Computer Crashing After Playing Few Games And Then Start
Dec 13, 2013
I recently installed Windows 8 64 bit from Windows 7 32 bit. I never had any problems really with the windows 7 32 bit but since upgrading to Windows 8 64 bit I am having this odd problem. I am a gamer, I have Steam with lots of games and so I play one then play another and another then I go to start a game (It isn't the same game) and the computer resets and does its thing. I have made sure all my drivers are up to date as I have heard that that can be the problem.

So I have a new Windows 8.1 build and its been having quite a few problems. On start ups if I don't go into bios before loading into windows I get a blue screen. I also get lots of crashes, usually when playing games. If you need me to upload any other files let me know. Edward.(I posted this same thing on windowsforums.com and no one has replied yet so I figured I would post here too.l) In the zip folder I have cpuz info, ramnom info and W7F diagnostic tool reports.

My computer has been crashing mostly while playing Guild Wars 2 and Archeage. It will crash, go to a weird colored screen, and I have to manually shut it off. I did a memtest and everything checked out, and I also tried switching the power supply out with one that wasn't having any problems and that didn't work either. I've also tried playing the games on the lowest settings and it still doesn't really work.

I've recently bought a computer which has has Windows 8.1 installed on it from the very beginning--had it for about 3-4 weeks by now. Everything off-games works great. 'Net runs smooth, boots up very well, etc. This is also a computer meant to play/run all sorts of games--it was benchmarked a bit higher than the average gaming computer.
This is the exact PC that I have, without any custom changes. And it is also the place I got it from with a warranty--you can also find the computer's more detailed specs in the link: CybertronPC Beast II TGM1214A Gaming PC - AMD FX-9590 4.70GHz, 32GB DDR3, 2TB HDD, DVDRW, 3GB GeForce GTX780, Liquid Cooled, Front Fan Control Panel, WiFi, Windows 8.1 at TigerDirect.com
My Problem: I noticed my problem happening when I have tried to play various games--Neverwinter Nights 2 (even though it is old, I think it still applies), Elderscrolls Online, The Secret World, WoW, Saints Row 4 (their newest one), The Forest (an alpha game on Steam) and some various others in between--some have less problems than others, however for the most recent one, I was playing Saints Row 4, and it completely froze the computer; I could not even use CTRL + ALT + Delete to get out of the game, so I was forced to press the Restart Button to restart the system.
*It is also worthy of note, that some games have less crashes than others. For example, NWN2 does not crash as often since I optimized it's settings and put it in compatibility mode. But sometimes it will flash black, then go back to the game screen, black again, etc.--it does this about 3-4 times before erroring and saying it needs to close, but that I can live with. I just wish to fix the complete lock-up freezes that make me restart my computer.
Most times I get these freezes, on the various ones I play, I get this warning in the Event Viewer, timed JUST before the freeze:
"A pointer device did not report a required angular physical range." - Event 259, Win32k (Win32k) (Warning)

I was thinking that the recent graphics card drivers may have something to do with something, however I'm uncertain. My mouse or keyboard could be the problem, however I have used the keyboard and mouse that the computer had originally came with, so I am unsure why that would be an issue--however I did try switching out the plugs into other USBs, switching keyboards, switching mice, etc. I also have a flatscreen TV-monitor which is a Samsung, however I switched out an old monitor that died on me, but it had been doing the same thing before the switch as well.
I'm very unsure what to do at this point--I can play my games, but there are various interruptions (randomly) throughout play that make me regret getting this computer (I had a Windows 7 that ran 99% of my games, without any sort of problems; and the Windows 7 wasn't even geared to the teeth like this one is.) I have also attempted to run these games in Windows XP/etc compatability modes, to no avail.

I bought a new Lenovo Y510p laptop a few months back, and just last week I decided to transition from my old computer to this laptop. The OS was Windows 8 for the laptop, later upgraded to 8.1, and everything was fine until about three days later when suddenly I realized that whenever I went on Youtube or any website with flash-based content(using Chrome btw) AND games such as WoW they crashed.
I assumed it was a problem with the new 8.1 or something with updating the graphics drivers, so I decided to completely factory reset back to 8. Re-installed Chrome and my games, and it worked fine again for a day, then started to crash again. At that point I downgraded my windows 8 to windows 7. Re-installed everything again, but it still crashed. Can't play youtube, flash content, or any games(not even the pre-installed windows games like minesweeper, solitare, etc.).

I've been having an issue that popped up today. Out of nowhere, my game (age of empires 2 HD) froze for no reason, my audio cut out completely (was listening to youtube in the background), and my skype crashed, along with videos on youtube not able to be watched anymore (they would sit at 0:00 and never advance). I also tried to launch another game after this, and it crashed immediately. My flash plugin also crashes as well. I have had this computer for about a year, and although I've had bluescreens, I've never had this issue.
So far, I have tried restoring my computer to a previous setting. This works for a few hours, but then it reverts back to the crashing of games/videos/skype.
Edit: just incase this could be relevant, I was experiencing BSOD's early after I bought this computer. Here is a thread from the BSOD section about it: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR on new system

whenever I'm playing a game it'll randomly freeze for a couple seconds and buzz/loop the current sound through my speakers. Sometimes it won't recover and I'll have to shut off my computer manually. Sometimes after a long freeze it will say Display driver crashed but recovered, I've tried updating my drivers multiple times but nothing. I'm honestly not that computer savy, I've cleaned my computer multiple times and clean started it. Works for a bit but then right back at it. It could be that my graphics card isn't strong enough for the games I play? Doubtful but I'm not sure, especially since I turn down all the graphics. It usually only occurs if I'm playing a game and have a tab open or something. Also did a computer info scan that I'll attach.

I have a problem with my machine I've been battling for months now. It will just randomly restart and I could be doing anything. It has happened when browsing the web, playing games, and even when the motherboard logo shows up during startup.
It never seems to crash when running Prime95 or OCCT stress tests. What I've done:
Hardware
-Re-installed windows twice
-Purchased new motherboard
-Purchased new CPU cooler (from air into liquid)
-Purchased new GPU (HD7950 to GTX780)
-Purchased SSD
-Monitoring software showed PSU 12v rail running at 10.8v when stressed. Checked 4 pin molex connector with voltmeter and it measured 12.2v and it dropped to 12.1v under stress.
-Changed the case, thought it was a short circuit somewhere.
Software
-Run multiple stress tests which did not cause a crash.
-Ran Prime95 and Battlefield 4 at the same time. No crash
-Updated GPU drivers
-Updated motherboard drivers
-Can't update BIOS, scared computer will restart during the flash. My motherboard revision is 1.01 and
-I've run memtest for 5 hours, but I should do it again
Sometimes, instead of a restart, my display will turn off and any sound playing will begin to loop. PC will be unresponsive. CPU temps reach only about 35 degrees under full load.

I have swaped the graphics card with a similar one, no difference.
I have done 1 memtest for about 12 hours with 3 passes no errors.

I am having trouble with system stability playing games. I suspect it's overclock related, but I've fiddled with so many settings and can't get it to stay stable. I have looked through the logs some, but I don't really understand what I'm looking at.
Is there somewhere else I can look for a guide to understanding the info that the SF Diagnostic Tool compiles?
System info:
i5 4690k @ 4.2 GHz
PowerColor AMD Radeon R9 290 PCs+ 4 GB
Gigabyte Z97N-Gaming 5
Kingstone Fury 2x4 GB DDR3-1866
Samsung 840 EVO 500 GB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 3 TB 7200 RPM HDD
Silverstone SST-SX600G PSU (600W, 80+ Gold)
Other things I've done:
-Stress test with AIDA-64 - no trouble, can run for hours and hours. Highest CPU temps under stress ~74C
-Run Memtest86+ for 10 passes - no errors
Run graphics benchmarking/ stress testing with no problems (Furmark, Unigine Valley/ Heaven)
Monitor temps on everything - CPU never goes above 75C in stress testing, mostly averages mid 60s during stress testing, low 30s at idle, and 50s gaming. GPU stays very cool, never surpassing 70C even in extended stress testing
Update motherboard and GPU BIOS
Update drivers to most current manually
The BSOD problem occurs usually after about an hour or so of gaming, sometimes less. I never get a BSOD with a message, just a stutter, then blue screen usually with a buzz coming through the speakers, then a forced restart. I can reproduce it if I run AIDA-64 and add in GPU stress test along with all the others or even if I run AIDA 64 with regular stress test and the run something like Unigine Heaven concurrently. Doing that usually produces the crash within several minutes. Event logs from the restarts always show error 0x124.
Another (unrelated I think) problem I recently had was with high latency producing audio stutter (usually with music, not noticed during gaming). I fixed this when I was going through all my drivers and updating. It seems like it was a problem with my NIC driver.

Since I got the old gpu (AMD Radeon 6950) and the new power supply (700 watt) from my brother I have been having these problems. Diablo 3 had some fps drops while engaging a big wave of enemies and sometimes my computer had some problems that programs weren't responding.
I actually wanted to upgrade my computer for a while and was hoping to fix some of my problems I have been getting (Maybe the gpu was having some problems, because of age?).
So I got the: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 (MSI), a new motherboard : ASRock B75 Pro3-M (CPUSocket), a new RAM: 8,00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz and a new Hard Drive: 932GB Seagate ST1000DM003-1CH162 (SATA).
I kept my CPU: Intel Core i7 2600 @ 3.40GHz and my power supply: corsair cx750.
Since I have been using this build, my computer kept these problems and it has become even worse after 1-2 months. My league of legends started having really bad problems with having major fps drops to the 0-30 fps, sometimes it froze for a couple of seconds. I have been checking my temp for so far, because it's getting pretty warm in my room, but it never has been to a dangerous lvl and it got checked by some of my friends that have some knowledge about it, the highest my CPU got was about 60 degrees. I have tried to reinstall the client, but nothing worked.
I started playing World of warcraft aswell since a week ago and it was impossible for me to play. Fps keeps dropping from the 95 to 0-20. I noticed though when someone lvled up or someone joined somehow that's the point where it freezes.
I reupdated my drivers from my cpu, gpu, motherboard, etc. I have run benchmarks what seems to be completely fine and it ran smoothly. Since I got my new upgrades I did get Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. And I have been running tests that burden my computer.

So, my computer has been getting the BSOD lately for the past month or so. I get at least one BSOD everyday and sometimes two or three of them. From 12 am to now, I have gotten the BSOD three times. It happens when I play games too, but I don't think the games are the cause of the BSODs because they occur even when I'm not playing. I play CS: GO and Borderlands 2 if that will work. The BSODs are always IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL errors and then BlueScreenView says it has something to do with ntoskrnl.exe. I have attached the ZIP file that the SF Diagnostic Tool recommends.

I have recently gotten a few BSODs while using Windows 7 Home, so I decided to upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro, I did a clean install and formatted my hard drive during the installation process hoping that it will solve maybe some drive related issues that was causing some of my BSODs.
After installing I am still getting BSODs, it's fine when I play certain games or browsing the net, but when I play one particular game so far on both Windows 7 and 8 it crashes and I get a BSOD, the most recent one I got while playing the game was BAD POOL HEADER with 0x00000019, the BSOD before this one was when I was livestreaming to check if the BSODs are gone that I was experiencing while using Windows 7. I checked the event logs and I kept getting errors about DeviceSetupManager with the code 0x80072EFD on both crashes.
I Googled the code and it says it's something about Windows update error or could be caused by virus. I'm not exactly sure how to fix either of these, I ran Malwarebytes to see if it can pick up anything, but it's clean, I'm using Windows Defender.
I'm also not too sure if it's hardware related since I get BSODs on both operating systems, even though I get completely different codes, BSOD and errors to what I have been getting with Windows 7. But when I was on Windows 7, I was on sevenforums trying to work out what is causing the BSODs and I have done a few things such as:
- running memtest86 for 24 hours and it found no errors
- ran disk check and then system file checker in the command prompt which was 100%.
- ran seatools and that had no errors
- ran driver verifier for 24 hours to try and cause a BSOD, but didn't cause any.
- ran 3 different benchmark tests to see if it's the Graphics card or any overheating issue and it was fine.
- Opened up my case to have a look around, cleared any dusts, reconnected the wires and re-seated the RAM.
- downloaded and installed the latest drivers
But here's the 2 minidumps that I've gotten since the Windows upgrade if any one could take a look at them for me to point me into the right direction to fixing this issue or to figure out if it's either software/drivers or hardware related.

I have had my windows 8 laptop for bout 2-3 months and ever since I brought it I have had troubles with my games and apps staying open.
When I am playing games, not sure why but every now and then when I start moving the mouse around it minimizes the game and takes me back to the desktop.
This can happen 15 times in a few minutes what it is to turn it off. I would like to play games without it flicking back to the desktop every 2 seconds.

I got a brand-new X1 Carbon ThinkPad about a week ago, and I have been experiencing various BSODs, which I have uploaded the minidump files of here.
They have varied from the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error to KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. I thought that the problem was related to my graphics card (it still very well may be), so I removed and redownloaded the graphics driver, but to no avail; the BSODs still occurred. The only thing that the various BSODs have in common is that one of the red highlighted files in BlueScreenView is always ntoskrnl.exe.

I'm having major issues with my GPU while playing games on my MSI GT60 0ND. I've tried several different drivers, from the one that came with the computer when I bought it, the one I could download from MSI's own webpage, to the newest from Nvidia. I was wondering whether you could see something in the dump files that could indicate the source of the problem.
The problem started about a year after the buy (which coincidentally was when the warranty ran out). It started out with a few BSOD's from time to time (video_tdr_failure - nvlddmkm.sys), and has now progressed to the point where the computer will BSOD shortly after playing. The problem started after I upgraded to Windows 8.1, but still persists now that I've downgraded back to 8, although it seemed like the problem was gone for a few days. The last BSOD happened while playing Hearthstone, after about half an hour of playing (which is longer than it usually takes).
Is this a software-related problem, or is the GPU simply shot?

I recently bought this PC. I use it mostly for surfing, video streaming, light online gaming.
At first I encounter the BSOD while playing League of Legends with medium settings. I get these:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_EQUAL
WHEA Error
(Chronological narration)
It only occurred first if and only if I was playing, so I thought it was a compatibility prob so I just quit. But when I played this game Dragon Nest it too BSOD's or just plain PC crash. So I thought ok I cant play these 2 games. BUT when it happened too in Dota2, I think that's too much of a coincidence. Now my PC just random crashes and I really dont know why.

Been trying to deal with a BSOD problem that resulted from KERNEL_CHECK_SECURITY_FAILURE (or something along those lines). I did some research and got it could be the RAM, HDD, or Drivers.
Scanning the RAM for 16 hours gave me two errors on test 10, passes 1 & 9. Testing the sticks individually found nothing, testing both slots found nothing. I can only assume those were false positives.
Next, I tried driver verifier. Boom. Instant crashes. Now, disabling it, I have the minidump file. Which driver is causing this problem?
