View 1 Replies View RelatedWin8.1 - When I attempt to use a right click function (delete, rename, etc.) on a file, it is extremely slow (e.g. 3 minutes) to complete the action.
View 5 Replies View RelatedTonight I upgraded from Windows 7 to 8 and everything went fine. I noticed that the right click was very slow and found out that it was my display drivers that were at fault so I upgraded them also. I then had to reboot and thats where my problems started. Not when I startup everything seems to go okay and I think that it is starting fully but I have a blank screen. I attempted to enter safe mode but was unsuccessful F8, Shift F8 and a combination of both.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I single click it's actually doing a double click. It does this most of the time but not every click. Could my mouse be going bad?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new Dell Inspiron 15r as of this Christmas, running Windows 8. I ran the upgrade to 8.1 but I still have a problem with my cursor wanting to "hover click" on links or browser tabs, as well as being stuck in the down position, when I'm not even pressing on the touchpad left button. I end up selecting an entire region of stuff while moving the cursor across the screen.
I can't figure out what to change or configure in Control Panel, or is it in the Dell Touchpad configuration utility?
In Control Panel/Ease of Access Center/Make Your Mouse Easier To Use I have unchecked "Activate a Window by hovering over it with a mouse." Still happens.
I have just built a new computer and Installed Win8. The motherboard, processor, and system drive are all brand new Intel stuff; the media drive is a new Seagate. Programs get up and running just fine, but I have transferred my files over from my old xp machine, and Win Explorer is very slow to access them.
I'll open a folder, and more often than not the thumbs will not be there; I'll then try to open or preview a file and I'll get the green progress bar over the address bar. This will often take up to a minute or more to run, and if I leave it be then the icons will usually appear and the files will then be accessible. If I try to open or preview a file before it's done things lock up on me.
After navigating away from that folder and allowing some time to pass however, the thumbs dissapear again and I am back to square one. sometimes the thumbs will reappear all on their own. this seems to be an issue whether we're talking large files or small, or folders with 100's of files or as few as 8. The very same files are instantly accessible by the new comp from the original locations on my external USB drive and on my xp machine over the network. Once they are copied to the new machine is when things get bogged down. This seems to be the case both on the system drive and the media drive.
Furthermore, right from the very beginning, I've had icons disappearing and reappearing from my start menu apps page.
I have tried the following to resolve the problem:
- I have optimized the folders in question for both the types of media therein, and back to "General Items" again
- I have disabled indexing both on the drives themselves and in the libraries control panel
- I have run a full system virus scan with Bit Defender
- I have contacted Windows support and they have run a scan that showed Windows itself to be working properly
One thing that occures to me is the problem seems to be with the SATA drives and the SATA drives only, but if there's something wrong with the mother board wouldn't my programs have trouble opening too?
since getting windows 8.1, I find it does not have a right click print option. Others I have contacted say theirs does give right click print, is there a hidden menu somewhere to add options to the right click menu?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo i know windows 8 should have an icon that should replace the place that kind of like square bracket in this photo.
View 1 Replies View Relatedtoday I've noticed that I can't left click on my mousepad (but USB mice work) while pressing any key on the keyboard. This applies everywhere, desktop, apps, games, whatever.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I have limited experience in computers. I recently had to download some images for a class and after I did so I noticed that I could no longer right click on any icons or folders without my mouse pointer turning into an hour glass, then my screen going black and restarting.
I've done virus and mal-ware scans and everything came back in the clear. I'm running windows 8 or 8.1 also.
Any way to turn off and on my monitor with just click? I know how to turn off with click but in seconds Monitor will on automatically.. I think its because mouse movement. Thats why I wanna know how to TURN ON MONITOR WITH CLICK.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with the right click menu opening. When I am in the file explorer and right click a folder or a file it takes a minimum of 16 seconds for the right click menu to appear. As you can imagine this makes the simplest of actions very drawn out. How to sort this out?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I search everywhere for example device manager, the icon shows up on the sidebar but when i click it nothing happens even if i hold it. It is random too some things work like cmd, word, pc settings and things like change screen settings or something that deals with directly changing a setting without actually going to the control panel or pc settings first doesn't click.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I press the right click in order to see the menu it take 3-4 sec to loading, this is so annoying. there is a video i found on internet with same issue!
I am using Windows 8 pro with media center ( up-to date)
Acer Aspire M5 481T( all drivers are up-to date)
I was trying to configure the WiFi on this laptop when I 'discover' this. You cant configure the network by doing a right click over the net I want to configure. This means that I cant change the password of this WiFi connection and so on.
Im not sure whats wrong. It was installed from this MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.8.1.PROFESSIONAL.RTM.X64.VOLUME. WITH.ROLLUP-1.ENGLISH.DVD-WZT and nothing more.
When I click the photo image is not displayed While the small mode is displayed. Why?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my windows 8.1.
I usually able to use Right click and I can put my Application to my start screen but today I unable to do that and I don't know why ?
I right on my app but nothing happen . only check mark appear
I upgraded from Win 8 Pro with Media Center to 8.1 Pro with Media Center. Upgrade went smooth (but what's with going completely thru the install BEFORE asking if you accept the new license?)
But now it takes 15 seconds to open the right click menu on the desktop as opposed to probably less than 1/10 of a second before. All other right clicks seem normal. No significant CPU usage during the wait.
If it matters, I'm pretty damn vanilla but I do have Start8 and ModernMix.
Also if its significant, Catalyst Control Panel won't start (I'll reinstall the latest but it was current less than a week ago).
Also my secondary monitor is set to the correct resolution (1920x1080) but its shrunk with a more than half inch black border around it. I'm hoping the Catalyst/driver reinstall fixes this too.
In 8.1 if I right-click the start-button to get up the new "simplified gray start menu" there are options like "Programs and Features", "Device Manager", "Command Prompt" etc. When I click on these they no longer launch, nothing happens.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows 8 is new and I previously used windows vista. I downloaded my games to an external drive. When I use external drive I display all games on the drive. I would like to drag 1 game to the desktop to be able to play at leisure. When I click and drag to desktop it copies the game, then when I want to drag game back to external drive it tries to copy again...I would like to pull off external to desktop, then put it back on external when complete. Is it possible ?? Do I have to copy game to desktop ??
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have win 8.1 x64 Core installed. The thing is, i want to remove some items from my start screen and right clicking does not bring up any menu (which it used to on my previous win 8.1, this is new installation).
WEe, I deleted some files which were actually looking like shortcuts (had arrow below icons, like shortcuts) in C:Users (and directories in it), thinking that these shortcuts are just useless. And I think this somehow caused the problem. now I want to remove a few thing from my start screen and no option is appearing. Is there any way to manually remove them?
Same thing happens in the "detailed" start screen, the checkmark appears, but no menu to do anything.
Is it possible to customize what is shown on the Start Button right click menu for Windows 8.1? I would like to take certain items away from that list, and add others of my choosing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to use System Restore because every time I right click in file explorer or on my desktop, they crash (but I'm still able to run other programs normally). But when I try to start it, nothing happens. In the task manager, under background processes, it lists System Restore as many times as I've clicked on it! My anti-virus software isn't reacting to anything, though.
I really need to make a system image before I send my laptop in to get a hardware problem fixed, but I don't want to carry this over in the system image once the hardwares fixed...
The only thing that annoys me is that when you move your mouse in the bottom right corner you can't click the Show Desktop button.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI see there is no right click scan for virus with windows defender on windows 8. How to add that functionality?
I found a site that shows how to add it via regedit, but I couldn't get it working on my machine.
Windows 8 but none of them relate to my specific problem. When I click on apps they do not initialize. it is not all apps either. the store does not work and i am unable to access anything from the store (including updating to 8.1).
I think it may have something to do with AVG. It was very difficult to uninstall AVG and there are still two dll files that will not uninstall. (avgsea & avgsysa). I think it screwed up the registry somehow. Windows firewall does not seem to work either. i am unable to get into Win firewall and reset to recommended settings.
I am using a Wacom Cintiq Companion and just upgraded to Windows 8.1. After the upgrade my right-click stopped working and when I try to right-click it freezes my left click so I have to restart.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I right click on any tile shortcut etc, I have no options for pin unpin runas uninstall whatever. Just a check mark. I'm almost certain it is a registry problem. I just do not know where to look. I had a problem with the metro file explorer not working and fixed it with a reg file for homegroup. However did not fix this problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to do a search and it would stay up as I checked each document to see if that was what I was looking for. Now when I do a search and click a document that comes up, the search disappears and I have to start all over again each time. This is frustrating because I often go looking through my collection of music notation files and have many to go through.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMouse click to invoke Metro UI If you have a mouse with programmable buttons: The Windows Key is 'ctrl-esc' I have a Logitech mouse with programmable buttons. In the Logitech button settings you can program any button to go to the Metro UI:
1.) Go to your mouse settings;
2.) Choose a button;
3.) Select 'Keystroke Assignment;
4.) in the resulting 'Specify Keystroke' - Keystroke window:
5.) Simultaneously press Ctrl and Esc.
6.) Note: In the Logitech example, you cannot use your keyboard key-by-key to enter ctrl+esc. You must simultaneously press the control and escape key in the above window. [Hold down ctrl and esc] Worked for me.
Explanation:Windows 8 dumped me into the old W7 desktop when I exited an application -- even if I started the application in Metro UI. Then I had to go back to keyboard to press Windows key. Now I have a mouse button to get me back to Metro UI. Editorial comment - DWJ: I think Windows 8 should default to the Metro UI upon exit from any application. After many months of objecting to Windows 8, I now like it -- but I do not like the extra key press on the Windows Key [on the keyboard] to get me back to Metro UI -- where I started. If Microsoft wants me to use the Metro UI, then Microsoft should dump me into the Metro UI whenever I exit any app.
