I'd like to submit an annoying issue that concerns my Windows 8 Samsung XE700T1A. I've just bought a new wifi access point, that is 8.11n compliant (300Mb). The problem is that the tablet connect only in 8.11g (54Mb).
The wifi board is Qualcomm option gtm67x, and the driver has been released on July 2002. I'm wondering if it's a windows 8 issue or a slate issue.
I have Samsung slate xe700t1a and recently downloaded and installed the lates bios from Samsung. After the installation the machine rebooted and all I get is black screen. Not even the Samsung logo, just the blue power led light comes on. I have tried all the button combo boot up power windows key, vol up and down and nothing can't even access the bios. I contacted support and that was a waste of time. Maybe removing ssd drive and connecting using mini sata to sata cable on my pc.

My ISP is comcast and I have one of their modems that came with wifi im guessing it doubles as a router seeing i direct connect to it with my laptop. however my wifi works for my xbox one, a nexus 7 tablet a xbox 360 ,a printer and two smartphones with no issues what so ever. They are not all on at once so max connections shouldnt be a issue. I've spent hours on the phone with comcast and they insist its the laptop and not the wifi, how to go about fixing the issue. I've checked the drivers and their up to date then uninstalled and reinstalled still no luck. i use firefox for browsing and AVG for antivirus.

Until recently, I’ve had no problem connecting to the Internet via WiFi. But recently, although everything says I’m connected to our home WiFi and things are working swimmingly, I cannot access anything on the Internet. I get messages like “Unable to connect” or “Cannot show this page.”
We have other computers on the same WiFi, and none of them are having a problem.
I’ve tried several remedies based on tips I’ve seen on the Internet (using a different computer, of course). For example, I:
Deleted all the temp files.
Flushed a bunch of stuff using the Admin. Command Prompt:

I have a tiny wireless piece from realtek that my dad had bought. This piece was working fine up until recently. I had built my own tower and put the piece in there from our old one.. All has been working up until now. Now when I turn on my new tower the wifi connects but does not work. No browsers load and none of my services are working. It also messes up the wifi connection for the other devices around. My sibling will be using their laptop playing something like WoW and when I power up my tower the lag hits. From time to time it will drop my laptop's internet connection entirely. However, this is not the case recently. The router we use is a linksys e2000.
Every now and then the pages load but they are slow and blocky. My dad says it is usually caused by a loss of packets but I did the packet test in cmd and only had a 1% loss.
My laptop is few months old HP Pavilion g6 OS: Windows 8 uses a ralink rt5390r 802.11bgn wifi adapter.
The wifi was working just fine suddenly it stopped. It detects my home network but every time it tries to connect ends up "unable to connect to this network". It connects to my friends wifi but not mine. And it connects with cable.
There is a red cross on the wifi network but it's green not GREY. It is not a modem problem because the other PC connects just fine. When I'm on wifi, cmd ipconfig gives me disconnected media for all the network cards on the laptop. Command netsh shows failure and access denied.
What I have tried to do for the past week :
I upgraded the adapter/ driver. My windows is fully updated. I re-installed the network card. I tried a USB wifi. I uninstalled the private server. I uninstalled my Norton because I thought it was blocking the connection I also deactivated the windows fire wall. I changed the SSID and PSW ... nothing worked. and of course I tried restarting, resetting, rebooting, deactivating and activating, disabling and enabling every single thing but nothing works.
My windows 8 laptop will not connect to the wifi hotspot of my samsung galaxy s3. My windows 7 laptop connects just fine & the windows 8 laptop connects to my broadband router ok so it doesnt seem to be a physical problem.

Sometimes the update prompt disappears even though it was not installed. Today it prompted me to install an update called "Qualcomm Atheros Communications driver update for Bluetooth Module" and failed.
Error code 80070103.
I have 2 PC's, on the SAME IP range and the same network. The one is a Win 7 Pro machine and the other one a Windows 8 Pro machine
Both connect to a VPN network using the SAME Cisco VPN Client
Now BOTH connect fine to the VPN (status on Cisco VPN client says Connected).
Here is the problem:
The Windows 7 machine can access and ping to a local address on the VPN, nl 192.165.34.20.
The Windows 8 machine, however, cannot ping to that same address, although it is connected to the VPN.
I have done a CLEAN install on the windows 8 machine and have NO antivirus programs - Windows firewall is also disabled.
I have run the Client on the Windows 8 machine in various compatibility modes, but no luck..
I have two Win 8 Pro comps that will connect to one XP Pro computer but will not connect to another. They are online, on the web and can access data from our server but they are not able to access the non-server computers even though they show in the computers near me list. I never had an issue before and now no matter what I fix they will not connect to the other computers. The XP Pro I want to connect to has my counter dot matrix printer and if Win 8 is not connecting we cannot print. I CAN see and access the Win 8 computers FROM the XP PRo computer with the printer attached.
As a side note the two Win 8 comps see each other but will not connect to each other either.
I did NOT create a restore point before doing the upgrade.
About a week ago, I updated my Windows 8 laptop (a year-old Lenovo Ideapad) to Windows 8.1. At first, it appeared that the upgrade went flawlessly. After a couple of hours though, the crack started showing. I found two issues:
1. I could connect to the internet after a reboot, but if I didn't ACTIVELY continue working on the internet, the connection would die. The only way that I could get it to 'resume' was to reboot. I was using a wireless connection. Tried a wired connection with the same issue. No other machine on the network were experiencing the issue.
2. I use Remote Desktop EXTENSIVELY to connect to client machines. All connections work EXCEPT for one which uses an RD Gateway within the connection. That connection will appear to start connecting after I enter the credentials, then simply close. No error. No message. The RDP connection simply closes. I tried building the connection again from scratch. Same issue.
3. Meanwhile, I noticed that my email (via Outlook 2010) never stopped...THAT part of the internet connection remains 'solid'. Very odd.
No matter what troubleshooting I did, I couldn't solve the problem. So, I decided to see if it was Windows 8.1 or my machine.
I went out an purchased (albeit probably temporarily) a brand new Toshiba Satellite (L55-A5284) with Windows 8.1 ALREADY INSTALLED. No upgrade required. I turned on the machine, and did NOTHING ELSE, but create a Remote Desktop connection to my client. I was able to connect instantly. YEAH! Must be MY upgrade on the Lenovo, not Windows 8.1.
Then, things get REALLY weird (or weirder). I signed off of the client site (I mean, after all, I'd proven that it was my old machine and NOT Windows 8.1, hadn't I?). Almost as soon as I'd signed off and shut the computer off, I realized that I needed something from the client machine. Since it will take me a while to restore my Lenovo, I figured that I'd get work taken care of first, and went to turn on and use the new laptop (Toshiba). Well, imagine my surprise when I could NOT CONNECT again via RDP on the new Toshiba with nothing additional installed on it except for the Remote Desktop connection.
I had let the system update Windows when I shut down and figured that it must be the update that was just installed, so I restored the machine back to factory (I mean why not...I had only created one Remote Desktop connection on the machine). After the restore THE CONNECTION WORKED AGAIN. Sign on, check. Sign off, check. Sign on again, NOPE. Restore computer (again), Sign on, check. Sign off, check. Sign on again, NOPE. So, while I am far from being a hardware specialist, it seems to me that something isn't 'releasing' when I sign off. EVEN A REBOOT (hard or restart) doesn't work. The only thing which solves the issue is a RESTORE - either the kind that saves your files or the one that resets to factory...either one 'resets' the connection, so that I can get on again ONE TIME.
I'm guessing that whatever's the issue with the new laptop (Toshiba) is also causing the internet instability AND the RDP problem on the old laptop (Lenovo).
Problem on some or all of our 8.1 devices.
We have a user without local admin rights, whenever he changes location or between wifi/lan on the office he gets an UAC prompt, it doesn't say anymore then "Network" but i assume it is for network profiles.
Why and how to get rid of it? it is an domain account with a microsoft account attached to it, syncing skydrive and som stuff.
I recently upgraded my Samsung Series 7 Ultra to the Windows 8.1 preview to check out it's new offerings. It's ok I suppose. Some positives and some negatives. Anyway on to my point:
So with the update came some unwanted changes. It seems to have disabled most of my func keys on the top row of my keyboard. Also, it now no longer saves my touchpad settings. They are reset to default everytime the system is rebooted.
I'm guessing this has to do with the Samsung software that controls these features not yet upated or ready to run on 8.1.
So I ordered two 1 TB Samsung 840 Evo SSD and am waiting for delivery in 10 days.
Currently, I have a 256 GB LiteOn SSD + 1 TB Seagate 5400 RPM HDD
The way I have them currently setup
C: (256 GB SSD) over provisioned by 30% here I have the OS installed, programs, and 2 games
D : (1 TB HDD): has my dropbox folder, docs, pics, music, videos, download folder
So what would you recommend now? keeping my SSD partitioned into 1 750 GB (after over provisioning) seems a bit too much right?
I really am confused on what is best, to split the first SSD into C and D and put my dropbox and other folders on it and leave the 2nd SSD empty to prolong its life? or put everything on the 2nd SSD?
also, I should OP both SSDs by 30% right?
I am gonna enable RAPID on the first one since I have 32 GB of RAM
I have a 60 inch smart tv samsung the sound is not as clear as i would like so i am thinking of a sound bar, but where to start i.e., the size .has it got to match the size of the tv has it got to be the same make as the tv ?
View 4 Replies View RelatedObviously there is no doubt that the n150+ or any Samsung note/netbook have had problems with not being able to control their devices brightness on Windows 7. This is because any driver after the OEM driver would change a particular number in the registry(regedit)
There were two fixes to this problem in WIndows 7. The simple way was to install the original VGA driver. The other was to change a specific number to 84 in the registries.
I have tried both and still can't adjust brightness with the fn keys. I've installed Easy Display Manager which is the software required to use fn key functions. Sound works automatically with or without the software.
I'm wondering why I can't get this to work.

When accessing the hard disk in windows installation i deleted all Partitions on HD. Inclusive those from factory.
When i try to install windows now , he''s asking for drivers and he will not continue without. I tried to download the sata hd drivers, wich he finds, but it still keeps screaming for drivers. Did i delete the wrong map? is it possible to recover this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a client's laptop which is a Samsung Model NP350V5C-A01us and I am trying to recovery the OS or more than likely do a clean install.
Customer reloaded BIOS to factory default prior to bringing it to me. Client even tried the recovery disk that came with the laptop.
This is what both the client and I are getting: see attached image.
All the options that show in the image when pressed leads back to the same Recovery screen.
I cannot get the DVD to boot from but the Disk is running. So not sure if the laser is of the DVD is not working.
I tried all the different ways to install samsung usb driver but I couldn't. I installed samsung kies but didn't recognize the phone as well. i removed it and tried to download the update from windows and I got this message:
Now my Galaxy SII won't be recognized in windows 8. What should i do?

My set up has 2 x 650 GB WD Black hard drives and a Samsung 840 (non pro) for the boot drive.
I have run the latest Samsung Magician, however the BIG problem is that it has stopped the windows 8 Defrag program.
I reinstalled Win 8 and all was OK, (now for the bit about me being thick -- ) I thought I would try the old version of Samsung Magician, and Bu**er me if has not only done the same thing again, turned off defrag and optimize, I am just unable to open defrag in order to defrag my WD drives.
I do not really want to reinstall Windows 8 again unless I have to, so how to switch defrag bag on again.
I have a Samsung Series 5 Ultra Touch. The other day, for reasons unknown, it would start up into the auto repair process. It would "diagnose PC" then "repairing", warning that might take a long time. Well after 24 hours I figured this was a dead end.
I have been through a crazy number of troubleshooting steps
--couldn't get into any F8 or Shift=F8 action
--Samsung's Restore mode crashed (F4)
--Made a recovery USB and figured out the magical BIOS steps that would actually allow me to use it after much trial and error)
The recovery process has yielded no joy.
--System Restore crashed
--Automatic Repair was never ending
--System Refresh said the drive was locked
So I started using DOS commands. Chkdsk seems to be taking forever to accomplish very little. See the screenshot:

I have a Samsung NP9000 model NP900X4C-A05AU. It regularly crashes due to full memory. It has 8G of RAM, running Windows 8.1. It's done this since day 1 - I managed to remove some Samsung bloatware that mitigated the problem somewhat, i.e. from once a day to three times a week. Mostly, just before it happens I get the "close some programs or lose some data" message, and I can possibly kill something (chrome usually) to free some memory so I can reboot cleanly. Usually at this point, the "Modified" section of the Task Manager Memory usage tab is quite big. Reboot and it's good for another couple of days.
Sometimes the "close some programs" message is too late... I get the message and almost immediately Windows crashes and reboots. Up until last week, this didn't cause any issues after the reboot. But last week, it did this, gave me the message and immediately crashed. It took about 1 hour for it to reboot, sitting at the "please wait" dots. I was in the process of making a recovery USB to boot from when it finally came to life. Everything seemed ok, was able to start things up, and carried on as usual. Couple of days later, get the "close some programs" message, and am able to reboot. But the laptop takes 5 to 10 minutes to reboot. Up until I had this issue, a reboot would take 5 to 10 seconds (to get to the login prompt). Even a reboot after just rebooting takes 5 to 10 minutes. I've run scans on my SSD, it says everything is ok. Every reboot now takes 5 to 10 minutes.
When i try to connect my samsung galaxy s3 to my pc via USB, it simply works the first time. But when i remove my s3 for like one hour (or more...) and i try to connect it again, Windows 8 wont recognize my s3. but then, when i restart my pc and i try to connect it again, it works...

-i5-3210M
-6 GB RAM @ 1600 MHz
-1 TB HDD @ 5400 rpm
-2 GB nVidia GT650M with Optimus
-Windows 8 Single Language 64-bit
It came with Recovery partitions. Now using the Samsung Recovery application I had copied my recovery files to another external HDD alongwith a backup of C drive. Now all these are in some weird extensions. I refreshed my PC and then the problems began. The problems were :
-No Fn key working
-Samsung recovery did not recognize factory condition recovery point,i.e,Factory reset option was gone.
-The backup on external HDD was showing up on Samsung Recovery, but after clicking on it, it would go on a restart and recovery never happens.
I'm using Samsung Ultrabook Np-530U4C-S01. Here is tech specs. (using Windows 8, not 7)

I've used multiple usb hook-ups so I know its not a bad cable. I've tried searching for the device/ adding it manually nothing will work. I've also tried using different USB ports, no luck.
