I am using Windows 8. Everything goes smooth. The only issue is when my laptop is connected to AC Supply, it does not charges. As far as I remove AC supply, laptop dies out.
I have tried disabling Battery driver from device management, with no luck!
How to stop the battery charging when it is plugged in On my Dell XPS Laptop. Previously in Windows 7 It was easy to to switch between charging when plugged in or not but now with windows 8 I cannot find it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedToday I was shutting down my computer because I received the issue of 'plugged in, not charging...' once again. When it was shutting off everything shut down but the power was still on (the blue light on my laptop keyboard was on, it's off when the laptop is off).
I then decided to force-shut down my laptop by holding down the power button. After doing that I tried to turn it back and it refused to go past this screen:

After waiting for a while and returning from a shower it then went to a black screen which only showed my mouse icon. I installed windows 8 about 6 months ago from the official website for a fee; I didn't use a boot disk.
I just did a clean install of Windows 8 Pro on my 3 years old Asus Laptop.
Everything seems to be working fine, except for the battery indicator and some Asus Fn keys..
The battery cannot be charged, it keeps showing 0% charging even after a few hours.
I tried disabling and re-enabling the Microsoft ACPI-compliant battery driver, but to no avail.
My TV tuner gets full signal when working with the battery while it gets null signal when plugged in to the AC socket whenever the battery is in. The matter is related I think to the battery saving profile. I have an ASUS K75V with i7 - 36300QM, 2.4GHz. OS Windows 8. I tried to set the setting of the active profile equal for "on battery" and "plugged in", copying the settings of the first to the second naturally. It still doesn't work. It seems that is not configurable.

I bought a new laptop with Windows 8, and I was told at the shop to charge it at least 6 hours before the first boot.
Is it really necessary? And if yes, why?
I am running windows 8 pro wmc on my HP laptop. One month ago I have bought a new battery. From last one week, when I start my laptop it shows that "plugged it, not charging". When I shut down down, it started charging the battery. After a full charge, my laptop performs good and battery worked for almost more than 2 hours.

This wasn't a big deal a couple months ago because I was on summer vacation, but now that school is in session, I will lose my notes and homework without much chance to revive. I have tried adjusting the warning levels in the advanced power settings, but that did nothing.

But since the time i have installed windows 8,it gives a backup of hardly an hour. I have checked all the settings in the control panel. They are all fine and proper. OK so Windows used to warn me my battery is low when it is at 10%. However, it no longer does, so it will now shut down without warning me to plug in my charger. Why is it doing this, and what can I do to make it warn me again? It is so ridiculous that I have to restart the computer just because the battery died and I wasn't warned by the system.

So I changed the CMOS battery to what I assumed to be an identical battery, and Windows was unable to start and said I had to system restore. So I took out the old battery and put the new one in and the same thing happened. When it prompts me to restore and I click on it, I just get the black screen with the blue windows icon, minus the loading icon. What should I do?

my computer needs more power for a task I'm performing while I'm not plugged in. Will it be able to push itself to it's capabilities, or would it stay restricted? How about when it's plugged in?
If I would rather have "High Performance" settings when I'm plugged in, and "Balanced" when I'm not, is there a way to do that? It's clear that Power Plans work even while being plugged in, but I see no need to limit the PC while you aren't on battery.

what I want to know is if I close the lid like I normally do at the end of my day, can I charge my device and not say..wake the computer from what is essentially a hybrid shutdown type sleep mode?
When I connect my DualShock 3 controller to my Windows 8.1 laptop it does not charge. I hear a beep, as in something was connected to the PC, then it seems to charge for a couple of seconds (lights flash on the controller) and then it stops. I am able to charge my phone and tablet so, it's just the DS3. It works fine on my Windows 7 computer, so it's not the controller.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a software on my notebook called Lenovo Energy Management, and there's 2 battery mode available, the one is "Maximum Battery Life" and the other is "Optimized Battery Health" so I choose "Optimized Battery Health" mode, and leaving my notebook while it is charging for about 5 hours.
When I am go back home, I saw that my battery is stay on 60% and it say "Plugged in, not charging". It won't charge the battery higher than 60%, so I guess the battery is limited to 60% from it's full capacity. The question is, is it safe for the battery if I leave the notebook while it is charging for more than 5 hours even the battery capacity is limited?

While I was testing out the new racing game Assetto Corsa on my computer, I had not noticed that even though my battery was plugged in, it wasn't charging. Then my computer switched off. I reconnected the adapter but then the blue led on the charger went off.
When I take out the adapter, it glows blue, indicating that the charger is ready to charge.
When I plug it in to my laptop, it stops illuminating.
Don't think my OS was backed up since I was using the Home Premium version, but any recovery of files data and/or GNU licensed programs will be extremely useful.
My camper van was broken into and the OEM support disks are gone as well. Used the standard MS back up procedure on an external usb disk drive. The latter is back home, which I could FedEx to where I'm staying for the winter.
I was wondering if it was possible to get the old, unobtrusive low battery notification from Windows 7 on Windows 8? As it stands, whenever I hit 10% battery, this huge bar pops up right in the middle of my screen and minimizes anything I might be working on. This is fine in most cases, except for when I'm gaming and end up running off a cliff while trying to get the game window back up. -_- Is it possible to just have a little popup appear above the taskbar when my battery gets low, like in Windows 7? I'm really trying to like Windows 8, but stuff like this is unacceptable.

But on the native 8.1 Start (the one with the metro tiles) screen I see no way to easily check remaining battery power. I searched the Windows Store for an app that would do this and there are none that I can find. Odd because the Android Play Store has dozens of apps that do this. tell me if there is an easy way to check battery power from the Start screen?

I have tried going into the notifications area and changing the behaviour of it but that doesn't work either. This is what shows up.
During the Christmas season i received a shiny new SSD for my Dell 1121 laptop. I went about installing the drive following one of the many install articles on the interwebs that shows several optimization tips for SSDs. After doing so i noticed the expected increase in performance. Mostly the startup times of the OS and of most apps.
Only problem i have now is that my battery tends to die rather rapid while the system sleeps. Prior to the SSD it would seem i could leave the system on standby for a week or better with no issue. Now i am lucky if the system stays alive for a day on standby. Something that may have changed during the install or a SSD optimization thing that could have screwed with my battery life on standby?
I have a Acer Aspire E1 570 laptop that I use for college, the laptop is less then 8 months old. For some reason recently it starting going dead at 40% battery charge remaining. I ran a powercfg -energy from the command prompt and it said that my batterys designed charge is 37000 and last full charge untill the battery read it was fully charged is 36526. I use the laptop on the battery all the time while i'm at school. I was thinking maybe just refresh the PC from the recovery i made using the provided software with the computer. I'm unsure if that would correct the issue.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my OS from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, and everything seemed to run normally. I have to connect to the internet via ethernet cable, which isn't a problem at all. However, whenever I plug in the battery charger, the ethernet connection stops working, but I can still connect via Wifi adapter.
I can't use wifi most of the time, so this does bother me a lot.
I have an Acer Aspire 5750G-2414G64MNKK and after the installation of Windows 8 I have a problem with the battery. In fact, when I turn on the PC, the battery indicator is not showing... I have to refresh devices in Device Manager. It happens randomly and it's very annoying. I have also tried to search an updated driver of the battery but windows update says that it is updated.

As a student I had quite a lot of trouble with my previous laptop's battery. It had an autonomy of 4h in the beginning, but one day, while it still had 50%, it suddenly dropped to zero for some reason, and after that incident the battery has never exceeded 50% charge again. So I had to buy another one, but this one also dropped to 2h autonomy after some months, although it still showed 100% charge.
I now have a new laptop, an Asus T300LA, that I chose for its 8h autonomy. As I really wanted to take care of the battery, I searched on the internet how to deal with a li-ion, and learned that I had to drop the charge from 100% to 5% at first use, but should never let it go below 5% as it would permanently lose 20% of its capacity at once.But during the process I was too scared that the charge level shown by Windows would be false and while it would indicate 5% it would actually be less, so I plugged the laptop at 8%; and I was indeed right, as the battery level suddenly switched to 5% when I did so !
Basically I am fearing the infamous 20% battery damage occured without my knowing since the battery level indicated by Windows can't be trusted. The problem is, I don't know how to check it; with my previous laptop (Windows 7), on one battery the damage wasn't shown and it would still indicate 100% charge when filled, whereas on the other one the damage was clearly noticeable as the battery level would never indicate more than 50% even when filled up.
How can I verify if my battery is pristine or not ? If it indeed lost 20% of its capacity, should Windows 8 indicate a completely filled charge as 100% or 80% ?
Also, with maximum screen brightness Windows tells me this: "your current brightness setting might reduce battery life". What does it mean by "battery life" ? The current charge length or the whole time I can use the battery before it's good for junk ?
I have an Acer Aspire V5-472P laptop. My problem is that the battery indicator on the taskbar is malfunction. It stays "100%" at least until 2-3 hours and now the battery life ends at around 50%. Before this, it was around 20% then 30% then 40% and now 50%! It just keeps on increasing and I don't know what the problem is! I have changed the advance power settings. There should be a warning for low battery but there's none! I feel like the battery life is getting lower too. Is there something wrong with my battery power apps or something? Or is it a BIOS problem? Or something else?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 8 (first time 8 user). I am loving the computer so far and don't mind Windows 8. It is not nearly as bad as people have told me, just takes getting used to.
However, I have had a problem when I put my computer to sleep. The screen shuts off and the power button blinks slowly like a slept computer would. However, the computer continues to feel as warm as it does when it is on and running. I also had it unplugged overnight after I put it to sleep, and in the morning, the battery had died, which shouldn't happen when it is asleep. I am far from an expert but I figure that while the computer goes to sleep, some program may still be running to keep using all that power.
How can I fix this problem because I need to transport my laptop around, but don't want to put it in an enclosed case if it stays warm while asleep?
I have an Asus x202e with I3, Windows 8 64 Bits. The defect is that the battery does not detect. Here's what I did: I disconnected the battery, I pressed the power button 30 seconds and not fixed. I reset BIOS F2, F9 and F10 and again not repaired. I uninstalled the Microsoft ACPI method battery and nothing. Do you think that a BIOS update will fix the fault? Mention that no longer turn on the battery.
