View 7 RepliesWhen playing games on my laptop, i've been getting warnings that the game (Chivalry and Red Orchestra 2) Use to much memory and should be shut down. I have a Intel HD 4000 graphics and a Nvidia 720m cards in my laptop. Also with 8 GB's of RAM.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a very serious issue with my brand new Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 GT 650M SLI system (specs at the bottom) . I can't play games at all because my system will lock up as soon as I enter the game, requiring a hard reset. My Windows Action Center is filled with Video Hardware Error reports. Is this because of a bad video card or is it a driver/software issue? I am on a clean install of Windows 8 Pro and have already tried the 314.22 WHQL and 320.00 BETA drivers. Nothing is overclocked.

I've got a new laptop (Dell Inspiron 17r special edition) for 1 week now, and last night I've been playing Devil May Cry and I started noticing lag. Normally, I would play Devil May Cry and Resident Evil 6 on highest settings with google chrome and utorrent running in the background and it would not lag.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there anything I can do to fix this, last thing I would want to do is go back to windows 7. Games run slow in windowed mode with occasional jumpiness and in full screen they become so slow till the point it's unplayable.
View 9 Replies View RelatedApparently DirectDraw games don't run to well on Windows 8.
I recently wanted to play a Desperados an old isometric tactics game. But it ran like 10% the speed it's supposed to. So it was unplayable.
There are some alternative ddraw stuff out there. Actually one works somewhat: with wine3d-s ddraw.dll (and dependencies) the game runs mostly normally (with occasional crashes), but the game HUD is total garbage. Mostly black sometimes the proper thing flashes when I click on them.
Is there a proper solution for playing old ddraw games?
windows 8 Games app the green app with a Xbox controller freezing computer. It just happened to me was very strange i was renewing my Xbox live threw it as you can do that. and the Games app freeze my screen not all the way the mouse moved very slow, and it would freeze from time to time. and then it went from the Games app to the modern interface and then back into Games app,and then it finally came out of it. It has been OK since could it be the application hung up?

Still crashing
My computer has been crashing mostly while playing Guild Wars 2 and Archeage. It will crash, go to a weird colored screen, and I have to manually shut it off. I did a memtest and everything checked out, and I also tried switching the power supply out with one that wasn't having any problems and that didn't work either. I've also tried playing the games on the lowest settings and it still doesn't really work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to run the client, it tells me that there is a connection error, and I should check my internet connection. Well obviously, just the fact that I am able to post this thread shows that my connection is fine. I would like to reinstall the client, but it doesn't even show up in control panel to uninstall it.

but that did not work for me.
I have 8.1 up and running and I have got the desktop working closer to 7. almost dumped it from my laptop, but I am trying to hang in there.
a LITTLE issue I still have is the fact that the games that I can and have downloaded from the Windows store (Hearts, Solitaire, Spider etc. require an internet connection to actually enjoy them ( I could have missed something). As I spend 5 to 6 months cruising the USA in a Motorhome where internet access is poor or non-existent, I really miss the games that I had installed in Vista and 7. Is there a way to copy the game files, DLL's or whatever, from Windows 7 to 8.1 on my laptop.
When I play game (FYI I have only played asphalt 8: airborne downloaded from windows store), graphics freezes. I'm not able to do anything within the game or its controls except I can close it. And I have to open the app again to play it. It has happened 4-5 times in the past.Bought this laptop 2 months back. It occurs with and without Microsoft Xbox 360 game controller for PC connected. No other issues with other system performance till now.

I have done several installations of Windows 8.1 and I am an average computer user level. The PC is clean and correct, updated drivers and zero waste on my computer. Only Steam Games and downloaded files.
The point is that I can not find the reason for these crashes. Sometimes I do not even blue bug jumps, it just hangs me and I have to trace the RESET button.
I think it happens always or usually watching some video (streaming or video file on my pc) but it has also happened in a game during some cinematic but I think also in the normal course of the game, not sure.
Having some BSOD since i installed Windows 8.1
*first BSOD, when i was playing Battlefield 4 Online
*second bsod I'm playing War of Mercenaries (in facebook)
*third bsod I'm playing War of Mercenaries (in facebook).

whenever I'm playing a game it'll randomly freeze for a couple seconds and buzz/loop the current sound through my speakers. Sometimes it won't recover and I'll have to shut off my computer manually. Sometimes after a long freeze it will say Display driver crashed but recovered, I've tried updating my drivers multiple times but nothing. I'm honestly not that computer savy, I've cleaned my computer multiple times and clean started it. Works for a bit but then right back at it. It could be that my graphics card isn't strong enough for the games I play? Doubtful but I'm not sure, especially since I turn down all the graphics. It usually only occurs if I'm playing a game and have a tab open or something. Also did a computer info scan that I'll attach.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Windows 8 64 bit from Windows 7 32 bit. I never had any problems really with the windows 7 32 bit but since upgrading to Windows 8 64 bit I am having this odd problem. I am a gamer, I have Steam with lots of games and so I play one then play another and another then I go to start a game (It isn't the same game) and the computer resets and does its thing. I have made sure all my drivers are up to date as I have heard that that can be the problem.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've recently bought a computer which has has Windows 8.1 installed on it from the very beginning--had it for about 3-4 weeks by now. Everything off-games works great. 'Net runs smooth, boots up very well, etc. This is also a computer meant to play/run all sorts of games--it was benchmarked a bit higher than the average gaming computer.
This is the exact PC that I have, without any custom changes. And it is also the place I got it from with a warranty--you can also find the computer's more detailed specs in the link: CybertronPC Beast II TGM1214A Gaming PC - AMD FX-9590 4.70GHz, 32GB DDR3, 2TB HDD, DVDRW, 3GB GeForce GTX780, Liquid Cooled, Front Fan Control Panel, WiFi, Windows 8.1 at TigerDirect.com
My Problem: I noticed my problem happening when I have tried to play various games--Neverwinter Nights 2 (even though it is old, I think it still applies), Elderscrolls Online, The Secret World, WoW, Saints Row 4 (their newest one), The Forest (an alpha game on Steam) and some various others in between--some have less problems than others, however for the most recent one, I was playing Saints Row 4, and it completely froze the computer; I could not even use CTRL + ALT + Delete to get out of the game, so I was forced to press the Restart Button to restart the system.
*It is also worthy of note, that some games have less crashes than others. For example, NWN2 does not crash as often since I optimized it's settings and put it in compatibility mode. But sometimes it will flash black, then go back to the game screen, black again, etc.--it does this about 3-4 times before erroring and saying it needs to close, but that I can live with. I just wish to fix the complete lock-up freezes that make me restart my computer.
Most times I get these freezes, on the various ones I play, I get this warning in the Event Viewer, timed JUST before the freeze:
"A pointer device did not report a required angular physical range." - Event 259, Win32k (Win32k) (Warning)

I was thinking that the recent graphics card drivers may have something to do with something, however I'm uncertain. My mouse or keyboard could be the problem, however I have used the keyboard and mouse that the computer had originally came with, so I am unsure why that would be an issue--however I did try switching out the plugs into other USBs, switching keyboards, switching mice, etc. I also have a flatscreen TV-monitor which is a Samsung, however I switched out an old monitor that died on me, but it had been doing the same thing before the switch as well.
I'm very unsure what to do at this point--I can play my games, but there are various interruptions (randomly) throughout play that make me regret getting this computer (I had a Windows 7 that ran 99% of my games, without any sort of problems; and the Windows 7 wasn't even geared to the teeth like this one is.) I have also attempted to run these games in Windows XP/etc compatability modes, to no avail.
I have a problem with my machine I've been battling for months now. It will just randomly restart and I could be doing anything. It has happened when browsing the web, playing games, and even when the motherboard logo shows up during startup.
It never seems to crash when running Prime95 or OCCT stress tests. What I've done:
Hardware
-Re-installed windows twice
-Purchased new motherboard
-Purchased new CPU cooler (from air into liquid)
-Purchased new GPU (HD7950 to GTX780)
-Purchased SSD
-Monitoring software showed PSU 12v rail running at 10.8v when stressed. Checked 4 pin molex connector with voltmeter and it measured 12.2v and it dropped to 12.1v under stress.
-Changed the case, thought it was a short circuit somewhere.
Software
-Run multiple stress tests which did not cause a crash.
-Ran Prime95 and Battlefield 4 at the same time. No crash
-Updated GPU drivers
-Updated motherboard drivers
-Can't update BIOS, scared computer will restart during the flash. My motherboard revision is 1.01 and
-I've run memtest for 5 hours, but I should do it again
Sometimes, instead of a restart, my display will turn off and any sound playing will begin to loop. PC will be unresponsive. CPU temps reach only about 35 degrees under full load.

Had this computer since jan 2013 custom built from ibuypower and been having this problem since i got it. At first only got bsod from playing steam games like dead island after 30-60mins. Now i may get them about 2 times a month from just casual use. Bsod are usually different (irql not less or equal, system service exception) but always same driver fault which is ntoskrnl.exe.
I have swaped the graphics card with a similar one, no difference.
I have done 1 memtest for about 12 hours with 3 passes no errors.
I posted the latest minidump...
I have two GFWL accounts and I wanna transfer my games from one account to another so I only have one.
Is the smoothest way to do it to delete one of the accounts and reactivate my games on the other or is there a better way?
