View 1 RepliesWindows 8 x64 explorer keeps crashing and restarting randomly when trying to copy/paste, use context menus, right click options on folders and etc.

I tried using shexview-x64 and disabling custom options from shell integration, but didn't work.
Internet Explorer keeps crashing!
I have Windows 8 64 bit and I use the desktop Internet Explorer (I don't know what version it is, 10 I imagine?)
Anyway whenever I try to watch a video on Youtube or watch Netflix Internet Explorer crashes.
I have reset the settings on it and troubleshooted it and even downloaded a pc cleaner and cleaned up the pc and still nothing works.
I have the latest version of Adobe Flash and Silverlight.
The folder had over 900 hundred files so I placed them in separate files after reading that too many files causes explorer to crash, however when I change 2 of the 7 folders to details explorer automatically crashes, for one it closes as soon as I change it to details and for the other, it closes when I scroll down, they're mostly photos and videos, also I should mention that before I put them in separate folders, it kept crashing when I tried to open it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy new build with windows 8.1 installs fine but keeps crashing not even long enough to create account.
The specs for my pc are:
AMD A8-6600k 3.90GHz
TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8gb (2 x 4gb)
Gigabyte F2A88XM-HD3 AMD 88X
Kingston 120gb SSD
Superflower 300w Power Supply
When i first installed windows it worked for an hour or two then crashed, but now keeps crashing after minutes, and get the error code 0xc0000001 on startup.
Heres what i have tried so far:
Reinstalled windows 8.1 on same ssd and also tried it installed on a different HDD
Made sure cpu was correctly seated and checked everything is correctly connected.
Swapped RAM for another set which i know works from another computer
Flashed Bios to latest version
Run a cpu stress tests using UBCD which gave no errors
even tried installing windows 7 which still does the same
The pc never crashes in bios or when using UBCD.
When I boot up I get the message asking if I want to pin internet explorer although it is already pinned on my start and desktop. Is there anyway to stop it appearing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading my OS to Win 8.1 Pro, (upgraded from 8.0) when using Explorer it keeps locking up and hangs the entire machine - the mouse freezes and the entire thing locks up, the only way to recover is to reboot the PC.
Looking at it, it looks like it might be caused by pop ups from the page I am viewing at the time - If I use IE it locks up on the initial page, if I switch to Chrome the point where IE locks up is the same point that Chrome opens a second window within the main window.
I cannot access anything, cannot get task manager or switch programs, nothing - I have to power off and restart.
Whenever I boot my PC, explorer.exe suddenly pops out a message with no message on it. What is this error? For more detail about the "Message" that I am talking about, check the attachment....
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I start A3, it boots up just fine, then when I try to start a campaign/showcase mission or Multiplayer server, the screen starts getting horizontal lines jumping on the screen/blurred blocks sometimes as well, and then my computer either freezes up or automatically restarts, sometimes I can close ARMA n goto desktop but that gets whacked out as well doing the same thing basically on my homescreen. It then proceeds to do the same thing to me when I'm just on the desktop trying to open Google Chrome or any other task for that matter, still getting the "Display Driver Has Stopped Responding and Has Recovered" in the bottom right corner of Windows.
I've literally tried everything regarding troubleshooting this matter and to no success: Updating Drivers/Windows, Tweaking Catalyst CC settings, Disabling Hibernation, Even Refreshing the PC (Windows 8.1), Booting in Safe Mode (MSConfig), scanned for Viruses, complete Reinstall of ARMA 3, ... This has been driving me crazy the last few days and cannot figure out for the life of me why it is doing this now?? ARMA 3 was running great the first 4 or 5 months I've had it and has never had issues like this, it seems it all started after trying to join a server Online and then it crashed and froze and has been doing this Display Driver Error stuff ever since (I did recently download new Mods as well).. Do complete PC Reset is necessary? I mean after the PC Refresh, my desktop and everything else was running amazingly fast and smooth, everything was up to date, I re-installed ARMA 3 and tried again to play this morning, sadly the same errors occurred and Lines are jumping all over my screen and everything is lagging. Well here is my PC info:
AMD FX-Series FX-6300 (3.50GHz)
8GB DDR3 500GB HDD
Windows 8.1 64Bit
AMD Radeon R7 250 2GB
Windows 8 Pro, latest updates.
Strange error message in last couple days on startup, sometimes at other times.
Explorer.exe (in title bar of message)
In message section-yellow triangle with exclamation point, followed by "Windows can't find the target".
What target?
Explorer is working, as I can open a folder, etc.
I tried SFC /scannow, and it reported no problems.
A Google search of the term found no hits.
Info: Dell Inspiron 15, Windows 8 premium, I5, 4GB
What do I have to do when faced with the following error message:
Catalyst Control Center: Host application has stopped working
I have a close program option. I do it. Nothing looks different. Everything works as before.
Suddenly my toshiba windows 8 laptop was like corrupted and there is a message error came out like this 0xc000000e and I could not logon to my system already. I do not have a recovery disk with me and maybe there is any other way to restore my laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a new laptop last week: Lenovo G500.it has Windows 8 pre-installed.at present i am still using the pre-installed McAfee Internet security programme for my AV;i have successfully done all updates(which are set to automatic)
However-despite 5 attempts to free upgrade to 8.1 i am still getting the Error Code 0x80072ee2 message and installation fails. on checking this out i am finding 'fixes' but these require installation of 'repair tool' type applications(only operable if bought etc).
When you try to delete WLM messages you get this error
"An unknown error has occurred" and the message cannot be deleted.
People with this problem, often need to delete multiple messages or entire folders. That error appears because WLM only thinks it has that/those message(s), but actually that message is nowhere to be found in the the Windows email folders. The message exists no longer, but WLM still shows it as being in its own folders and you simply cannot delete it using the normal procedure.
For the easier way, one can drag the unwanted and non-existing emails to the Deleted Items folder, one by one. However, that is crazy when you have to get rid of hundreds or thousands of them (yes, I had that situation!).
This is how to trick WLM if you want to delete multiple emails giving you that error:
1. We try to simulate forwarding multiple messages. Select multiple emails by clicking on one and then using SHIFT to click and select multiple concatenated messages. Do that screen after screen (scroll down/up). Stop when you see the FORWARD button has become grey. That means one email is even more stubborn and doesn't even want to be forwarded.
2. Hold the SHIFT key and click the messages up and down until you find the culprit. It will be just outside your selection, when your selection manages to un-grey the Forward button.
3. With a lot of messages selected and concatenated, click on the Forward button. You'll get another error message "One or more messages could not be attached. Select OK to continue creating the note." Click Cancel.
4. Now something has unblocked those messages (or message information) and, with the selection on, you can Delete them by simply clicking the Red X (delete) button.
5. The message that made the Forward button grey, can now be deleted as well.
6. Keep doing that until you finish the bunch of messaged you wanted to delete when you got the initial error.
My laptop keeps crashing with the error Random BSOD, Driver_IRQL_Not_less_or_equal tcpip.sys, and looking through it with blue screen view, I've noticed that each one has something different for the primary reason.
I have attached all of the crashes through the beginning of the month.
I have been getting an error message when the computer shuts down, how to fix the problem? Could this be related to sleep issues the computer is having?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs of late I have been getting the Error Message
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
I frequently Copy or "Cut and Paste" Files from one HDD to another and to this day never had any problems doing so.
I just Installed a fresh copy of Windows 8.1 Pro (retail) to my C Drive and am assuming that it must be a setting inside Windows 8 that I am not seeing.
The Admin Account on this Machine is Disabled. I did not change it it was that way after Install.
I open the Store, open the charm bar and navigate to settings. I click on the "Your account" option and the sign-in button apears on screen. When I click it, nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. I have to close the screen to exit the page.
Furthermore, when I search for an app and click the "install" button for that perticular app, the Store crashes; closing down immediately.
I already ran sfc /scannow but no problems found. I also ran the wsreset.exe but also to no avail.
I tried switching to my MS account, same issue. So am now back on a local account.
It has to do something with the account or a policy that is active on my account I assume ?
I am getting a BSOD since one week randomly with the message IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. BlueScreen Viewer showes me, that it is caused by the driver ntoskrnl.exe. Before I got this BSOD I updated my Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.1.1 . Since this time, this error happens randomly!
My system specs are the following:
Laptop: Asus S400 CA
CPU: Intel Core I5 3317 U @ 1,70 GHz
Memory: 8 GB
Graphics: Intel HD Grpahics 4000
Mainbord: Asustek S400 CA
Antivirus: Avast! Internet Security (Version: 140512-0)
Before I got this IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR _EQUAL error I also got the BSOD Driver_Power_State_Failure. I figured out, that it might be the Bluetooth Driver, as buescreenviewer stated the driver causing the error is btfilter.sys.
I attached also a SF Diagnostic Tool File!.
Started using my freshly installed Windows 8.1 Pro this week...When i go to a file (any filetype...i tried like 10..) and click "choose default program..." in the context menu, the following error message will always come up:
Sure i can go to Config panel > Select default programs etc.But this is odd... since i am 100% confident it used to work fine before.I already did a 'sfc /scannow' checkup with an original 8.1 Pro x64 image but it says integrity is completely fine.
Could it be a random piece of software i uninstalled which was perhaps freeware and did not state it was Windows 8 compatible, leaving a cluttered registry key which is affecting this command from my context menu?
In Windows 8, I am creating a scheduled task:
When confirm all dialog windows, the error message "unsupported request" is displayed. How come?
I am beyond the veil of anger with this. I believe something is wrong with my DirectX 11 on Windows 8.1. I would go to play certain games, and it would pop up an error message saying "Cannot Set Display Mode" or something similar to that. I get the feeling it's DirectX, as I had recently updated it, but did nothing to interfere. I have spent the last week (literally) trying to fix this, and everything has failed. I understand that DirectX 11 comes with Windows 8 and everything, but when Windows doesn't even realize that it's malfunctioning (DXDiag did not work, nor did the thousands of Runtime Installers I tried), something is definitely wrong.
View 3 Replies View RelatedStarting today I'm experiencing some odd BSOD at random moments. There doesn't seem to be any odd behaviour when it happens, for example it might be completely stationary (I'm not even doing anything on my computer), or I'm browsing the web. The only programs that are running at the moment are Google Chrome, Steam, AVG, dropbox, skype, google play and the AMD CCC.
The BSOD gives no extra information, because right at the moment the line where it should say what kind of problem it could be, the computer restarts immediately. I tried to look for the MEMORY.DMP file, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
While setting up a new system tried to install win 8.1 and got the IRQL screen.

New to windows 8. I'm connecting my wireless HP printer office jet 4500. I was in the process of downloading and installing the software and was stopped by this message. " Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before completing this install." Earlier I tried to install the software for an Iomega external hard drive that had crashed. It wouldn't work so I think I took the cd out without ejecting it. To the best of my knowledge there is no other installation going on. Where would I find out if a program is being installed so I can stop it?
