i installed Windows 8 in my HP 8560w ; i can't login to Windows . after i download the last driver for quadro 2000m but when i installed new update for Windows i had the same problem with black screen , to resolve that i remove battery few second and it logon normaly . is this problem of bios or of Windows ?
View 4 RepliesThe laptop I have is an ASUS g74, I purchased the copy of windows 8 from microsoft's site, upgrading from windows 7 pro. I opted to keep all my personal files/apps because the programs it warned me as being incompatible were random games and such.
I googled this problem, and it seemed fairly common months ago when windows 8 first came out on dell/HP laptops. It worked flawlessly when I first upgraded and booted up fine but once I restarted I couldn't see anything other than the screen occasionally flickering brighter and darker.
However, if I plug my laptop up to a TV with an HDMI cable I can see everything on the TV. It's just the laptop screen that is blank.
I installed windows 8 to my machine. it has intel hd graphics. I can install it fine but once i try boot Windows 8 the screen goes black (screen is actually off). I can get it to work by plugging in a HDMI cable into thee hdmi slot and use a monitor. it works perfect like that but my laptop screen stays black. It must be the graphics driver. I tried updating the graphics driver and that didnt work. I then tried installing the driver from the dell site for Windows 7 and that didnt work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install windows 8.1 on my old windows xp laptop using a bootable USB from the universal USB installer, and when i press f10 on my laptop, and tell it to boot from my USB, it pulls up a black screen with a blinking line(like a terminal). i tried pressing a bunch of keys, and the only one that i got a response from was the enter key, which made a beeping noise.should i use a different program to put the ISO on my USB?
I'm going to try a program that i used a long time ago when the UUI wasn't working called Rufus. I'll let you all know if it works. Also I'll set it to NTFS instead of fat32 and see if that works.
Upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro from 8 through the Windows Store. Everything seemed to go smoothly. Updated graphics card drivers prior to install of 8.1. Now whenever I start up, I can log in, but then it goes to a black screen with a cursor. Ctrl-Alt-Del will bring up the task manager and from there I can access programs and get on the internet. So after maybe 5 minutes or so after opening a program (usually firefox) the Metro screen randomly loads. None of the store apps worked, though I was able to find a fix for that. Some of them still don't work right though. Is there a better way to upgrade from 8 other than through the store?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just reset my laptop and am upgrading to 8.1. This is the third time I have tried upgrading and every time it results in a blank black screen. I believe it has to do with video drivers. By a blank black screen I mean totally blank. There is no backlight and there is no cursor. I had this problem when it upgraded the intel graphics driver to the .3345 version so I went into safe mode and rolled it back. After the reset I uninstalled all intel graphics driver and used the microsoft driver. When I update to 8.1 I get the black screen even with this video driver. I will keep trying using the stable intel driver to see what happens.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed 8.1 on my Samsung Series 7 Chronos laptop and it's now unusable. All I get after a reboot now is a blank screen and a vanishing cursor. I can't do CTRL+ALT+DEL or any other button combination. I also can't seem to be able to do a system restore as a restore point doesn't seem to exist for some odd reason. I've also tried the boot into low res mode but I get the same result. The only thing that seems to work is booting into Safe Mode with Networking but that doesn't allow me to install/uninstall anything so it's pretty much useless.

I cleaned the drive and allowed setup to partition and format how it sees fit on an Intel SSD.
The system copies files, sets them up and reboots.
The blue windows logo is up for a minute, then the screen (not the PC) power cycles (probably due to a resolution change). It hangs there on a black screen. There is a mouse cursor that responds and the num lock toggles on the kb, but nothing else. CTRL-ALT-DEL does nothing.
I've having an issue that I think some ppl had, windows 8 crashing going to blue screen of death or blank black screen and then it restarts by itself, also I have noticed that it says repairing disk in D:/
I have one SSD 120gb in the C:/ which it host the operating system and some minnor programs, in a HDD which is my D:/ drive there I have my games.

When I turn on or restart my computer after the teal windows logo with the spinning wheel the screen will flash off quickly then come back on black and then 10 seconds later show the lock screen.

Everytime or almost everytime I click on an app or go to the desktop and try to get on IE 10 (desktop version), my screen flashes and goes black for a few seconds then returns me to the screen with the space needle, then I click on it and it signs me back in. When I try to use Google Chrome, the websites freeze up on me. I don't want to have to reinstall/reformat as I paid $40 for this for one, and secondly, I don't want to have to repurchase Office 2010 as my licenses ran out. I ran every update that comes up and restart, but this doesn't change this issue. . why it does this and any way to fix it without reformatting?

SFC scannow fixed the issue for awhile then i got force logout then i login the same issue reappear... I dont feel like doing fresh install ...
I loaded Windows 8 x64 about a week ago, it has booted fine every day until this morning. Instead of the loading windows logo its just a black screen that never does anything, I tried safe mode but F8 does nothing. What would cause this? It loaded just fine about 10 times, the only problem I had was with the installation I had to disable the hyper-threading to install the 64-bit version.

I was casually using my pc and it suddenly shutdown. I tried to restart it, but it's stuck on black screen. Here's the thing there was no windows logo or no bios or no nothing appeared on the screen. It just goes black even if I restart it a hundred times. I am sure the cables of the monitor are fine and I am also sure that there are signals coming from the pc.
P. S. I even ASSUMED that the pc must have switched on and typed password to login and waited enough to get it to sleep mode and then recover from there. But still no luck.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI built a custom pc recently and I decided to get Windows 8.1. I built the pc and installed Windows 8.1 no problem. Rebooted after install no problem. Updated my graphics card drivers (tried playing minecraft and it said I needed to) and rebooted, no problem. Then, the next day when I turned it on, it booted onto the start screen, before the login, I clicked to continue to login and it went black. Everything but the mouse. It would flash on and off every little while.
I could move the mouse off the screen to the right and bottom, but not the top and left. I rebooted, same thing. One more reboot, and the splash screen is different . It says "Please Wait" on top of the loading circle thing. It says Recovery. I click advanced settings and continue to windows 8.1. It reboots and works fine. Until next time I turn it off and back on.

My Windows 8 just crashed, and now all I have is a black screen. The first error that came up was the "ntoskrnl.exe", and after that my computer would't start. I tried everything, like refreshing and restarting the computer. The last thing that I tried to do was to completely restart the computer; I created a new user and everything, but as I logged in windows 8 wouldn't start, and a black screen would come up. My computer is running fine like the mouse and the "ctrl-delete" are also working.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWell, the other day I found a game that I used to love from 2001 and I put it in my computer, and it starts up fine. But while it was loading I tried to alt+tab out of it to do other things while waiting. But instead it gives me one of those half game half main screen things. Where the task bar is show while the game is still on screen, but doesn't work to open the windows etc. so I tried to use task manager and it wouldn't work because of the glitches screen.
So I thought maybe if I restarted my computer it would go back to normal. But no, instead I get a (different) version of the "windows 8 black screen of death" thing. Instead of the blinking screen and stuff, the computer would turn on normally and show the hp logo (hp pavillion g6 btw) but after that, nothing. No cursor, no blinking, just nothing. Except when I press escape when it boots up, I can get into bios and stuff fine. So I tried to put my restore cd in there to try and "boot up" from it as most sites called it, and nothing. Or is it just my computer dying ( which it shouldn't be because I got it April of 2013 )
Also, sometimes when I boot it up it will go straight to the "windows automatic repair" screen with the logo, but it will sit there for maybe a minute or two and go back to a black screen
