I am trying to change my language in windows 8.1 from Spanish to English using DISM.
I have downloaded the language pack that I want to install and saved it to the root of my C Drive and renamed it to LP.mlc
I know little about what I am doing! I tried the command in CMD prompt, "dism /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:LP.mlc"

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem with Windows 8.1 Single Language Edition 64-bit (English/Russian/Ukrainian).
When Windows 8 updated to 8.1 last year through the Store, I lost the ability to Restore and Refresh (a feature I had used several times previously).
Since then I have been using the same installation of 8.1, and it has finally become too laggy and bloated and I need desperately to Restore (files are all backed up and removed from computer, ready for Restore).
Things I have tried already:
- Found my Product Key using a keyfind program. My version of 8.1 came preintalled on the laptop, no DVD case, or e-mails with Key.
- Made a recovery USB Flash Drive (my laptop doesn't have a DVD drive). Recovery drive works when I boot from BIOS, but says it is invalid when I try to Restore.
- Tried to download an official ISO file from Microsoft, but the site says my Product Key is invalid (its not invalid).
- Tried using the Enterprise Trial ISO to Restore, and am now stuck with an expired trial copy of Enterprise.
I still have the Recovery Partition, and didn't delete it when I made the Recovery USB.
My computer is an ASUS Zenbook prime UX31A. All I want is to Restore. Even if its back to Win 8. I do not understand why all options seem to be broken since the update to 8.1. It seems intentional.
I want to Restore legitimately, and use the product I bought legitimately. But if this continues I may have to seek "alternatives".
I just bought this Sony VAIO Fit 15a and i play fps games like League of Legends, Dota2 and COD4:MW and at the first ten or so minutes i play them smoothly but after that the fps will be halved and it seems like its lagging. I tried to play them all in lowest settings but the problem still persists.

is this something I can repair from my original 8.1 Pro ISO, either as ISO or extracted? The setup event logs mentions 3 errors, so presumably this is the issue.
I have a desktop computer running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. My computer suffered from an improper shutdown during a power outage. I am getting multiple error messages on logging in, and the sfc /scannow command shows several corrupt files, including msvcr80.dll and multiple others, preventing programs like Microsoft Word from running properly.
I am getting the message after running sfc /scannow in an elevated command prompt that Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
Details are included in the CBS.Log %WinDir%LogsCBSCBS.log. I used the findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%LogsCBSCBS.log >"%userprofile%Desktopsfcdetails.txt" command to get this log outputted to a sfcdetails.txt log, and it shows which files are corrupt.
I then decided to turn to DISM, in an elevated command prompt, to ensure the component store was good, so that SFC can fix the files. This is where I am getting lost.
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth states that: The component store is repairable. However, when I run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth , I am told (after some minutes of it running) that DISM failed, no operation was taken, with an error code of 0x80240021.
Looking at the dism.log file, I am seeing a very long log. These are the initial lines:

From what I can make, some file name or directory is incorrect? lately Iv'e been having trouble booting my windows 7 and decided that it's time to upgrade, I bought a copy ofr windows 8 64-bit from microsoft and burned it onto a disk using the windows 7 usb/dvd downloader. I was doing all this from a 32-bit and thus applied the bootsect.exe as needed. When i boot from the disk, everything runs smoothly. I insert the required code and select custom install.
At this point, i select the partitiion and proceed. as the installation proceeeds, it does not apear if the first phase of installation does anything, even after 5 minutes it stays at 0%. after it finaly switches to the next part, I wait again for the next phase, but it only throws up a message "windows cannot install required files. make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. error code 0x8007048F"
After multiple attempts I decided to reinstall windows 7, but now I get the same error.
In Win Mail I keep getting this error code every time I try to send in receive on just one of my mail accounts. It is a .rr. account. I am trying to download the windows 8.1 on a windows 8.0 Toshiba S855D-S5120Laptop. Laptop specs 2.3 APU A10 Quad Core, 700 Giga HDD, 8 Giga RAM, and graphic ATI 2 giga memory 1200 x 800 screen . The OS is the first edition of windows 8.0 and I had widows preview 8.1 on it downloaded from the windows store. When I download the windows 8.1 from the store, I get this error code 80240031 ( I looked up the error coded and it mean invalid file) at 50% file download. I have used the windows restore function to restore the laptop to windows 8.0 and still the windows update does not work. I have tried resetting setting to default factory settings and same thing happens with the download. I have also bought the window pro 8.1 pack and the same thing with the windows 8.1 it stops at 50% and same error code comes up. I have also done the WSReset.exe and no improvement. I have all of windows updates and still nothing I do is working.

I've checked the drive for errors and there are no problems. I can read /write files to the external drive. There is ample spare space on the external drive to store the backup file. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using Windows 8 Pro for about five months and running the backup utility for about four months with no major issues. I have used it to create a system image and scheduled to back up my data files weekly.
For the past two weeks I have been getting an error message "error code 0x80780049" along with a message that my files did not backup.
My backup is via esata to an external drive and as mentioned above this was working fine (I even tried a restore of a couple of files to prove it) but now it will not complete the backup. I even deleted the entire backup and started again from scratch but backup fails at about 50% completion. I have checked with windows defender and no viruses exist.
