that the partitions may be read only? Is there anyway to format the whole hard drive into one partition again. Currently I've got it installing windows 8 to the 50 gb one so I can at least get into windows.
