View 3 RepliesI upgraded the O/S to Win8 Pro from Standard in order to use the WMC and now the Sleep mode doesn't behave as before.
how to reset it back to the factory settings? The Win8 RESET function under the Control panel returns it back to a fresh copy of Win8 Pro and not Win8 Standard. I also see a recovery partition on its Hard Drive.
I have one of the above tablets that came with windows 8.
Id like to do a clean install of windows 8.1 but the widows 8 key that came with it doesn't seem to work with 8.1.
Ive installed windows 8.1 using the generic key but i cant get my key to activate 8.1. when i insert the supplied key into windows it says the key cant be used ( or summit at work atm)
Is the problem that the windows 8 key it came with says ' Windows 8 Small Screen Touch '?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've a tablet with Windows 8, the resolution is not so hight.. 1280x800 pixels.
I use it mostly for play a game where is needed to write a lot, and I use the OnScreen Keyboard for do that.
The problems are two:
1. I can't use the game with full screen mode because I can't call the keyboard with Volume Up + Windows key, despite I've configured this shortcut in Windows' options...
2. I'd like to make the keyboard not 100% opaque, but transparent, so I can see what happen below it (the keyboard take more of the 50% of the screen).
Does Windows 8 control the layout of the on-screen keyboard of a touchscreen monitor? Or is it the monitor? An online retailer is advertising the monitor as having the QWERTZ layout, but I am used to QWERTY and want to be sure that I can change it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAs a Multi-Monitor user I'm currently plagues with 3 Problems concerning the Metro Style OnScreenKeyboard.
1. For most of the time it appears on the wrong Monitor - Not the one with touch capability thus forcing me to manually move it over to the right screen which, at best, is annoying.
It appears it's kind of bound to where the Start Screen currently resides but it would be a lot more useful if it could be tied to one screen.
2. On 2 of my Screens it takes up about - the screen space limiting their usefulness while on my other 2 about - which is more desireable - what triggers this behavior and how can I control it?
3. Is there an option to force the OSK to keep the last setting of which Keyboard I've used? It keeps reverting to the simple one when I'd like to use the Advanced one.
My tablet is running fine, but I did something (not bright) which could leave me in a lurch later. Here's what I did, and what I'm looking for.
Soon after I purchased my Asus VivoTab Smart, I made a USB recovery disk, complete with recovery partition. Then, to save disk space on the tablet, I deleted the recovery partition on the tablet. So far, so good. Where I blew it was when I got my flash drives mixed up and then erased my USB recovery disk! The tablet runs fine, but if I ever want to refresh it or do a reset, I need the recovery partition, either on the tablet or on a flash drive.
Is it possible to get that partition back?
I installed windows 8.1 in clean mode . now I want to reset to factory default but I have not backuped media. but I have recovery partition but I can not build recovery disk because when I use"create recovery drive" wizard I can not select " copy the recovery partition from the pc to the recovery drive" because it is inactive.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy BT keyboard is no longer discoverable by my ASUS Vivotab ME 400C.
Seemed to suddenly stop working after a couple of incidents where a letter would be repeated 1 hundred times. (i.e. "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" for "e")
The keyboard was recognized by my Blackberry and is working.
I went to Windows Support section and it said to go to PC Settings/Devices/Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on, but I was unable to locate a place to turn Bluetooth off or on.
I went into Device ManagerBluetoothBluetooth Radio and found status "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)."
This may have occurred quite shortly after I installed an ASUS BIOS update, but I think it was a couple of days at least. I installed Windows 8.1 when it was initially released and had problems with SDBUS shutting down the tablet. The BIOS update fixed that.
I checked the Driver on the Bluetooth radio and it says it's the best one for the device.
I thought maybe I should uninstall/re-install the driver but I've never done this. That is I don't know if the Bluetooth icon will disappear altogether or something wierd.
Everytime I start my computer it ends up showing the icon for the onscreen keyboard in the taskbar notification area. How can I prevent this? I don't need the onscreen keyboard and doubt if I'd ever use it. Oh, by the way, I'm running W8.1 if that matters.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have the game Hoyle Card Games running on a tablet with Windows 8. When the game starts, it opens in a full screen graphical layout and asks for a username, but I don't know how to get the keyboard up to type my name.
is there a way to get the keyboard to show while in the game?
My probleem is that snap and the big onscreen keyboard only function after a restart of the system but not at cold boot..
My screen is 22" 1680x1050.
I've got a tablet that runs Windows 8 pro. When the keyboard is up it takes up half of the screen, making is difficult to see whatever it is I'm working in and I can't figure out how to re-size it.
I'm also trying to re-size the tabs in Microsoft Excel. I know how to do this in Window 7 but I can't find the proper place with in the control panel in windows 8 to do it.
After I upgraded to 8.1, I am not getting any sounds when hitting the individual keys on the onscreen keyboard. I have looked all through GodMode regarding 'Sounds' but can't find anything to enlighten me. It is turned on in "PC settings".
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have some programs (on my PC) that I would like to install somehow onto my vivotab. I am not super programmer literate so simple terms are best. I plugged my tablet into my PC to try to just drag the program over (apparently that is a no go). I even got so far as to drag it into the public file and it showed up on my tablet but doesn't work when I try to open it so I don't think it actually moved the whole program.
I do have the CDs for the programs but obviously there is no CD drive on the tablet. I do not have an external CD drive and do not plan on getting one, I am hoping there is some way to just transfer the program from my PC or somehow use my PC AS an augmented CD drive.
USB recovery image for a Vivotab Smart? I put mine on a flash drive, deleted it from my tablet's hard drive, and then that flash drive died! It will be a huge file to download but it would be a very important backup.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI bought a sumsung Ativ smart pc about a year ago, recently had to take it in for repairs (still under warranty), before taking it in I used the "windows 7 recovery" system (despite being in windows 8) to create a system image, I then reset my computer to factory settings
Have the image on a USB drive, just got the computer back, however I cannot restore my computer. Not sure why but whenever I select the restore option it wont let me pick a local folder or usb drive as the location of the backup image, it seems to be looking exclusively for networked drives/machines
I've read I may need a restore cd to get this working, however my tablet only has 1 usb drive and no disk drive, what should I do?
know if it's possible to install android to this device, in order to dual boot win8 and android.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI actually installed the Android on Intel Architecture onto my Samsung xe700t a few times over the last few months, adjusting windows 8 or android options to suit my needs, but a few days ago I decided to format my laptop and reinstall Windows 8 and reinstall Android as I have previously, I am now getting this error message at the very end of the android installation process:
fatal: assertion failed bootable/iago/plugins/gummiboot.c:gummiboot_execute:154 'efibootmgr encountered an error (status 100) root@android:/#
I have updated the bios, I have made sure my laptop is in UEFI format, I have made secure the BIOS isn't in secure boot, I have tried various USB sticks, I have also made sure the USB stick is first in the boot order.
So why I can't install Intel Android onto my pc anymore ...
i recently purchased a Surface Pro 3. I had the option of buying a keyboard cover, but they would only discount it to $20 cheaper, so i declined with the intention of buying one online for a better price. It seems that in Australia, the red keyboard is also not available, which is the one i want. If a foreign keyboard would be compatible?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy laptop running windows 8.1 (not a touch screen) - I would like to know how to use the Touch Keyboard in the windows store app. I have the Yahoo Mail app downloaded from the windows store, I want to open the Touch Keyboard inside the Yahoo Mail app so that I can insert the emoji icons.
I already knew this: Go to desktop, right click the taskbar => Toolbar => Touch keyboard. Now what, how can I make the touch keyboard popup inside Yahoo Mail app?
I am trying to Boot from a USB Pen Drive on my Asus VivoTab running 8.1. There is no keyboard available in Trouble Shoot/Advanced Options UEFI Firmware Settings & Startup Settings. Screen or Asus Bluetooth keyboard.
BTW the 8.1 update went well. All my Desktop apps were preserved as well as Tablet.
Also, poking about in the Troubleshoot area it is possible to load a system image. Not found out how to make one yet !
A lot of rubbish seems to have been written about the 8.1 update.
I have a dell xps 12, for some reason I can't find a way to make the on screen keyboard appear automatically when I click a text entry field, like it does on phones.
I have to manually select it from the task bar each time when I use it as a tablet.
I just purchased a thinkpad tablet 8 thinking it would be light years ahead of my 3 year old android tablet. man, am I disappointed.
The onscreen keyboard just sucks compared to my galaxy tab 7.7. not only do I have to press the little icon on the bottom of the screen to pop it up manually, there is zero feedback. no haptic feedback, can barely hear any sound, the number row is in a different page, and it doesn't auto fill any forms with previously typed info, such as email, names, etc.
And the android widgets is better than the Windows 8 tiles. The stock tiles for example, instead of showing my watched stocks, it cycles through a slideshow of useless info and would take forever to cycle through the stats I want.
On android, the keyboard would appear and disappear automatically depending on where u click on the browser. on windows u have to do it automatically. I'm using the stock ie browser.
So far I am extremely happy with my Asus table and Windows 8.1. Everything I have tried to do was simple and easy except one thing. Since for some (stupid reason IMO) reason few of the Windows tablets have the GPS enabled the ME400C included so i am forced to use a Bluetooth GPS. But I have found few maps that are off line. I have tried about every app I can find and the most promising was HERE that has offline maps but it doesn't seem to support the GPS, at least I haven't been able to get it to see my BT GPS. Any good combination of the works with a Bluetooth GPS and has offline maps?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS VivoTab that kept draining the battery. I noticed that after shutting down, I would open up the case or transleeve and discover it was on.
After determining that I hadn't accidentally left it on, I watched it after shutting down one evening and indeed about 2 minutes later, it turned itself back on.
I shut it down using the shutdown from the initial screen. That is, I did not use the Charms bar, select Settings and shut down. This appears to work.
Is this a wonky tablet? Related to Windows 8?
Recently, I have a hybrid laptop (Lenovo Yoga 2 13). It recognizes my different laptop positions, so the keyboard is disabled when I rotate the screen.
But when I use it in laptop mode (using regular keyboard to type), I still get the touch keyboard on screen when I touch the screen on a writing field. How can I disable the touch keyboard if I use the tablet in laptop mode?
I have the touch keyboard toolbar enabled in Windows 8. I'm talking about this:
It used to work just fine a couple of days ago but as of yesterday or so it stopped working. I click the keyboard icon but nothing happens. This still happens after resetting.
I have a Asus VivioTab ME400C. I am trying to instal Microsoft Autoroute onto my tablet. I have tried over the network from my desktop using the /a option to install over a network (which Autoroute Demands). But when I try to instal Autoroute from the transferred code it demand disk 2 be inserted but fails to recognise it.
There must be a way of installing programs from a CD/DVD on Windows 8.
I tried copying the CD's to SD drives but no luck. Also tried moving the install code to one directory.
The annoying thing is I did this last week but later the SD card failed.
