All I'm trying to do is move/organize my emails into folders, and although I can create a new folder, when the toolbar pops up, and I click on "MOVE", my screen greys out...has done this over and over.

I have an old desktop PC (circa 2002) running XP
On that PC, I have been using Office Professional Plus 2010 & Outlook to access my email account (POP)
I just purchased a Windows 8 laptop. Since the Windows 8 Mail app will not work with POP email accounts, my email/internet access provider (Comcast) recommended using Windows Live Mail (I'm using 2012 version). This works fine for new emails. However, I have not been able to find a way to "move" the historical emails from my Outlook 2010 (PC) to WinMailLive (laptop.)
Exporting the emails from Outlook 2010 creates a .PST file which is not recognized by WinMailLive.
I tried using MailStore, but it will only archive email from the Inbox for POP accounts.
Any way to move emails from Outlook 2010 to WNL 2012, that is easier than forwarding all the historical emails to myself from the Outlook PC & then reorganize them in WML on the laptop?
For some reason, the Mail app seems to completely ignore emails in any other folder than my Inbox (i.e. the Social and Newsletters folder). It alerts me (although very late) for emails in my Inbox folder but there are no alerts when receiving emails in my Social or Newsletter folders.
Even when opening the Mail app and I see there are 7 new emails in the Social folder and 1 in my Inbox, the live tile only shows there is 1 email.
I have double checked ALL the options in the Mail app and the PC Settings app to make sure alerts should pop up as soon as new email comes in. The option to alert me for any kind of email (not just favorites) is also enabled.
I have reinstalled the Mail app, I have restarted the Windows Firewall service, performed the SFC /scannow command without finding any integrity violations and have run the App Troubleshooter to fix any issues without any result.
Running Windows Pro 8.1 (Update 1) x64 bit.
Instead of going into my hotmail.com online account to check my email, I access email via Outlook. I used to have folders full of emails in Outlook; the folders are still there, but none of the emails are in them. If I sign in to my hotmail.com account on line, all of the folders contain the emails. Why the emails no longer show up in the Outlook folders?

I have many folders, sometimes like 90 folders and I want to move them all into a single folder, the filenames are the same so they overwrite. I can overwrite them, in fact, I should, I just want to move all files from many folders into one folder, not doing it manually. Is there a command in CMD that can do that? E.g I have FolderSubfolder 1... Subfolder 90 so in 1 folder I have the subfolders then I have RootFolder where I want all to be and overwritten, MOVED not copied

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running windows 8 on a dell xps pc. I have 2 large 3tb and 4tb external seagate drives. After a day or so they lose part of the connection. You can see the drive and folders a couple of levels deep but you can't see files. If you unplug and start again everything is there. On other machines it's not a problem. When you try to eject usb hardware it displays that something is accessing the device. So it's not the drive, it's a driver or something else.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThe last time I tried to organize the default libraries located at user/name/docs etc in my Tablet I messed up had multiple locations showing folders like music, documents etc .
This is what I would like to do:
I have created 2 extra partitions E : and F : I would like my Data( like .PST) and Document folders to be in E and my entertainment folders like music, videos etc to be located in F:
The last time I did this I created the folders in E and F drives then included them in the libraries, this truly messed up file explorer with "duplicate entries" .
a) Is the best way to just relocate the default library folders in User to other drives ie going to Properties /location etc
b) Is it possible to delete the default folders in User , create folders in other drives then include them in the library ? in this case the folders wont be associated with user/name?
IE Desktop (Menu bar) Favorites always seem to sort by name. Want to manually shift high usage items to top like I could with IE8. Have disabled Add-ons (Classic IE, Logitech SetPoint, Shockwave) with no effect. Looked in IE options for a sort or drag/drop setting, but didn't see anything.

It's attached to all my accounts - medical, business etc etc. Windows 8 doesn't work with pop emails so I bought and installed office 10 to use Microsoft outlook. I am missing at a least of half my emails. Important emails. I have spent countless hours troubleshooting with Dell, Microsoft.

I do NOT have Hotmail,and never have used Windows Messenger. I have tried deleting and reinstalling Windows Live Mail but the same thing happens with new install. After reporting this to a 2nd level MS Support person, he still hasn't fixed it though he has spent a lot of time on it so far. I finally Googled about the issue and found that many others were having the same problem. I have heard that disabling IPv6 has corrected the problem. I tried it but I couldn't do the last step to create a new DWord. After upgrading, I installed the latest drivers for the motherboard.t's about like the days of dial-up modems! Why can't Microsoft resolve this issue soon? I have checked my Internet connection for "speed" and it's not the problem. The only thing I changed was the OS.

Now every time I try to download a word document from emails of any source (college site, work site, personal email) I get a message that Internet Explorer is not responding and the email never downloads.
I don't want to download the the files into Internet Explorer (even if that did work). I often need to edit these documents or work as a collaborative group on online assignments. Now I cannot even access them

I have tried and tried to send and receive emails with Outlook.com but I cannot get it to work, I have asked my 20 years old Grandson to have a go as well but without success, Outlook is now blocking every thing we try.
every thing else seems to be working fine and of course so much faster than my old computer.
After suffering a Windows 8.1 boot failure, and despite manyattempts at recovery, I finally had to reinstall my WIN 8 Boot disk, then usethe free update download to reinstall WIN 8.1.Since getting the PC up and running again. I have connectedthe original disk via a USB port, and tested it with cHkdsk and anti virus software, which both give it a clear bill ofhealth. And I can see all the original folders.Unfortunately due to the change of boot disk, I have lost mypast two months Windows Live emails. Is there any way I can recover them fromthe original Disk ?

I have 8.1 I open Gmail. there I open a PDF doc. Pr a pic. Or a Microsoft word doc. I see the doc. On the bottom of my tablet screen I see the option of open with... or download. and some triangle thing. it offers apps to open with (none ate adobe or Ms word). none are the adobe I have. It wants me to go to the store. when I tap download nothing happens. when I hit the triangle. It wants me to go to the store again.

I just got my hard drive back. I bought the computer in Sept. and the HD went. So it had to go to California. When I got the computer back the time was California time. I clicked on the time in the right hand corner and changed it to Eastern Standard time. It is still accurate in the right hand corner but people are saying my emails times are all wrong. They are receiving them before I've written them. And... to increase the mystery everyone's emails are coming to me with the wrong times. What could be wrong? Is it possible California time is still active somewhere else on the computer?
I'm using Outlook Mail. I went to my mail on roadrunner and the times are accurate so the problem is somewhere on my computer.
For a couple weeks I have been streaming shows to my ps3 from my computer. On my PS3 I have access to four folders, Videos, Music, Pictures, and Playlists, the first three of which I can locate on my computer. When I want to watch a video, I simply copy it into the Videos folder on my computer, then stream from there.
Now I'd like to stream music, my problem is that my music isn't in my Music folder, I have it in a separate folder that doesn't show up on my PS3. Copying over all my music would take time, and I'd also have to redo my WMP playlists. I have tried adding this folder to my shared folder list, and to my Music library, but neither of these things made a difference.
I've spent a couple hours now trying to figure this out, but I can't seem to find anything on google that relates to my specific problem, but there is absolutely no way I'm the first person who's ever wanted to access folder's other than the 4 I've mentioned.
I have a POP3 Email address (Tiscali). i have it set up on "Outlook" I can send and receive Emails ok but the check for new incoming ones is currently every 30 minutes. I should be able to change that to what I want (every 2 minutes).
I cannot find how to do it - despite Goggling for a solution. Some solutions were given but the options were not visible on my machine.
Whenever I try to sync up my AOL account through the Mail app, it says that my email address "is unavailable". I try removing the account and re-adding it, all of my emails get re-synched, and then...nothing. Can't send emails, can't receive new emails. I tried checking and unchecking "sync mail", nada.

I realise that I can obviate scrolling by reducing the zoom from 100% to 75% but I don't find that very comfortable, the text size is then too small for my liking.

I was surprised that my msn e-mail account was able to switch over to my laptop so easily, since Time Warner is my provider on the new laptop.
I can access the e-mails without a problem, but I can neither reply nor send e-mails.
Instead, I always get the pink writing beneath the e-mail address stating that " one or more e-mail addresses does not support this format sample@something.com. Yet all the formats are correct.
Why I can't send out anything?
What has happened but loads of emails has been sent out to most people on my address book , i clean my puter every time I use it , I have done the scanning and everything ...
