Whenever I insert any Cd or DVD to my drive i get "Please enter a disc to H:/" ... I also tried Microsoft Troubleshooter but it didn't worked. My computer not even detect my CD.

"unable to detect supported product"
and of course that's as far as you get.
To resolve this issue:
1. Uninstall the current drivers.
2. Shutdown and power off. Physically remove the audio card.
3. VERY IMPORTANT STEP: Boot at least once with the audio card removed.
4. Shutdown and power off. Re-install audio card.
5. Bootup. Re-install drivers.
I have a Dell Inspiron 3521 with a DVD RW drive listed as "HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GU70N" and I use Ashampoo Burning Studio 14. When I tried to burn a Video DVD after DVD authoring I get a warning saying "The inserted CD/DVD could not be detected". I tried other software too. They don't seem to detect the DVD too.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo recently my windows 7's some system files got corrupt . won't start after windows logo (when the arrow shows up=>always bsod, even in safemode). so I decided to format C and install fresh windows 8.
Then I had four partitions C:windows(7) D:Softwares E:Games F:Mix Stuff.
My plan was to format C (of course for windows 8) and D (as C had only 20Gb space so I thought I would also format D 46Gb and give C 45Gb and D 20-21Gb as it was useless to me and contained only a bunch of crappy softwares ). Well, it FAILED here's how. after formatting C and D I deleted them thinking that boths unallocated space will merge. but it DID'NT.
After deleting I tried creating new partition on D but it FAILED "we cannot create create new partition" . Then I did same thing with C and it WORKED. I had to give it again 20Gb (maximum) - NO CHOICE. Then I installed Windows 8 on C. (thinking I will later format D on desktop)
Now here's the scenario : I DO NOT WANT TO FORMAT E: AND F: AS IT CONTAINS MY PRECIOUS DATA. After the startup config, 'Startup' came up I went to Desktop then Computer and then what????
WHERE THE HELL ARE OTHER PARTITIONS????????
Only C: I found there 7.67Gb free of 19.5GB.
Where are others gone .
I went to disk management and saw only (C:) other 138Gb (something) was unallocated space. Then I booted my pc from windows installation usb and on the drive screen I saw C 19.5-20Gb and Unallocated space 138Gb.
Everything was ok with sound but now the computer doesn't detect any sound devices like amplifier, headphones, speakers, etc. The computer does find the audio card, but not devices.
View 8 Replies View RelatedEver since the latest WP update (currently on WP8.1 Update, firmware 3051.50009.1424.0003) my Windows 8.1 PC doesn't detect my Lumia. I get "The latest device malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it. There is also Unknown USB device (Device descriptor request failed) listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers in Device manager. Nothing under Portable devices section.
What I have tried:
- replacing usb cable (using original one) -> no luck
- soft reset phone -> no luck
- turning the phone off and plug it in -> no go
- manually uninstalling the device from device manager, restarting the PC and try again -> nope
- plugged brother's lumia 930 -> works like a charm
I've got access to laptop, plugging my phone there and the same problem happens at first - the device can't be recognized but a few moments later somehow it gets recognized and connected. The problem seems to be on my PC, need to completely removing all the Phone drivers (including registry entries) so I can install them fresh?
I've recently encrypted my main drive, and all is well. However, I would like to be able to encrypt one of my data drives as well and bitlocker isn't even detecting the drive's existence under "Fixed Drives"
I'm on windows 8.1 machine, the encrypted main drive is a SSD drive, and the data drive is a regular WD spinning drive SATA drive. I would like to have the WD data drive encrypted as well...
I am using Windows 8.1x64 in UEFI mode. My motherboard is Gigabyte H77M-D3H. My hard disk is configured to use AHCI. A few days back I needed to use system restore from my repair disk because of a system crash. To my horror when I selected System Restore from my Windows repair disk it showed-:
"To use System Restore, you must specify which Windows Installation to restore. Restart this computer select an operating system, and then select system restore."
Now I don't have multiple Windows installations but I do have Debian Linux x64 dual booted with Windows 8.1. the Debian Linux also boots in UEFI mode. Is this problem caused by the fact that I am dual booting ? Has Linux dual booted, check if you can system restore from the windows repair disk.
I can perform a system restore from the inside of the OS fine. But I need it working from the outside also. What I have tried is running diskpart from the repair disk and selecting my partition on which Windows is installed and then running system restore but this had no effect. Can I boot up windows and then select to boot from my CD ? Like, before Windows completes booting I can have the repair disk boot up or something. Could it be that I am booting my CD in legacy rather than UEFI ?
PS-: My Windows 8 was upgraded from an installation of Windows 7. But I have already deleted the Windows.old folder in C drive.
For some reason Windows allows me to install Hotfixes that date back to August and even July! I know I installed those Hotfixes for a fact, but some recent updates reset all that. How to get the latest versions of everything at this point?

Steps I have taken: Troubleshooted connection, and received the following error: windows could not automatically detect network's proxy settings. Ran "network troubleshooter" and I think it reset the connection and said all was fine.
So I'm trying to run dual OS on my new windows 8 machine. I made a bootable Ubuntu 14.04 usb stick using Rufus, disabled secure boot and proceeded in attempting to install the system. However, (settings->general->advanced startup->use a device) won't detect my bootable USB. It won't boot from it at startup either, no matter how much I fiddle with the UEFI settings.
Well, I guess that is not entirely true, as I managed to get it to boot and install ubuntu after switching the UEFI boot settings to legacy boot. But windows 8 does not work under that option, so I'm having to go and change the UEFI boot setting every time I wish to use a different OS.
At random, Windows would refuse to shut down, although it would cancel out the display. Hitting the power button it would bring the PC back to life in a state half in shutdown and half alive. Upon restart, Windows will refuse to detect my LAN driver. It wouldn't even show up on the device manager (not even as an unknown device).
I have Gigabyte G1 Assassin motherboard with BigFoot Network LAN card. To make the LAN work again, I have to delete the Big Killer Network software from my PC and re-install it again. But after two days, Windows will do the same thing all over again.

Here's the scenario...PC crashed, I get Toshiba splash screen at start up then nothing. With recovery stick I can get tools but cannot use them... I get either missing partition or hard drive locked message. I can get to command prompt though where it appears that the partition containing Windows is not being recognized at all...the size of the partition is not even showing up. This all started when I returned to my PC to find it unresponsive and had to power it off with the power button. PC was working fine for months after upgrading from Windows 7.

Having read much about the decision by Microsoft to withdraw support for dvd playback I have now installed both Windows Media Centre (via the free download/product key) and VLC player. However neither of these programmes will play nor recognise a dvd in the drive. Windows Media Centre reports

I have tried many dvds, all of which have been played by this system when Vista was the running OS. The dvd drive is recognised in Computer as "BD-RE Drive (G" and this moniker does not change when a dvd is inserted. Autoplay options never appear. When a cd is inserted to the drive the name of the dvd drive remains the same but "audio cd" appears after and the cd plays fine. In device manager the dvd drive appears as a

I got an imation Apollo m100 hard drive and working properly on other laptops/ desktops except on my own laptop. It is not detected or recognized by my 2 usb slot on the left sight of my laptop but it can be detected by the slot in my usb slot on the right side which is the right side.. tried inserting usb drives on the 2 left usb slot and its working properly except of hard drive.

My PC is unable to detect 5Ghz band where rest of the devices at my home are detecting both the bands.
I have recently bought D-Link dual band router and installed at home. Router is working absolutely fine because I could see my other laptop and Ipad are able to detect both the bands. So that says there no problem with the router configuration. Also the router which I have bought is recently released, so there are no new updates are released yet.
As per the installation guide, 802.11a supports 5Ghz and IEEE 802 11b/g/n supports 2.4 Ghz.

Network Adaptor drivers: BCM43142 Wireless Network Adapter

The network adaptor which my laptop supports IEEE 802 11b/g/n..i.e.2.4 Ghz. I tried installing the Network Adapter drivers in compatibility mode, but that doesn't fix the issue.
When I checked in Command prompt, it says : Radio Types Supported : 802.11n 802.11g 802.11b.
How should I upgarde network drivers to : 802.11n 802.11a 802.11g 802.11b
I re-installed Windows 8 yesterday evening (thought it would be quicker than to cleanup and fix my old install) and then directly upgraded it to Windows 8.1. The problem I am experiencing is quite weird: The Operating System doesn't detect the network cable.
With that being said, do not jump straight to the "Did you turn it on and off again" questions. Here is what I have done so far:

My Acer V5-571G has an awesome trackpad, but acer only provides Elantech drivers, which aren't as great.

So my queries is that i have recently installed windows 8.1 and i wanted these original files to be installed but dont know which one to pick from vista drivers or windows 7 drivers? but windows 7 drivers are latest when compare with vista. Or should I download nvidia drivers from nvidia website? and also same goes with realtek audio driver from realtek website?
I just upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows 7, and I cannot get a wireless connection. I have a Linksys Wireless G Card v4.1, and I've attempted to use multiple different drivers, but none of them work. At one point I was able to get a "Network Controller" to show up, but after rebooting my computer, it went away (and I was unable to get it again). Is it possible to get an internet connection with my card and Windows 8.1? Or will I have to stick with Windows 7?

I'm running a custom build PC on which I clean installed a (legal) copy of Windows 8.1
My system works fine except it can not install drivers for ANYTHING non-standard. Keyboard, mouse, memory sticks, HDDs all work fine, however when I plug in my phone/tablet/camera etc via USB, it fails to install drivers and I can't use my device.

I needed to ask as i've come from XP, when i installed 8.1 it installed drivers for my mobo so i had sound/net etc... and for my gpu aswell. Should i install the drivers from the manufacturer? Such as the realtek audio/lan/etc... and also my amd gpu?
If i were to install the Gpu driver would i just download it and install it with microsofts one there? And with the motherboard? Should i leave them there as i have sound/net etc... (haven't tried gaming yet)

I own a XPS L702X laptop purchased in 2011. Laptop has driver support from Dell for Win 7 and Win 8. But windows 8 drivers aren't working with windows 8.1 and i don't think Dell is in the mood to provide drivers for a laptop which is already 2+ years old.
So i had to collect drivers by myself. I have already got most of the native drivers from Intel/nVidia/Realtek websites.But not able to find the Quickset software. Currently using the one which was released for windows 8, and it gives error when i open the windows mobility center. And after installing, it doesn't remove the "Unknown Device" icon from device manager like it used to do in windows 8 .
Also need "ST Micro Screen Detection Sensor" driver. If i install the old windows 8 driver, it says incompatible with this version of windows.
