View 4 RepliesI built my PC from scratch on Friday 18th April. On the evening of 21st April I turned my PC on and saw a USB error popping up in a yellow box on the bottom right of my screen. This error was popping up every 5 se conds without fail.
I tried to uninstall the drivers for all USB ports and reinstall but this didn't work. Instead I inspected the error from my Device Manager and read this:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed." ((Port_#0011.Hub_#0003)) My USB devices
I have a Gigabyte H87 3HD Motherboard, a Nvidia GTX 760 graphics card, Intel i5 4440 Quad core processor, EVGA 650w Power Supply. I have Windows 8.1 64-bit as an OS.
With all my USB devices plugged in or without ANY plugged in, the error still pops up regardless. This leads me to believe it could be a problem with the motherboard itself.
I have tried the following solutions:
On and Off againUpdated BIOS to F6 VersionUpdated Windows 8.1Updated Chipset + all DriversWindows Hot FixesUsing CMD and NetMon to asses the USB portsSystem restore
I even right clicked on the error on the Device Manager, uninstalled and the error was still pinging up. Is my computer haunted? None of these have worked. I feel like I have exhausted all my options hence why I have named the thread as such.
I have Win.8 64 and Chrome was the only browser between IE and Firefox that worked with out ads popping up in the middle of the pages and even articles, but now they're doing it when I use Chrome.
I.E. doesn't work at all and Firefox is slow and saying I need to install all kinds of things, like FLV Player.... just all kinds of stuff.
How to permanently disable the stupid charms bar? I downloaded this program called SkipMetroSuite and checked all the appropriate boxes, but it doesn't seem to work. The damn charms bar keeps popping up when I least expect it.

A video of the highlights of the laptop keeps playing after each period of 30 or 40 secs of inactivity. I move the cursor and the video disappears till the next period of inactivity. I've looked everywhere I could think of, libraries, task manager, both drives etc etc... It is well hidden or disguised.

Disrupts my scrolling and then I have to get rid of the useless junk before I can clear the screen. Can I eliminate this intrusion without going to a new operating system? I have windows 8.1 with all of the latest updates.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I am typing it appears that there is some type of shortcut that I am hitting which then pops up that navigation bar on the right hand side (where settings, search, etc. is). I would like to disable any of these shortcuts so this doesn't happen at all when I am typing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhy my start menu keeps popping up on my right side of my screen? Then I can't play my games
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy win 8.1 pops out the Start menu bar (dunno what it's officially called but it is a vertical bar with Search, Share, Start, Device, and Setting) when I scroll the right edge of my touchpad (Dell inspiron), and if I tap on the mouse it flips right to the Start screen. I see Microsoft is really doing everything they can to get the users to the Start screen. But this is really annoying because I have no business in the Start screen, unfortunately. i never go there and never will.
How can I stop the windows from doing this?
I want to be able to use steam and hamachi properly but i can't get them to pop up on the screen.on steam i can right-click and open friends,....But the base window won't open up,it is there but i can't get it on the screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis keeps popping up in the lower right corner of my screen every time I boot up.. What it is.. right or left clicking on it has no effect, nor clicking on any of the 4 icons. The only active area is the little arrow on the left that closes the popup. It may be part of Windows 8 or may be some part of the ASUS addons that were installed with my system..
View 9 Replies View RelatedI think I got this Event Log error after I upgraded to 8.1 but I' not sure. Anyway, when I go to event viewer I get a message that says "One or more logs in the query have errors" and then is says the Log that it cannot find is "Microsoft-Windows-DxpTaskRingtone/Analytic". I have looked and the log does not exist and OF COURSE when I try to cheat the system and create the log it does not like the "/" in the name! What the heck is going on and how I can tell Windows 8.1 to create the log.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy Windows cannot be activated. I have tried several different methods of activation but none seem to work. My computer was Windows 8 pre-installed before purchase. Because of this I literally have no product key. I have checked my email and searched for anything that seems Windows related just to make sure of a product key to be found.
Eventually I came across a program that told me my product key. After I found my key, I then tried multiple methods of activation and nothing seemed to have worked. I am running Windows 8 on a 64-bit system. This problem started on the 28th of June and I found out that this could be a hacker attacking my key (using a key-gen and my key being used on another computer) how can I solve this!? any method I will try!
Not sure how to fix this below dcom error.

A lot of people make mention of the weather app and other apps. I've read the threads on eightforums.com about this issue and other ones elsewhere and it seems people recommend different solutions since it looks like different symptons cause this problem. Some talk about making it a local service, others part of System, and changing various ownership permissions. I don't use any metro apps and I did disable the two skydrive tasks that didn't work that cleared up a few dcom errors. It seems the registry settings that people use to fix this error can cause more harm than good so I'd like to avoid changing the registry.
I've uninstalled all my metro apps, even re-installed them, then uninstalled again but still get this error. Strangely, it occurs EXACTLY and only at 10am EST everyday. According to task scheduler, the only event running at this time is the following:
MicrosoftWindowsWindowsBackup (The Scheduled Task notifies the user that Windows backup has not been configured" Last run result: This operation requires an interactive window station (0x800705B3)
Would it be safe to disable this task and do you think this will clear up this dcom error? I don't use filehistory except to occasionally manually create a system image in case I mess something up badly. The system automatically creates system restores each day.
I get this error code every time I try and download the upgrade. It gets to around 16%-22% complete before it stops. I'll come back and I'll see this error screen, screenshot below. I've tried restarting my PC a hundred times and tried re-installing it a hundred times. I bought Windows 8 Pro a few months back. I also went into Window Update and made sure every thing was installed, all are updated to the latest.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Windows 8 from Micro$oft. I thought I had created a disk image using Acronis software but apparently I did not. Recently I started getting MBR Error 3 on boot up but my computer still boots into Windows. Since I did not receive an installation disk from my MS download, is there another way to rebuild my original MBR so I don't get the MBR Error 3 message?

Upgraded to windows 8 pro, worked fine for sometime, but now it does not boot- says either error loading operating system or disc read error. Re installed Windows 8 after booting with another hard drive with winXP, worked fine for sometime, then it failed again displaying the same error messages. Been using this system since long, but this has never happened before. I have reinstalled again by the same procedure, but always wary of the same problem happening again.

I upgraded to windows 8.1 when it was available and the first time I turned off my computer after upgrading, it all started and now I'm stuck in this automatic repair loop. To top it all off my mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3... has now become my main issue.
I have a bootable flash drive loaded with windows 8.1 and a bootable DVD loaded with windows 8.1 but my mobo supports only HDD and CD-rom...
I have no clue what to do, as I can't use a repair disc to repair my computer and I CANNOT Reset my PC, I have way to many files that I need on my HDD.
I recently clean installed windows 8 to my pc and now i get a kernel data inpage error when i start up. The pc has to restart for me to log in successfully. Check the dump file. I love windows 8 and going back to win7 is not an alternative.

I am using InsydeH20 rev 3.5 F.48 bios my chipset is AMD 1705 rev 0: steps for an upgrade to UEFI required.
I keep getting a blue screen no clue what the cause might be, rar file containing two dmp files.
OS : win 8.1
Recently I updated to 8.1, and now after maybe a week I get the occasional Instruction memory error with 0x000000 type codes.
At one point whenever I logged in it would popup with explorer.exe failed, so I wouldn't be able to do anything on the PC, I restored to a system restore point and it now is gone, however I will see it every now and again. Not a big deal now, but I would like to repair it if possible, as it obviously can't be doing any good for the PC.
