View 4 RepliesI have used Google Chrome browser for years. Suddenly, it crashed. I uninstalled and reinstalled. No luck. Uninstalled with RevoUnistaller and deleted registry entries and leftover files. Reinstalled several times. No luck. IE, Firefox, etc. all work fine. Have 64bit computer with Windows 8.1 fully updated. Tried stable versions, beta, etc. Crashed when I try to open.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a thinkpad tablet 8 thinking it would be light years ahead of my 3 year old android tablet. man, am I disappointed.
The onscreen keyboard just sucks compared to my galaxy tab 7.7. not only do I have to press the little icon on the bottom of the screen to pop it up manually, there is zero feedback. no haptic feedback, can barely hear any sound, the number row is in a different page, and it doesn't auto fill any forms with previously typed info, such as email, names, etc.
And the android widgets is better than the Windows 8 tiles. The stock tiles for example, instead of showing my watched stocks, it cycles through a slideshow of useless info and would take forever to cycle through the stats I want.
On android, the keyboard would appear and disappear automatically depending on where u click on the browser. on windows u have to do it automatically. I'm using the stock ie browser.
So, I woke up this morning and realized the the wifi adapter on my ThinkPad 430 is disabled. It's been working perfectly fine for a couple years, but as of this AM it didn't work. My smart phone can connect to the wifi access point just fine. What I can check to get it working again?
I have Windows 8.
I have a lenovo thinkpad e430, but, i cannot find the bluetooth device. This is odd because i have installed the latest bluetooth driver for windows eight x64 from lenovo's official support page yet, although i have restarted the computer and though .net framework is installed (if im correct, is there anyway i can check) i cannot find any place to turn on bluetooth.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Thinkpad X61 Tablet. It was running Windows 7 Ultimate before I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro. When I invoked the Touch Keyboard in Desktop mode, the window would automatically resize as I type (i.e. window on top, keyboard below). However, this weekend I performed a clean install of Windows 8 since I wasn't happy with some of the quirks from an upgrade. Now, I can no longer get the automatic screen resize when I initiate the Touch Keyboard (i.e. window stays behind keyboard, making it hard to see what I am typing). Are there settings I need to change? Is it something that was carried over from Windows 7 during my upgrade but I deleted it with my clean install?
Update: Just figured out how to get the automatic resize. You have to maximize the Touch Keyboard. I guess I must have been using it in maximized form without realizing it.
I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon that came with Windows 8 Pro. After upgrading to Windows 8.1 Pro, I'm getting BSOD with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE at random times. It doesn't seem tied to sleep, wake, or any power state changes.
I think I've updated all the drivers, bios and Windows. I've tried turning off the BIOS pwer mgmt, but it still happens.
I've attached the minidump info.
Recently I noticed when I go to use the search in Windows 8 it crashes after a few letters are typed and goes back to the start screen.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have a computer we're running Windows 8.1 Pro, which keeps crashing - typically overnight, and typically when we're running large computational simulations.
I have been working on parsing the WinDBG outputs, and finally got to:
Probably caused by : GenuineIntel
But before that, I see:
BugCheck 124, {0, ffffe0011caf8028, be000000, 100110a}
***** Kernel symbols are WRONG. Please fix symbols to do analysis.
But I am not 100% sure what I'm looking at. In WinDBG I am pretty sure I've succesfully pointed the symbol path to download symbols correctly from msdn.
So we ran "dm log collector", the ZIP is attached.
p.s. We do have a large RAID drive attached via USB3; connecting that seemed to correlate to the start of these crashes, but that might be wishful correlation seeking.
My new build with windows 8.1 installs fine but keeps crashing not even long enough to create account.
The specs for my pc are:
AMD A8-6600k 3.90GHz
TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8gb (2 x 4gb)
Gigabyte F2A88XM-HD3 AMD 88X
Kingston 120gb SSD
Superflower 300w Power Supply
When i first installed windows it worked for an hour or two then crashed, but now keeps crashing after minutes, and get the error code 0xc0000001 on startup.
Heres what i have tried so far:
Reinstalled windows 8.1 on same ssd and also tried it installed on a different HDD
Made sure cpu was correctly seated and checked everything is correctly connected.
Swapped RAM for another set which i know works from another computer
Flashed Bios to latest version
Run a cpu stress tests using UBCD which gave no errors
even tried installing windows 7 which still does the same
The pc never crashes in bios or when using UBCD.
Every five minutes I recieve the BSOD and it says critical_process_died. The weird thing is, I reset my computer back to factory settings and as soon as I booted it did it again... I got my computer to work for like 10 minutes and as soon as I thought it stopped for good, it did it again.
My PC sometimes crashes during bootup too.
Edit: I was just downloading something and halfway in it said something like "Failed to download and install files". Then the taskbar in the bottom of my screen disapeared and my computer got the BSOD saying "Critical_Process_Died"...
Everytime i use the internet or watch videos on youtube in some minutes my pc crashes cause of tcpip.sys.

I run the install, clean system, it goes through the install fine. When it gets to the first getting drivers ready screen, it's crashes with an IRQ error. Now this only happens on my computer, has installed fine on another test system. I'm running an Asrock X79 Extreme4-M mother board, with 32 gig 1866 ram, intel i7 3820, setting in the bios have been set to default UEFI. Windows 8 installs fine, but 8.1 crashes every time.

I tried to reinstall Windows 8.1 (OS I had when I bought laptop), reinstall all drivers, install new drivers but its still crashing. Also tried to run it in safe mode but it crashed there too.

Ever since I installed Windows -8 Pro ( 64 bit ) on my MultiMonitor system, all my screens go black with following error message.
" AMD Drivers stopped Responding & has Recovered"
It happens so many times an hour that I had to stop usingWindows -8 completely. Even the worst thing is that if I have more than one harddrive & driver crashes, then on next reboot my system automatically startsdisk checking which takes hours for a 3.0 GB slave HDD. I never had thisproblem with Windows -7 using the same system.
My system configuration is as follows.
Dell T-7500 Workstation.

12 GB DDR3 RAM
AMD Fire Pro 2460 Video Cards ( 3 of them. Each supports 4Monitors )

I downloaded AMD Drivers for workstation & FirePro 2460Video card from following AMD Links.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy partner's PC decided to start acting up on windows xp, so after a few attempts to fix it we decided to go down the windows 8 option since it was on special offer at the time. After a few installations failed to boot properly (i.e. they'd install and then crash) we did a complete format and reinstall. As it stands we can get into windows 8, it works fine for a few minutes and then it crashes (no BSOD, just a freeze, no mouse movement etc). We've tried a couple of fixes (ran "bcdedit /set disabledynamictick no" and yes in cmd and refreshing the install) unfortunately nothing seems to stop it from crashing 3-5 minutes into the boot.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThere is a very annoying issue with my Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit. For some unknown reason sound stops working several times a day. Audio usually crashes when I start, pause/unpause or stop a video (XBMC, KMPlayer, Youtube), music, game, or anything that involves sound. The only thing what can make audio work again is restarting Windows Audio Service.
This crash does not happen in every case, only several times a day.
One more interesting symptom: when I listen to music on foobar2000 and audio crashes, then the playback of music doesn't stop, sound is still working (only on foobar2000, anywhere else it stops), but I cannot change the volume inside foobar2000. Once I stop the music stream and try to start it again, then the sound does not work at all in foobar2000 either.
This problem exists on laptop's built in speaker, audio jack and HDMI output too. Interesting though, when sound is on HDMI output and crashes, Windows system sounds (such as sound for UAC prompt) are still working, but they are outputted to the built in laptop speaker.
My laptop is ASUS K55VJ
Previously I had Windows 8 installed, it didn't have the issue. This is a clean Windows 8.1 install, not an upgrade from Windows 8. Reinstallation of drivers does not work.
I had a problem a few months ago on Windows 8.1 I was unable to solve so I reinstalled windows 8 and was able to put my computer to sleep and wake again. Upon re-updating to Windows 8.1 I once again have the problem of a crash when trying to come out of sleep.
I tried Windows 8.1 again because of hardware changes that allowed me to uninstall a few outdated drivers, but that did not fix the problem. What may be causing it to crash when trying to wake?

I don't know what's wrong but every time I try to play a video in the preinstalled video player it crashes. It'll open the video and even play it but between every 8 to 10 minutes it shuts down and brings me back to the start screen and I have to reopen the video and find where I was. I know it's not the video files themselves because it's happening on every video and I can watch the entire video, I just have to reopen it multiple time and find the spot it shut down on. I could use a different program but it's my favorite video player and I'd like to fix it if I could.

View 3 Replies View RelatedInternet Explorer keeps crashing!
I have Windows 8 64 bit and I use the desktop Internet Explorer (I don't know what version it is, 10 I imagine?)
Anyway whenever I try to watch a video on Youtube or watch Netflix Internet Explorer crashes.
I have reset the settings on it and troubleshooted it and even downloaded a pc cleaner and cleaned up the pc and still nothing works.
I have the latest version of Adobe Flash and Silverlight.
My computer has been crashing mostly while playing Guild Wars 2 and Archeage. It will crash, go to a weird colored screen, and I have to manually shut it off. I did a memtest and everything checked out, and I also tried switching the power supply out with one that wasn't having any problems and that didn't work either. I've also tried playing the games on the lowest settings and it still doesn't really work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with my Windows 8 PC, as it keeps crashing (Page Fault in non-paged area). Not everyday and not while doing anything special. I can play games without any issue - and then be editing a document and it shuts down.
I replaced my HD for a SD back in May but since then i havent made any changes to the setup.
I have attached the SFdebug files.
About 6 days ago my computer started to crash (as in no shutdown sequence, just straight off) and reboot on the hour, every hour. So 11am, 12pm, 1pm on the dot.
I tried memtest to see if it was a memory issue and it ran for 3 hours with no errors. Safe mode is not effected so it seems to be specific to windows proper.
Here are the main details about the error:
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION 0x0000003b Caused by driver ntoskrnl.exe
There was a weird error message in task scheduler as well, which I have posted in the screenshots below.
I have also attached the logs and a dump from blue screen view.
I see that many Cedar Trail devices (Intel Atom N2600 with Intel GMA 3600/Power SGX545) run Windows 8 quite well due to its dual core architecture. However, when using the Intel's currently supplied GMA 3600 driver (dated 1/2012), all Windows 8 Metro apps crash when attempting to run them. I cold use Microsoft's default display driver, but with that one, I'm limited to 1024 x 768 and sleep won't work.
So far, there is no word from Intel on whether new GMA 3600 drivers for Windows 8 will emerge. Asus thinks that new drivers will never be possible. However, it appears that some Atom Z2760 devices like Acer's W510 may be powered by GMA 3600 / SGX545 after all. Of note, Samsung's Z2760-powered Series 5 tablet has some Intel GMA drivers available for Windows 8 via this link.
I figured I'd try them on a Fujitsu Q552, which has GMA 3600. The error message I get with Windows 8 Pro RTM is "this driver does not support this version of Windows" which seems weird given that I'm running Windows 8 Pro.
I'm not sure if the INF can be modified to support Cedar Trail devices, particularly since the GPU appears to be the same, albeit at a different clock speed (just like GMA500 vs. GMA600). I remember seeing this about some modded drivers that XDleader555 made for GMA500/600 -- interestingly, some versions of EMGD drivers (like 1.10) seem to work well with GMA500 devices like Fujitsu's UH900 with Windows 8, in my experience.
Summary of Links:
Intel's GMA 3600 Driver for Windows 7: Link
Samsung Series 5 Slate GMA Driver for Windows 8: Link
I've an odd issue. Every time I boot up my computer for the first time in the evening after work, it will freeze and crash several times but then remain fine for the rest of the night after multiple restarts. The cycle then repeats itself the next day.
