Nov 25, 2013I'm trying to uninstall Acronis Disk Director 11 Home but it will not uninstall.
I go to add/remove programs, select it in the list and click uninstall. That window comes up and says please wait while Windows configures etc. etc. then it just disappears and nothing happens. The program doesn't uninstall.
I've never had this problem with any other software before...what gives? How can I get Windows to uninstall it? Should I use something like this? [Solved]Acronis Disk Director 11 Home Build 11.0.2121 Completely Uninstalled or is that spyware/viruses/unnecessary?

Apr 27, 2014In windows 8.1, I installed the Lenovo Power Manager which is not yet available for this system, and I did it running it in compatibility mode, as described in the next link

and it got installed correctly, and seemed to work asking for a reboot that I did
The problem: I run into a BSOD and I believe it is due to this software (safe mode works ok)
So, as I try to unistall, and the uninstaller is called from "ADD or REMOVE PROGRAMS", all I get is again the message: "Warning : Cannot run on this system"
And of course, here there is not compatibility mode wizard .. How can I complete uninstall and clear this?
Missing Program Information / Details In Add / Remove Programs
Sep 15, 2013I recently used IOBit uninstaller to remove all traces of a program from the registry. I'm assuming it removed something that caused this issue, because after I used it all my program information in Add/Remove programs was missing. However, other users on my PC show all information in Add/Remove programs. Is there a way to repopulate this or would I have to create a new user?

Sep 15, 2014I wonder whether one or more of 13 recent Windows Updates has caused an issue. I can use System Restore to take my PC back to September 7th, three days before the Windows Updates were installed (there is just a Java update that has taken place since that I would have to carry out again). Alternatively, I can uninstall the Windows Updates one at a time or all together to see whether that rectifies the situation. Is there a preference? Should I uninstall from the highest KB number downwards if I uninstall the Updates one at a time?

Motherboard: Gigabyte P67A-D3-B3 (don't really know the rev on this one)
GPU: ATI Radeon 6770 HD 1 GB, original clocking on 850 mhz
Processor: Intel Core i5 2500 3,30 Ghz (No OC on this one)
RAM: Team Elite 8GB (2x4096MB) CL11 1600 Mhz
HDD: 500 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM SATA 6Gbit/s
Sometimes, not very often my windows 8 stutters and making every program that im running on the computer lag, it is 4 significant stutters that's driving me crazy, i just made a complete reformatting and a clean install of the operative system and it still occurs from time to time.
The operative system is "Windows 8 Pro x64" without Media Center.

Jan 28, 2013I've installed windows 8 on 64GB SSD disk, it shows 59GB available on "my computer", however only 8GB available. And I thought that was a bit much eaten up considering its close to a completely fresh install, so I went in to check around, when selecting properties on all folders, including hidden ones, and waiting for it to count up I find the sum of 21GB space taken. So that's 28GB that's missing, how can that be?

Dec 2, 2012I have switched on file history to an external drive and it seemed to be working however changes doesnt seem to be saved. As an example, if I click on restore personal files I get yesterdays date i.e. 1st December, but when I click on the Desktop icon it takes me back to the 17th November. My desktop has changed since the 17th November I have added some files to the desktop but they are not showing up in file history.
There is plenty of space on the backup drive and it is set to back-up every hour. Also it states on the main file history screen that files were last copied 17/11/2012 17:33 and this doesnt change even if I click run now?
Another example, I scanned some documents in a couple of days ago but they are not in the My Scans folder in the file history. If I click on restore I get yesterdays date 1st December (today is the 2nd December) and then if I click on the Documents Icon it takes me back to the 28th November and the My Scans folder doesnt have the latest documents in it?

Mar 21, 2014I recently installed a new ssd and did a fresh install of windows 8.1 on it. I am now using my old hdd as my main data drive in my laptop caddy. My problem is I did not back up my data on my hdd and format it. So I need to delete the "windows" , "program files" and "program files (x86) " folders from that hdd to free up some space.
I understand I have to give ownership to those folders for me to be able to do delete the folders. I have tired the methods suggested by this guide Take Ownership of a File, Folder, Drive, or Registry Key in Windows 8 I tried both of those commands
(To grant currently logged on user ownership of) takeown /F "full path of folder or drive" /R /D Y (To grant administrators group ownership of) takeown /F "full path of folder or drive" /A /R /D Y and it was succesful, however I still couldn't delete the folders.
Maintenance :: Can't Boot From CD (windows 8.1) Missing Logon Password
Dec 1, 2013Have a Gateway Desktop. Upgraded from 8 to 8.1.
Somehow I disabled the disabled Password Logon and its back asking for a password at boot.
Owner doesn't remember original password when setup.
I have a password blanking cd that I've used on both 8 and 8.1 pc's.
The problem is I can't boot from the CD and I can't, obviously, use that wonderful new setting, "Update", "Update and Recovery" and the option to boot with USB, CD etc. since I can't access the OS.
I have the BIOS set for the CD/DVD drive for first boot however boot options only show the "UEFI: ST....." drive.So I can't boot from within or without.
Maintenance :: Missing Or Corrupt Files - Detected SFC Output
Mar 2, 2014My windows update, windows defender and lots of other programs including Vistart start menu refuse to work. I run the Windowsupdatediagnostic download and it tells me the SFC Output is corrupted or missing. Recently the BITS wasn't working but for some reason found the windows events log was disabled in services. I went to black vipers site and reset all of the services to a standard or safe setting. Yet I cant get anything to work. Ive been running the sfc /scannow in command prompt and it says it found problems but was unable to fix them. It says to check the log files, but when i go to open them they refuse to open and say i don't have administration privileges???
I suddenly got BITS working recently and i swore that would have fixed everything but to no avail. I am afraid to have to to a factory refresh but the problem is I foolishly listened to microsoft suggestion in the store to upgrade this from windows 8 to 8.1 therefore it automatically deletes the windows 8.0 partition on the computer thereby erasing its original operating system with cd key....
I have heard of ones doing a factory reset or refresh and finding since that upgrade they cant get it running without them purchasing it....
I have done a system restore, but the last system restore was a month ago and unfortunately that was when the system was exactly the same as this.
So right now i need to try every possible avenue I can take and want to see if its possible to do a factory refresh without it freaking out because the cd key on the bottom of the computer is for a windows 8.0 and this is the useless upgraded 8.1. This is a Toshiba C55-A 5300 laptop

May 26, 2014I have tried to start up my PC recently and I get the message that my boot system has failed due to the fact it's missing the file "BCD".
I have contacted the microsoft company to report this issue, no support without my product code, or a disc/USB with the windows 8 system on it.
I have none of these and yet my issue still remains. My PC has worked perfectly the day before I shut it down. I'm trying very hard to restore my system but all I can find of the ways to restore it is by clicking control panel, etc...
I cannot access my laptop's desktop all I get is this error message and options to enter the setup utilities, firmware and boot options.
In all I'm asking for is, is there a way to restore my system from any of these options or is this another toss away laptop because windows 8 has failed to find this missing file?
I cannot get a replacement because I do not have the key with me that was used to install the operating system. This is all very frustrating and not to mention my job relies on this computer so it's putting everything to risk with my situation right now.

Oct 23, 2013The Troubleshoot icon that should be under the 'Advanced Startup' Option is missing. System is a new Dell Latitude 10 ST2 Tablet running Windows 8. Have access to 9 other identical tablets, all configured the same and they all have the Troubleshoot Option. Have tried multiple methods of getting to "Advanced Startup" display (including Safe mode, 'shutdown /r /o', etc.), but all result in only having the 'Continue', 'Use a Device', and 'Turn Off your PC' options - No Troubleshoot. Other than missing this icon, system is working fine. Shy of wiping the disk and starting over.

Uninstall Not Listing All Programs
Sep 15, 2014I buy a new computer, all now come with windows 8.
I do not like it at all, it is so dumbed down and so difficult to use; I wish I could return to windows 7.
I have however over the last few months installed many of my old programs from windows 7. This was straight forward. It was also easy to uninstall them using the control panel.
Then suddenly, in the control panel window for uninstalling, many of these programs are not listed. Yes they are still working well, like Microsoft word and excel, but they do not show in the uninstall window.
Could my anti virus AVAST have anything to do with it.

I have disabled it when I try to open it it says it is disabled. I really wouldn't care except several times a day my app will freeze. They always coincide with the windows defender error.
