Debugging :: Windows 8.1 Build - Widespread Memory Related BSOD?

Feb 23, 2014

I have a new laptop and am trying to work out the kinks

Its a new Windows 8.1 build. But seems to be causing all kinds of problems. And honestly i'm not sure where to start trying to fix it. I think its driver related but have tried updating a few drivers with varying success (as even this has led to some BSODs)

Debugging :: BSOD During Games / Multiple Error Codes - Memory Related?

Sep 15, 2014

The computer would just freeze up and not go to blue screen, However, since upgrading to Windows 8.1 it has been giving me a blue screen and error message, what could be wrong. I am positive the errors over the years have all been by the same, as what causes them and what occurs after is always the same.

After booting up, if I decide to play a game, practically any that require 3-d graphics, the game will start to slow down and the audio will start to crackle. Then, the computer will freeze up. When I ran Windows Vista it just stayed frozen, but now during Windows 8.1 it goes to blue screen and shuts off. After rebooting, everything runs perfectible normally and I can run any game perfectly without slowdown or freezing. Then, after shutting down and rebooting another day the same problem will arise.

It's not necessarily the worst error, but I don't quite like leaving my computer in sleep mode as it still drains some power. From what I gathered for Blue Screen View, it seems to be a memory issue. The first error code I received when using Windows 8.1 was PFN list corrupt. That prompted me to test and reseat the ram. Windows Memory Diagnostic came out clean, but the error persists. The latest time I have had this problem, the error was Memory Management, 0x0000001a.

I have updated the BIOS to latest version and have overclocked my RAM, however, the problem existed before O.C.

The errors that appear when my PC restarts are to do with memory dumping.

Debugging :: BSOD After Waking Up From Sleep Mode Related To Xonar Card?

Jun 22, 2014

I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 recently. Now when my computer wakes up from sleep I receive a DRIVER_IRQ_NOT LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD related to cmudaxp.sys, which I've discovered is related to my Asus Xonar Essence STX sound card. I am running the Windows 8.1 beta drivers directly from Asus's website, and the drivers were working fine before my clean install. What could be causing this problem now, after everything was fine before?

Specs:

MOBO: MSI Z87-G45
CPU: Intel i7 4770k
RAM: Kingston HyperX Black 8GB 1600Mhz
GPU: Asus GTX680 DirectCuII Top Edition

Debugging :: Multiple Different BSOD's On New Build With Windows 8.1

Sep 15, 2014

I built a new computer for my girlfriend, which of course ran fine at my house for 4 days, and even passed 12 hours of prime95. She lives over an hour away, and since I left a few days ago, she has had multiple problems with BSOD's. It seems to occur far more often when powering the computer on, and then it often takes multiple attempts to get the pc running - but once it is running, it seems to be somewhat stable. It seems to be somewhat random whether it will power up normally.

Some basic hardware info:
Intel Pentium G3258 with stock cooler running at stock speed (3.2)
Corsair XMS 2x4GB DDR3 1333
Gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2V motherboard
Hanns-G HT231DPBU Touchscreen monitor
Plextor M6S SATA3 (6Gb/s) solid state
Corsair CX430M PSU

I am not sitting at the PC now, but I did manage to get her to send me the minidumps. However, I am not able to figure out what the error is, or even how to start looking for it. I have 6 minidumps, mostly different days, with 6 different errors. I am attaching the minidumps here. I've run them through online crash analyzers, and can't find a pattern.

Debugging :: New PC Build And Windows 8 Installed But Getting BSOD Due To WLAN Device?

Jul 26, 2014

I keep getting BSODs after building a new PC and installing Win 8. The error I am getting from my Intel event log says: 2000 Error communicating with WLAN device.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the WLAN drivers but am not having any luck. I have found newer driver versions but none of the driver installs take now. Seems like the driver that was installed is now corrupt, or parts of it are lingering. When I uninstall the device and driver from Windows (cause I don't need it), Windows finds it when auto scanning for hardware and then I get another BSOD.

The ethernet device that seems to be having the issue is a Killer e2200 built into my MSi Gaming 5 Motherboard.

Debugging :: BSOD On Custom Build?

Nov 11, 2013

I recently had a computer custom built at my local Fry's (not so local though..) 2 weeks ago.

On the second day, the CPU was BSOD hourly, and after bring it to Fry's, they said the power supply was bad, and they replaced it.

I'm still having issues with random BSOD and would rather not bring it to Fry's to have them trouble shoot it for a few days, replace the "bad" component, and give it back to me with the same issue.

My CPU and Motherboard temps average 30-35c even while gaming.

I'm beyond the "return" time frame and only have 2 weeks of build support left from Fry's.

Here are my CPU specs

Debugging :: Driver Related BSOD - Minidumps By Driver Verifier

May 23, 2014

My computer has always had intermittent BSOD but generally it's been only 1-2 a month and after a system restart everything works fine. In the last couple of weeks I've been getting BSOD after only a few minutes of operation every time I start up and generally after these errors the computer won't boot - sometimes it will be a black screen after BIOS check, sometimes it won't even get that far - just black screen without the BIOS check even starting. Usually the only way to get it to boot again is to disconnect the power and remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard. I've run driver verifier which has indeed generated it's own minidumps but I don't really understand what these error reports are trying to tell me.

Debugging :: Windows 8 - BSOD Memory Management Error Starting Up

May 28, 2014

My computer was fine one day then, today when I was just browsing the internet it crashes. The computer restarts and then tells me there was a problem, then when I log in I get nothing but a black screen but my mouse can still move around. sometimes when starting up it takes me to the page and asks what to do. I tried refreshing the pc first and it did nothing. I then started it in safe mode and ran sfc /scannow on command prompt and it told me there were problems but it couldn't solve some of them it gave me something to look up but once again it crashed and restarted before I could read it.

I've had the computer for just over a year and it has always had windows 8.

Debugging :: Getting BSOD And Low Memory Errors While Playing Dota 2?

Feb 20, 2014

I have an Asus laptop model X501A. A few months ago I had to get the hard drive replaced which Asus did themselves and ever since then I have been getting BSOD and low memory errors while playing Dota 2. My computer always ran the game fine before this. I can still run the game for the most part but I get the memory error every time. I can usually just close the error and continue playing, but it has gotten to the point where I blue screen multiple times a day during game. I have also heard that Windows 8.1 might be the reasoning behind this as well. I do not know much about computers and I am not sure whether I used the SF Diagnostic tool correctly, but I am attaching the zip file.

Debugging :: New PC Build Crashing / Hangs In W8.1 And W7

Nov 12, 2013

have been having crashes with my newly built PC at various stages in setting the computer up. if my technical language is lacking.

My System
CPU: AMD FX 6300
GPU: Gigabyte ATI HD7870 OC Ed
Mobo: ASRock 970-PRO3.R2
RAM: G SKill 8G(2x4G) DDR3 1600Mhz PC12800(GS-F3-1600C9D-8GAO)
SSD: Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO
HDD: Seagate 1TB Barracuda
PSU: Antec NEO 520C ECO 80Plus Bronze

Windows 8.1
First noticed issues when on the initial installation of windows 8.1 there was a hang while it was showing the blue windows logo. Multiple attempts led to me reaching various stages of setting up the computer, i.e. installing all latest drivers, BIOS and firmware for the hardware and installing a number (but never all) of the available windows updates. Through out the process I experienced frequent BSOD (generally within second or minutes of logging into the user) that did not appear to be initiated by anything in particular. Hangs were frequent when attempting windows updates (happened during 'checking for updates', 'downloading updates' and 'installing updates' on shutdown). Examples of the types of BSOD experienced.

CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT error
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXTENSION_NOT_HANDLED
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
PAGED_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Attempts at fixing the issue included fresh windows 8.1 installs (where crashes/hangs during installation off disc were experienced), resitting RAM, installing windows on HDD by itself (as opposed to SSD by itself), running startup repair tools (various times did not detect a problem or could not fix). Problems continued in various frequencies at various stages no matter the attempted fixes.

Windows 7 Suspecting compatibility issues between the hardware drivers and windows 8.1, a fresh install of Windows 7 was attempted. This has been more stable on installing drivers but on attempting windows updates the same update problems were experienced in the forms of hangs rather than BSOD, the only BSOD error that has come up on occasion is 'a clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval'. This BSOD has interrupted the installation (on shutdown) of windows updates on the rare occasion they manage to download in their entirety. More frequent crashes was also experienced after updating to the latest GPU driver. Installing the latest mobo AMD All in 1 driver from ASRock (contains AMD Catalyst Install Manager, AMD SATA AHCI Driver, AMD USB Fillter Driver) causes windows to freeze on restart at the Starting Windows page with windows logo but seems to function OK after restart.

Troubleshooting for windows updates including running check disk and windows update diagnostic tool which did not appear to show or fix issues.

Startup repair was also attempted and provided the following Root cause found: Unknown Bugcheck: Bugcheck 101. Parameters = 0x21, 0x0, 0xfffff88002f65180, 0x2. Not sure if that means anything.

At the moment the PC has windows 7 installed onto the SSD, latest lan/usb/audio drivers and microsoft security essential (antivirus) installed with only 2 windows updates installed: Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB2621440) Update for Microsoft Windows (KB976902)

This appears to be stable, but attempts at windows update and installing the mobo driver causes the problems mentioned above. I have been using the current setup as a restore point.

The below minidump is within the context of the 'stable' config + latest mobo AMD All in 1 driver and the BSOD occurred while installing windows updates before shutdown.

BSOD In Windows 8 At Infrequent Times (Memory Management 0x0000001a)

Mar 13, 2013

After spending hoursonline on these BSODs, I finally decided to spit the error out somewhere since BSOD can occur out of nowhere and situation is different for everybody.

My friend and I bought Asus N55 and N56VM on 27th Feb 2013 respectively. We both had Windows 7. Unfortunately, after a few updates, I got BSOD on the very first day. I've had Vaio F113fx/b before.

After days of trials on figuring out problem and experiencing BSODs 3-4 times a day on average, I planned to update to Windows 8. For the first 7-8 hours after install, it was clean and there were no BSODs but right after few games installations and updates, boom, had a BSOD on 'Memory Management 0x0000001a".

Therefore, I installed BlueScreen Viewer to find out what was causing these BSODs and same as before (in Windows 7), it's ntoskrnl.exe.

I've attached minidump files ....

Gaming :: World Of Warcraft Lagging Bad Not Network Related

Nov 24, 2013

Lets just say someone was looking at something they shouldnt of been looking at online and now my game lags. The lag isn't network related its because my cpu is peaking out and it didnt before the above mentioned event. The game will lag, I will hit w key and my toon wont move or ill be in pvp and look like im killing someone to be insta dead. I will attempt to turn with A or D and like 3 seconds later my toon will turn.

I have malware bytes but it finds nothing when I scan. and when my game is lagging I pull up task manager to see my cpu running really high and as soon as the task manager comes up it drops back down to a normal operating state and the process that is making it run really high drops off the list before i can see what it actually is. Also on my task manager I see a wow proxy server or something and when i end that task it does run a little faster but still unplayable at times.

Anyways I have :
ran malware bytes
downloaded norton/ran norton scan
still find nothing

My cpu and disk (on tank manager) run up to 90% and 100% and back down to normal levels and bakc up again and stays at like 100% cpu when i play the game , but two days ago it played the game flawlessly so i know its malicious software.

I want to play wow and its not really playable right now, I mean it seems to play but lags so bad and my world and home are at like 50 so its not a network lag.
