I accidentally logged into Xbox 360 SmartGlass with a different email account , now I can't find a way to logout .I want to be able to login with my actual account , I just don't know how.
View 1 RepliesI have downloaded some basic games like Solitaire, Mah Jong, and Freecell. Every time I run them, the app tries to communicate with my Xbox. It just happens that I don't own an Xbox. Is there any way I can configure the games so they don't try this rather futile communication?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOk so for the past few days windows 8 game app acts like its logged in but i don't get my friends list or my avitar and when i click on friends it says can't connect to xbox?, why is it looking for a xbox i havent had one those in a number of years. it use to work just fine i could chat with my friends and so forth see my gamer score and so on and now it just says can't connect to xbox? I can sign in threw the fable 3 game but it uses games for windows live and not the xbox game app on windows 8.

I have Mahjong installed on my own older Windows 8 Desktop and when I installed it on the new machine I must have done something differently than the first for I often get a request to sign in to my Microsoft Account and the then tells me sometimes that I have games saved out on the cloud and some locally and then asks me which do I choose. To my knowledge I have never saved any game anywhere on either machine.
Did I perhaps specify cloud storage somewhere in the setup process. How may I correct this little bothersome thing.My wife just came in and said her new machine reports 'connection to Xbox lost' or something like that while playing Mahjong. What does that mean?
I installed Windows 8 today on my machine. Everything works perfectly, I'm still playing with some options and trying to figure out what's what and what's where etc, but at the moment I'm struggling with only one thing. I can't seem to get my files (music, movies etc) from external hard drive to show in metro (music, photos, videos etc). I installed windows 8 on a separate partition on my iMac 21.5" just to play with this new OS. I have my music, movies, photos saved on my main hard drive (Macintosh HD) so I thought it won't be a problem to "link" (add) it to libraries in windows (and it wasn't a problem, I added all of my folders in libraries without any issues). But I can't seem to see those files through metro UI.
And I can't play those files trough default applications (example, through photos, videos all part of metro ui, but if I choose to view those files with windows photo viewer, or windows media player I have no problems what so ever). If I copy some of those files to "local" folders (ie to My music or My Pictures) metro picks it up without any problems, those files become visible through metro. But I don't want to copy all of my photos, music and videos to those windows libraries, there must be a way for me to add them so they become visible in metro.
I got a new video card, namely the Sapphire Vapor-X R9 280X to replace my old (broken) video card, namely the Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 Boost.
The problem is that I get no video signal when linking my new video card. The vga-led on motherboard turns on red (normally never) .
I thought my motherboard is broken, but then I tried the video card (Radeon HD 6950) from my brother and he just shows video signal. (vga-led turns not on red this time on motherboard) .
I would also say that on the box of my new video card is a 750 watt power supply recommended, but I only have a 600 watt power supply build in my pc.
I am having some problems with 3 years old PC. Only while playing games (Civ 5 - Heroes & Generals - Rise of nations) I suffer from freeze/crashes, PC doesn't show a BSOD, the mouse pointer works normally it doesn't freeze (until I try to alt+tab or alt+ctrl+del), and from my speakers I can hear looping sounds.
The only thing I can do is a hard reboot. I try reinstalling windows, and the problem still exists.My BIOS, drivers* and OS are update, I perform a memtest for 6 hours and show no errors, I can run prime95 + kombustor and everything is fine, no temps problems, GPU never go over 68c and CPU at 58c, and no crashes.
DSIM commands show no errors neither.
*I tried latest NVIDIA drivers, and old ones, im actually using 334.89 version, and the problem persist.
It's been happening for awhile now since windows 7 through to windows 8 and i'm not sure why but it usually happens when i play games even with lowest settings, whenever it freezes it makes me have to force shut down manually.

I have a question regarding PC gaming, since I realy dont know as much as I would like to.
My question is what role does my CPU play in gaming? Is it a big thing? I always thought that having a strong, powerful graphics card was more important that a powerful CPU.
Is there a particular thing that the CPU does in PC gaming that makes having a strong one essential?
Okay, this is the second time with a different game this is happening, at very specific points in the game, My Laptop's screen blacks out and goes off, the computer stays on with lights and stuff but the screen just stays off like when you put off a pc but the fans keep running, I then have to forcefully power my pc off to put off the entire system.
I don't think this has anything to do with my Laptop's temperature as I've just had the vents and heat sinks ventilated recently, also cause the laptop goes off at just one scene in a particular mission in both games, Assassins Creed and Far Cry 3.
I don't think its my PC's specs either cause I went through the requirements of these games before getting them. I've not been able to go past the stages in the game where my PC goes off.

Few days ago a friend showed me a great OSx functionality - Smart Folders. Basically it is a "virtual" folder, does not really contains files but rather an active search folder.
Let say you want to have a place that will display only word/text documents created within last 5 days, or only doc files.... regardless of where they really are.
Can you get such functionality in Windows? I know "search" pretty good but using it instead of set folder, means we have to perform search every time we want to display files we look for.
I have a second hard drive on my HP DV7 laptop. It's a 750GB Hitachi.
Last week I started getting a SMART event and it would ask if I wanted to check the disk. Now every time I start the computer, it's running chkdsk and found a bunch of bad clusters. Also Some of my directories are missing, yet the space available remains the same, so its not deleting the directories and freeing up the space.
I'm recovering the data tonight but I have a few questions:
1) My data recovery software has the option to skip bad directories. Should I do this? And if I do not skip this, will this simply transfer the errors to the hard drive that I'm recovering to.
2) If I clean and then reformat, will the disk be usable? Or should I just junk it and get a new one.
USB recovery image for a Vivotab Smart? I put mine on a flash drive, deleted it from my tablet's hard drive, and then that flash drive died! It will be a huge file to download but it would be a very important backup.

I want to Smart Copy source to destination (1 to 2) but synchronization doesn't work. Here I have a .txt file in source but not updated in destination (I really want it to work vice versa if possible).
I have some programs (on my PC) that I would like to install somehow onto my vivotab. I am not super programmer literate so simple terms are best. I plugged my tablet into my PC to try to just drag the program over (apparently that is a no go). I even got so far as to drag it into the public file and it showed up on my tablet but doesn't work when I try to open it so I don't think it actually moved the whole program.
I do have the CDs for the programs but obviously there is no CD drive on the tablet. I do not have an external CD drive and do not plan on getting one, I am hoping there is some way to just transfer the program from my PC or somehow use my PC AS an augmented CD drive.
I upgraded the O/S to Win8 Pro from Standard in order to use the WMC and now the Sleep mode doesn't behave as before.

I was using a router to access the web with my smart phone. I no longer use a smartphone and have gone back to a home phone.
The router is still hooked up and I was wondering, is the computer utilizing it in any way? Should I leave it hooked up?

My tablet is running fine, but I did something (not bright) which could leave me in a lurch later. Here's what I did, and what I'm looking for.
Soon after I purchased my Asus VivoTab Smart, I made a USB recovery disk, complete with recovery partition. Then, to save disk space on the tablet, I deleted the recovery partition on the tablet. So far, so good. Where I blew it was when I got my flash drives mixed up and then erased my USB recovery disk! The tablet runs fine, but if I ever want to refresh it or do a reset, I need the recovery partition, either on the tablet or on a flash drive.
Is it possible to get that partition back?

Have the image on a USB drive, just got the computer back, however I cannot restore my computer. Not sure why but whenever I select the restore option it wont let me pick a local folder or usb drive as the location of the backup image, it seems to be looking exclusively for networked drives/machines
I've read I may need a restore cd to get this working, however my tablet only has 1 usb drive and no disk drive, what should I do?

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter using Windows 8 on one of my machines, it had become apparent Microsoft is taking a new turn with their operating system. I wondered at first why Windows 8 was so much less expensive than previous versions of Windows. Now it seems clear to me. All the nice games in previous windows are now gone, and if you want games you now have to use metro and Xbox games. If you play the games at all, the big difference is now all the advertisements.
Any way to block these ads, but no luck. Microsoft has even fooled around and made it somewhat difficult to alter the hosts file. Figuring out a way to effectively block the ads ....
I actually installed the Android on Intel Architecture onto my Samsung xe700t a few times over the last few months, adjusting windows 8 or android options to suit my needs, but a few days ago I decided to format my laptop and reinstall Windows 8 and reinstall Android as I have previously, I am now getting this error message at the very end of the android installation process:

I have updated the bios, I have made sure my laptop is in UEFI format, I have made secure the BIOS isn't in secure boot, I have tried various USB sticks, I have also made sure the USB stick is first in the boot order.
So why I can't install Intel Android onto my pc anymore ...

View 8 Replies View RelatedI doubleclicked on an MP4 to play it (from Explorer) and this XBox Video thing came up and played it. Fine, looks like a nice player. But when I stopped it wanted to exit the application -- can't find a way.
Oh, I can switch to ANOTHER application, but how the heck do I close this thing down? I could bring up Task Manager and kill it there (I suppose -- haven't even seen if there is still Task Manager, although I assume they would not have gotten rid of that) but there MUST be a simple way to close out an app, right?
(If not I'm going to remove that app and make sure I never accidentally bring it up again).
