Very annoying BSOD problem, it tends to happen when surfing the internet and for some reason my internet keeps now coming up with that irritating internet has stopped working error every couple of minutes, I have tried to refresh or reset windows 8 but I cannot because I do not have a recovery partition or USB, I upgraded my version of windows digitally so I am looking to see if there are any other solutions first. I have attached the dmp file.
I can't get pass the "please wait" screen ..it's been in this mode for a few hours. Problem started after Windows' automatic updates. I have Gateway Desktop ZX6980..I had just fixed the problem with Apps not opening from start screen by taking the computer back to factory mode and it was working fine until the Automatic updates which could not be completed and then sat in the Configure for Windows for 6 hours ..now it's been sitting in the Please Wait mode for at least 3 hours.
Pc was running fine last night, woke up this morning and powered on pc. Windows 8 boot to the start/lock screen and does nothing more.
Some info keyboard and mouse don't work, keyboard num lock lights up but you can't turn off. Only change to pc was done 4 days ago when i brought 2 samsung 830 ssd drives and I installed a fresh copy of windows 8.
When pressing the power button pc boots down as it should (i dont have to hold the power button for a forced shutdown)
I upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 8.1 Pro about a week ago. Everything seems fine, unless I leave the computer idle for a long time. What happens is I get a black screen, with no cursor, when I return to the computer after leaving it idle overnight. It is not asleep. It is also not frozen. I can tell because I am able to reboot it while it's like this by:
The computer reboots just fine when I do this. Could it be a bad display driver perhaps? I have an AMD Radeon HD 7950 and am using the latest display drivers from AMD.
It's been a while but I just got a blue screen and The only thing I've done was install movie maker and I read that might be the cause, it baffles be because that's about the only thing I've changed in the last month with no issues.
I bought a new custom built PC from EveTech around 2 months ago for $1900.00. I installed windows 8.1 on it, and have just been receiving ENDLESS BSODs. At first I found out that Windows 8.1 does have issues with BSOD, so I installed Windows 8, hoping this would have been the solution.
I started doing some investigations on how to read BSODs, and initially I thought it was because of outdated drivers, bad memory etc, because all the posts that I read said that this is MOSTLY the cause of BSODs. I installed every program under the sun to search my drivers, and all stated that everything is updated...
Going further in the investigations, I thought it was because of overclocked CPU and GPU hardware, but even after resetting it back to factory default, I am still having this issue.
The absolute worst part of this, is that the BSODs are never the same - they are constantly throwing a new .sys file stating that "this is the problem".
I checked ram with hci test and cpu stability with prime95, everything went smoothly and without errors. But i got 2 bsods afterwards when i tried to type url in Firefox.
I think my toddler messed with some buttons on my computer today and now it is all wrong. First I tried using the keyboard to turn up the volume but this did not work. I looked into it and it seemed that my FN keys were reversed. So I followed these instructions: If the volume controls on your keyboard stops working, check the Human Interface Device Access service on your computer to make sure it is set to Automatic.
In the Start menu, type View local services.
From the Search Results list, select View local services.
In the Services dialog box, locate Human Interface Device Access. Make sure the status is set to "Started." If it is not started, click Start the service.
Right-click Human Interface Device Access and select Properties.
On the General tab, in the Startup type, select Automatic, and then click OK.
After doing this, I went to see if it worked and after hitting the volume keys a few times, my mouse disappeared. I restarted the computer, on the login screen the mouse worked fine. But, when I got into the computer the pointer was on the screen but would not move! Now I can't do anything.
In Windows 7 if my screen froze up i had no control over mouse or keyboard I pushed control alt and delete was able to go to log in screen, either restart, shutdown or use task manager close a program might be giving me this issue. It seems for me in Windows 8 this does not work anymore, causing me to unplug power on PC which can cause bad sectors to increase on HDD.D How to do this without having to shutdown improperly like i do?
Previously with win7, I had a Windows 8 dually installed. Back then, I used to get the first error only, very frequently, and only in Windows 8. I had ignored them because I had Windows 8 installed only for testing purposes, and I thought they would go away. But now, they just keep popping up, with the reference by pointer error popping up 4 damn times in a row. And may I also add just how slow my PC gets before a BSOD?
I've tried looking them up, but the solutions seem to involve the removal of different drivers. So I thought of just creating a new thread instead. I have a few games installed and I do overclock my pc sometimes, but the recent BSOD (irql) took place when I was watching a video on youtube. I am attaching the SF grab and a bluescreenview report (the 5th error in it is the dpc watchdog violation).
This might be completely irrelevant, but I'll mention it anyway. The previous Windows 8 is still installed. I tried deleting it from msconfig, and was successful, but the files are still there and it seems to be the 'system partition' right now. See my previous thread for more info.
Happened again. Uploading SF grab with bluescreenview report.
Happened a few more times. I'm trying to keep the logs updated. Another thing; my PC now seems to be very slow and sometimes when a crash occurs, all the online accounts I'm logged into (Facebook, Eight Forums, etc.) automatically logout. This was also the case in my earlier Windows 8 installation. And the latest crash appears to be of a different driver.
Recently I've experienced random BSOD's in Windows 8. Although my computer know-how is limited at best, I knew it was best to upgraded my pc in steps. The first week I installed a SSD (with a fresh install of Windows 8 on it) and ran without any problems. A week later I installed 16 gigs of (new) ram (with the SSD) and everything ran fine.
The problems started two weeks later. I haven't made any changes to my pc or driver upgrades since then. If I idle in windows everything works fine. The same is true when running Office or browsing the internet. BSOD's occur when:
- Playing games (modern or old), either after 5 minutes or after 3 hours (seems very random but frequent);
- When wathing a HD youtube movie (BSOD's when doing this seem very rare though);
I've used the pc for a few days with a usb pen with Ubuntu Live while i was backing up the files from the disk and it was ok. No crashes and no problems. Then i installed Windows 8 and i'm getting +- 2 BSOD's a day. I've already tried to find out the source, but the logs i find in the minudups are not clear to me. I'm only uploading 2 dmp files because i've done a system restore and all previous dmp were erased. I'll upload more when it happens again.
I bought this PC on january, and since then I got random BSOD at various moments, I already tryed to restore the computer, I already did this New MSI GT70 random BSOD's and i still got a lot of BSOD, my drivers are updated.
I'm experiencing random BSoDs on upgraded computer. I'll admit that in previous build I also had BSoD's and it may be related: BSoD BCCode 3b and 7e- random but mainly games - Windows 7 Forums
What I've already tested: 1) Disks full scanned in HD Tune (no problem). About SMART: Samsung shows warning state in C7, but other programs don't see any problem. It shows 1348 and had not increased. 2) RAM tested separately for 3,5 and 7 hours - no errors. But it showed strange timings (19-15-15-31) when bios and CPU-Z says correct: 9-9-9-24 3) PSU tested with multimeter. Voltages are same in idle and stress: 5 V: 5,20-5,23, 12 V: 12,10-12,15, 3,3 V: 3,35-3,39. They were changing continuously between the varies, don't know if it's correct. 4) Temperatures are OK 5) No OC 6) 10 min Furmark - no problems
BSoD info: 1st: PC was quite idle - I left it for download games on Origin and Steam 2nd: computer was idle, maybe chrome and instant messenger on but I didn't use the PC 3rd: It was at the end or even after the origin finished downloading a update and when watching flash player video
I have faced BSOD it says KERNEL_APC_during bla bla while booting into windows. i don't know what's the cause of this because it hapenned randomly (I mean sometimes I can go boot to desktop, and sometimes I faced the BSOD). I assume that maybe my realtekk driver is the problem .
I did a fresh install hoping that it would get rid of my BSODs which were numerous. So far, I only have 5 BSODs that I have had the patience to allow Windows to get to 100% on. I easily BSOD once a day, most are with MEMORY_MANAGEMENT or IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
I have run memtest86+ ad nauseum with no errors, as well as Prime 95 for over 24 hours, I am stable and these are not temperature errors (30c idle, 71c at load).
I've been experiencing BSOD for the past week, at first I thought it was my faulty HDD but I took it out and re install windows 8 but it seems to reoccur again.
I have a MSI GT70 20D-039US DRAGON EDITION 2 and get random crashs since the first day I have it.
I upgraded my laptop to Windows 8.1 after the first crash and it didn't work and then i have updated all my drivers to latest from MSI Global GT70 Dragon Edition 2 and also killer network website(include firmware but BIOS I think).
I did some research about the issue some how find out killer network might be the center of the problem but when I shut it down (using msconfig to disable the killer service V2 and killer network manager ) as other did the problem are getting a lot worse compare to before(BSOD's every half an hour compare to maybe once a day) .
why my monitor screen flickers, like it is having convulsions, from one window to another...it happens for about 5-30 seconds at a time randomly throughout my work day..and can occur when I am browsing, typing in outlook, or typing in word. I have switched monitors, cables, and it still occurs. The problem occurred with a previus laptop (ACER using windows 7) which crashed in Nov. It is now happening again with a new Lenovo desktop using windows 8.1. I bought a new backup battery and that didn't make a difference. I changed outlets and that didn't make a difference.
Recently on my gaming PC is have been having a completely random 0x0000001e, I really can't understand where it has came from, or what the root cause could be. It is a fairly new install at no more than a month old. I have not added any new internal hardware or anything like that, so what could be the cause for this random error? I have attached my logs to the main thread.
Ever since I purchased this PC with Windows 8 installed (haven't updated to 8.1) I've been getting multiple BSODs at random times, and the error messages seem to be different. I am attaching the file generated by SF diagnostic tool. I am not used to troubleshooting PCs.
