Whenever I press the right click in order to see the menu it take 3-4 sec to loading, this is so annoying. there is a video i found on internet with same issue!

Acer Aspire M5 481T( all drivers are up-to date)
Im referring to this bottom menu; when I right click my app/programs, nothing pops up below. I also cant rearrange tiles, groups and stuff.

When I am in the file explorer and right click a folder or a file it takes a minimum of 16 seconds for the right click menu to appear. View 4 Replies View RelatedI pinned an application to my start menu, occasionally I need to run that app with Admin privs. All I can find in the Start Screen is the "Run As Admin" option that appears at the bottom of the screen.
It's a real pain to have to click the app near the top of the screen and then slide all of the way to the bottom for "run as admin"..aside from pinning it to taskbar in Desktop (whch is probably where it belongs anyway)?
I've been dabbling with Windows 8.1 a little bit, and noticed something missing from it--at least, it's missing on my computer. I'd like to know if I am the only person experiencing this.
The problem is quite simple: The right-click menu for the Explorer taskbar icon has disappeared, and it doesn't let me close my open Explorer windows.
I have desktop shortcut icons for the C drive, and two external drives. Also, I have a shortcut icon for my USB flash drive, which I usually keep plugged in for backup.
I can have several Explorer windows open by clicking these icons. They appear stacked in the taskbar. (See diagram below.) If I have only one Explorer window open, the menu will have a Close Window option. If two or more windows are open, it will say Close All Windows.
This menu, and these options, seem to have disappeared with Windows 8.1 Preview.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just updated my computer from Windows 8 to 8.1 (via Store), and my computer is working fine except for the right-click menu on the Desktop, that is taking forever to load.
First I thought it was some problematic shell extension (specially because Intel Graphics Control Panel was also updated, and the new version had icons along to the options). So I run ShellExView and disabled the mentioned extension, but the problem was still there after I restarted my computer.
Weird thing is that the problem only occurs when I click on a "empty" place on the Desktop, but clicking on icons on the desktop, or wherever else is OK. It's also weird that it occurs both when I'm on the Desktop or when I'm on File Explorer, accessing C:users*username*desktop (it's also weird that, when I'm using File Explorer, sometimes, some desktop icons, such as my shortcuts and folders, disappear).
I am adding some screenshots with the shell extensions found.
Is there a way to customize the Right-Click Start Menu Command in Windows 8.1 (like changing the "Command Prompt" to "Windows Update"...!
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo recently I was switching my desktop background repeatedly, trying out a few images because i wanted to change it. I had been using the right click menu on images, using the available option to 'set as desktop background'. Then, for no apparent reason that option dissapeared, along with the bolded 'open', 'edit', and 'print' options. not only that, but it seems to have slightly rearranged the menu as well as added a few new 'options' that do absolutely nothing when i try to use them.
Preview, rotate right, and rotate left do nothing whatsoever. Open would have opened it in an image viewer i downloaded and set to default, and edit would have opened it in Paint. Images aren't the only things affected. it seems to have happened to .txt files and video files, except the preview and rotate options don't appear.
I can still double click to open these files in their default programs, and use the newly bolded 'open with' drop-down menu to open image sin paint, but it would be nice to have my normal options back.
If I right click a file in windows 8.1 the cursor rotates and it can take a long time for the menu to appear.

Is it possible to right click a text document (or any file/document) saved on my laptop and have it sent to Onenote.
Onenote does not show when I right click a text document.
I have used Evernote before and I'm sure I could do this.
Perhaps it is possible but Onenote does it in a different way?
I want to use System Restore because every time I right click in file explorer or on my desktop, they crash (but I'm still able to run other programs normally). But when I try to start it, nothing happens. In the task manager, under background processes, it lists System Restore as many times as I've clicked on it! My anti-virus software isn't reacting to anything, though.
I really need to make a system image before I send my laptop in to get a hardware problem fixed, but I don't want to carry this over in the system image once the hardwares fixed...
Recently I've started having this problem where if I right-click anywhere in File Explorer, no matter what folder, my cursor switches to loading, then the folder goes to (Not Responding), and I have to close it out which causes Windows Explorer to disappear for a few seconds.

I had a problem with my laptop in that the disk use went to 100% and then the screen started blinking and I couldn't click on anything. After a reinstall of the OS it worked the same as new for about an hour but now the disk use climbs to 100% even when a new tab is opened and it stays at the max for a short time. The laptop becomes unresponsive during this time also.

I ran the upgrade to 8.1 but I still have a problem with my cursor wanting to "hover click" on links or browser tabs, as well as being stuck in the down position, when I'm not even pressing on the touchpad left button. I end up selecting an entire region of stuff while moving the cursor across the screen.
I can't figure out what to change or configure in Control Panel, or is it in the Dell Touchpad configuration utility?
In Control Panel/Ease of Access Center/Make Your Mouse Easier To Use I have unchecked "Activate a Window by hovering over it with a mouse." Still happens.
I run a program that requires the setting "Smooth Edges of Screen Fonts" to be un-checked in Win7 and XP. Using Win7, that selection is under Control Panel/System Security/System/Advanced System Settings/Performance Settings/Visual Effects. How do I access that setting in Windows 8?

However, the new context menu in the Start Screen simply does not appear anymore. It was earlier, and I have made no significant changes to the system in that time. I've recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 8.1 pre-installed. First question is how do i enable a confirm window to pop up when deleting something? I don't like how i can just hit delete and it moves it (Only to the recycle bin, but i'd rather it didn't).
Secondly how do i stop the start menu from switching to that Windows 8 menu view? I did originally change it so that when you click the start menu (Bottom left in) it would actually bring up the start menu, but it seems to have reverted. On top of this how do i change it so that pressing the Windows button brings up the start menu rather than the Windows 8 menu view thing?
Thirdly how do i enable file details when in Windows Explorer. So in Windows 7 when you select a file it would give the size, name, author, date last edited etc in the details pane. How do i get that now?
Finally, how do i change my task bars transparency?
When you launch skype from the startmenu it is a huge square, when i launch task manager from the startmenu it is launched to the desktop.
Could there be a way to make the task menu launch from the startmenu to be a big square like skype is "phone eddition"
This would be useful because when im in games and the game freezes, i can bring up the start menu like SUPER FAST and it is visible but when i launch the task manager it is behind the game no matter what, so im always pressing the key stroke of the first letter of the game and pressing delete to see if i closed the game or not.
I actually have no problem with the Win 8.1 Start menu, but the colors of the regular desktop environment are killing me. Namely, the weird, off-off white of the menus. The High-Contrast White option under Personalization gives me the right color for the menu backgrounds but everything else about the theme screams windows 3.1, so I'd rather not resort to using that.
Is there maybe a registry tweak that I can use to change this one little color? I've tried a few things but nothing so far has worked.

since getting windows 8.1, I find it does not have a right click print option. Others I have contacted say theirs does give right click print, is there a hidden menu somewhere to add options to the right click menu?
