I 've removed the battery on the motherboard and it worked well . , But again there was the same error.
F 1 and F 2 keys do not work.
So I recently got my brand new Alienware X51 with Win8 pre-installed. Everything went well and I have had no issues until our apartment got a black-out and my PC decided to die. When the power was back on, I tried turning it on, but instead got an error message. Here as follows:

Also I need to mention that I did NOT get any Recovery CD/DVD with the pc itself. What should I do??
So lately the system time on my computer wasn't telling the right time, and every time I changed it, it would just change back. So I changed the CMOS battery to what I assumed to be an identical battery, and Windows was unable to start and said I had to system restore. So I took out the old battery and put the new one in and the same thing happened. When it prompts me to restore and I click on it, I just get the black screen with the blue windows icon, minus the loading icon. What should I do?

I have tried with 1 ram stick and yesterday I ran memtest86 about 16h with no errors so its not ram.
I tried GPU on different slot.
Removed all devices from PC.
Checked that all connections are firmly attached.
Is there possibility that CPU would be dead because I ran prime95
and almost in 1 min I got bsod and I have getting these bsods for almost month (Bsod 0x8000000000000002 on idle)
I made some changes in ClearType using "adjust ClearType text" option, but I would like back do defaults. How can I do this? I searched in web, but all "tutorials" are about Windows 7 with a screen less.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a Windows 8 laptop, ASUS Q500A, and reformatted it with Windows 7.
I went into the BIOS and used "Restore Defaults" and now all Boot Option Priorities are deleted.
Each time I boot the laptop, it automatically goes to BIOS (or UEFI).
I tried inserting the Windows 7 disc so I can access Startup Repair or Command Prompt but it freezes before it could get anywhere even when I tried it with an external CD/DVD drive.
I cannot get the laptop to boot to the hard drive or CD drive at all,
how I can reset the boot option priorities so it will be boot to the hard drive again.
The computer turn off the wireless connections and defaults into airplane mode. I had this problem with Windows 8. The option to easily toggle airplane mode on and off become grayed out unchangeable. The only way I found to temporarily fix the problem was to rightclick the airplane icon and then troubleshoot the wireless connections which would then turn wireless back on. I had the option to upgrade to 8.1 and I did and it fixed the problem for a while. It did happen again which is why I'm back on the web searching for possible more permanent solution for this. Luckily it only happened once a week ago and hasn't happened again. I was wondering if this bug was known about and if you possibly know of a way to fix.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOk so basically it will show the splash screen then go back to the start screen all other apps say this app cannot be loaded go to the windows store (I have removed them). Things I have tried:
1). I tried running WSReset.exe but I got the "Windows cannot find 'm-windows-storeurgecaches'. Make sure you've typed the name correctly, then try again.
2) I cleaned the DNS, RAM, Search, Internet Caches.
3) I tried the Disk Cleanup
4) I tried a registry cleaner.
5) I created a second local user and the store loads!
6) I have the correct Date & Time Set.
7) I don't think that my Norton is blocking it.
8) I have the highest screen resolution set and size set to (Small 100%)
9)I have tried some registry and user policy changes that I cant remember to no avail.
10) I have used the app troubleshooter from Microsoft.
I want to avoid having to do a refresh as I had to do one recently and it is annoying when it removes all of the desktop applications, is there a way to re install windows without losing the applications. I am using Windows 8 Pro,
Maybe it's just my Gateway computer or I messed it up somehow or it is Chrome or Norton, I don't know.
A lot of times when a page loads it is unusable.
Can't click on things or scroll it up or down.
Until I right click an empty space on it & click on Inspect element.

I don't know what I did but suddenly video thumbnails disappeared, so I reinstalled K-Lite Codec Pack MEGA version. I'm using a laptop with Windows 8.1 x64. VLC is the default media player. I've installed MPC-HC and K-Lite Codec Pack MEGA. Everything is up to date.
Once I reinstalled K-Lite MEGA pack, thumbnails appeared again, but now something's wrong. When I open the "Videos" folder, VLC icons don't appear. All icons are blank (there's no icon, just blank space with the file's name below) until the thumbnail is loaded.
Before, ALL icons appeared (VLC icon) and then the thumbnails got loaded. If I refreshed, the thumbnails didn't start to load again, the window blinked for 1 millisecond and then everything was already loaded.
Now, if I refresh, it starts all over again, all icons are blank and the thumbnails start to load again. I've reinstalled MPC-HC, K-Lite MEGA pack, Disk cleanup thumbnails, show only icons, apply and then uncheck that option... Nothing changes
I don't understand anything. Here's a screenshot in the middle of the process:
There should be VLC icons instead of those blank spaces, and it shouldn't start to load everything each time I refresh.
The setting of Windows Update is as such that they aren't loaded automatically.
Of course want i to see if there are new updates available ...
In W7 is it possible to receive a sign on the taskbar ...

Whenever I make a new user account I get:
"The Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded."
I've tried going into regedit and altering the user account, however there is not an S-1-5 entry associated with it. This happens every time I create a new user. My admin and other user account work fine.
Sometimes when I start up my PC, my internet won't work because the wrong driver is being loaded.

Since upgrading to Windows 8.1, something weird has been happening. Each time I plug in a USB2 device into the USB3 port on my Asus T100 tablet/laptop (Atom processor, 2Gb RAM and 32Gb SSD), it fails to recognise the device and then throws an Error 43 and complains that the device did not provide a suitable descriptor.
Initially I thought it was a Hardware issue. USB3 devices in the same USB port worked correctly, so I figured it might be bent contacts. However, adding a USB3 hub with USB3 devices chained from it worked, but USB2 still did not work. I therefore suspect a configuration or driver issue, but I cannot figure out how to fix it. I have tried ever "re-install" style reset of Windows. It doesn't have any restore points to reset to....
So I have a WD external HD with all of my research data as well as some text books and other important things on there and for some reason I got an I/O error and after that the drive does not show on the computer anymore. The computer recognizes that there is a drive there and will read that it is a WD passport but cannot tell the size of the disk and will not register it as an external drive whose media I can explore and work with. What is wrong and how can I retrieve the data?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am beyond the veil of anger with this. I believe something is wrong with my DirectX 11 on Windows 8.1. I would go to play certain games, and it would pop up an error message saying "Cannot Set Display Mode" or something similar to that. I get the feeling it's DirectX, as I had recently updated it, but did nothing to interfere. I have spent the last week (literally) trying to fix this, and everything has failed. I understand that DirectX 11 comes with Windows 8 and everything, but when Windows doesn't even realize that it's malfunctioning (DXDiag did not work, nor did the thousands of Runtime Installers I tried), something is definitely wrong.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I search for updates with windows update it finds the drivers I want but it gives me an error message whenever I try to install them.
I already tried downloading the latest windows update (when I install it, it says the update was succesful and asks me to restart, but when I search again after restarting the update shows up again and lets me install it again).
I also tried deleting and renaming my software distribution folder and using the windows troubleshooting program.
Overall I'm not really too fussed about most of the things it's trying to install apart from the drivers for the wireless reciever for my xbox controller as it won't work without them. When I try to install the driver files through device manager it gives me this error message
my main reason for mentioning the windows update problem is that I assume the problems are linked as the wireless reciever works perfectly on my laptop. Up to about a week ago it also worked perfectly on this computer using the same usb port that it uses now.
As you can see, on the 19th, it suddenly began to say "NULL DRIVER". I checked my system restore and it tells me that I installed a windows update on that day just before it suddenly stopped working. I tried reverting back to this restore point (before the update) and nothing had changed, the device still would not work.
My Optical Drive is not showing up in My Computer and I have a laptop. In Device Manager, I found that my MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ160B gives error code 19. What can I do and if need be, where can I get the driver for it?

First of all Re-install is NO option WHATSOEVER. Because i have 500 + games installed. I have a masterbackup of it but i have 200+ new games I want to fix this installation before I do a new masterbackup.
The problem is I can't install nvidia drivers I got failed to install simple error. I think this is related to the processor /raminfo not showing in management computer and DXDIAG.
So I read around abit and it was said problem might be related to WMI? So I did all things suggested but I still get the error code 127 when trying to start WMI.
I'm unable to print on my Xerox WorkCentre PE220. Win 8 installed the driver properly and did not show any errors or red flags during and after the installation. When I print a window shows up saying error cannot print.

I still get BSOD although I reformatted my pc and installed all up-to-date drivers. So far I only got BSOD while playing League of Legends.
If it's hardware, is there a way to know which hardware is it so I can replace with new one.
On my laptop, an error showed up suddenly last morning. It said something along the lines of this "Your computer's Hard Drive is failing". In more details it was my Western Digital drive, labeled at C:/. I instantly shut it off. It is a NE model laptop.

The external hard drive works on other desktop and laptop computers here at work, but when connected to the HP Pavilion (Windows 8.1 OS) it shows up as a Local Disk (H: but when trying to Open the drive it says:
"Location Not Available H: is not accessible The device is not ready."

Just updated my window 8 to window 8.1 last few months and getting trouble with my little printer.

1)having problem when install the driver from HP support and downloaded the correct driver which is window 8.1 64bit.

I am having a serious problem with minecraft. No matter what version of minecraft I use or what graphics driver I use I always get this error on win 8.1. Not on 7, only 8. : Bad video card drivers!
Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode. This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

My windows 8 computer keeps on restarting many times without much gap, and inturn it leaves me a error code before it restarts, and the error code is 0x0000005D. For the first time in a day, the computer works properly for an hour or less, then it restarts continuously by showing that error message. Am unable to fix this because my computer won't stay for a longer time to check out the issue, I have less than a hour to check and solve the problem, so a solution to fix this kind of errors.

Today, I checked my device manager and I saw the yield symbol and an error on my monitor (called "Generic PnP Monitor), but nothing seems to be wrong with it as far as I know. Massive problem I have encountered since buying a new laptop pre-installed with Windows 8.1
I have 3 external USB storage devices - 1x Corsair "Slider" 64GB, 1x HiTachi Touro 750GB, & 1x HiTachi 4TB external drive. ALL drives are coming up with the same error message and are not being recognized by Windows 8.1
The strange thing is, I also have another 2 PCs - one with Win7 and one with WinXP and the drives work without issue.
Why ALL of these drives do not work on this new laptop pre-installed with Windows 8.1?
Even stranger still is I have other thumb drives, a cheap Transcend 32GB (which is USB3.0) and a few cheapo (USB2.0) drives of various sizes by Strontium, Lexar and so on which work perfectly.
But the one that has me o.O is an expensive 64GB thumb drive called the Mach Extreme which also works perfectly with this laptop???
So all up 2x HiTachi drives & 1x Corsair thumb drive are not working and its driving me bonkers!
If no drives worked at all, then I would be seeking the manufacturer for maybe a faulty component. Dodgy USB ports, or maybe a motherboard problem. But having a handfull of drives, of various makes, sizes and both USB3.0 - 2.0 fully working leaves me scratching the old chrome dome as to what could be the issue
The HiTachi 4TB drive is my main storage device, I'm preety much stuffed if I can't get this drive working with this laptop. The same goes with the 750GB too. I REALLY need these 2 drives functional with this laptop.
New to windows 8. I'm connecting my wireless HP printer office jet 4500. I was in the process of downloading and installing the software and was stopped by this message. " Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before completing this install." Earlier I tried to install the software for an Iomega external hard drive that had crashed. It wouldn't work so I think I took the cd out without ejecting it. To the best of my knowledge there is no other installation going on. Where would I find out if a program is being installed so I can stop it?
