Debugging :: Playing Arma 2 - File / BCD Error Code 0xc0000034
May 24, 2014
so earlier today i launched arma 2 and then all of a sudden my computer went to a blue screen with a big sad face saying an error occurred and we are collecting error data or something along those lines. I have had my computer for over 5 months with no problems it is a dell inspiron 17R. and now every time i turn my computer on this comes up:
Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired
The boot configuration Data file is missing some required information.
File: /BCD
Error code: 0xc0000034
Youll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. if you dont have any installation media(like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.
I have done everything i can think of to try and fix this. I put in the recovery media disc and that didnt work. I followed the directions on several other threads similar to this one and i still come to this blue screen every time i turn the computer on.

I have tried to start up my PC recently and I get the message that my boot system has failed due to the fact it's missing the file "BCD".
I have contacted the microsoft company to report this issue, no support without my product code, or a disc/USB with the windows 8 system on it.
I have none of these and yet my issue still remains. My PC has worked perfectly the day before I shut it down. I'm trying very hard to restore my system but all I can find of the ways to restore it is by clicking control panel, etc...
I cannot access my laptop's desktop all I get is this error message and options to enter the setup utilities, firmware and boot options.
In all I'm asking for is, is there a way to restore my system from any of these options or is this another toss away laptop because windows 8 has failed to find this missing file?
I cannot get a replacement because I do not have the key with me that was used to install the operating system. This is all very frustrating and not to mention my job relies on this computer so it's putting everything to risk with my situation right now.
You see his laptop is in a constant rebooting session it keeps trying to reboot and reboot and reboot. And gives me that error message above. I CANT NOT, I REPEAT CANNOT GET TO THE OS SYSTEM meaning that i cant get to the start menu or anything like that. Also when i tried to select automatic repair it tries to load it then gives me the same error above. The Computer my friend has is a HP Spectre XT running windows 8 64 bit. Also the only thing, I could get to is the boot menu which has the OS boot manager which keeps rebooting and stuff. Then select a EFI file from the hard disk drive.
For the past few weeks I have been experiencing random, albeit infrequent, BSOD's.
1. Occurred while using Thunderbird 2. Occurred while using Firefox 3. Occurred while playing Dota 2
I had several processes open behind the programs listed.
What tends to happen is that the mouse and/or keyboard stops working before the computer crashes. Then it stalls at the Bios screen and will not boot up without a restart.
A few things: 1. The CPU is overclocked, but the overclock was working well on prior installations. The other systems used MBR as opposed to GPT which the current system uses. (Don't know if this matters). 2. I made a few changes to the system settings to try and optimize my SSD (see: The SSD Optimization Guide Redesigned | The SSD Review and SSD tweaker)
My laptop is one year old and is saying the boot configuration data file is missing some required information file:BCD error code 0xc0000034. I do not have a recovery disk or anything
When I start A3, it boots up just fine, then when I try to start a campaign/showcase mission or Multiplayer server, the screen starts getting horizontal lines jumping on the screen/blurred blocks sometimes as well, and then my computer either freezes up or automatically restarts, sometimes I can close ARMA n goto desktop but that gets whacked out as well doing the same thing basically on my homescreen. It then proceeds to do the same thing to me when I'm just on the desktop trying to open Google Chrome or any other task for that matter, still getting the "Display Driver Has Stopped Responding and Has Recovered" in the bottom right corner of Windows.
I've literally tried everything regarding troubleshooting this matter and to no success: Updating Drivers/Windows, Tweaking Catalyst CC settings, Disabling Hibernation, Even Refreshing the PC (Windows 8.1), Booting in Safe Mode (MSConfig), scanned for Viruses, complete Reinstall of ARMA 3, ... This has been driving me crazy the last few days and cannot figure out for the life of me why it is doing this now?? ARMA 3 was running great the first 4 or 5 months I've had it and has never had issues like this, it seems it all started after trying to join a server Online and then it crashed and froze and has been doing this Display Driver Error stuff ever since (I did recently download new Mods as well).. Do complete PC Reset is necessary? I mean after the PC Refresh, my desktop and everything else was running amazingly fast and smooth, everything was up to date, I re-installed ARMA 3 and tried again to play this morning, sadly the same errors occurred and Lines are jumping all over my screen and everything is lagging. (
The BSOD displays "system_service_exception (win32k.sys)" when I launch TreePad Business Edition (Treepad Business Edition: All-in-one Organizer, PIM/database, Word Processor, notes manager, search engine, Web site generator and much more!) from the PC or SD card; same result in XP or W7 compatibility mode. After searching for the error code, I am reading this relates to a hardware driver.
TreePad shows Windows 8 is supported on the home page (Treepad: Personal Information Manager, Notes Organizer, Word Processor, PIM, Database and more!) but not on the Business Edition page. As well, while running the install wizard, Windows 8 is listed as compatible. Attempts to contact TreePad about this issue and to verify supported Windows' versions have been unsuccessful.
Alright, so after restarting my Toshiba Satellite L50A16H Laptop (Windows 8.1) it gave me a blue recovery screen,
it stated: The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information. File: BCD Error Code: 0xc0000034
Unfortunatly I haven't made a backup or recovery file to boot my computer from so I'm stuck with the issue of finding a windows 8 iso file that matches my system, i tried getting the windows 8 iso from microsofts website but it asks for a product key before it lets you download the file, the problem is that my product key is built into the laptop and Toshiba has not provided me with the key on a sticker on the bottom or through any other method. apparently its built into the BIOS. i have a 16gb USB stick that i can boot from. using a key finder is obviously not an option because i cant start up the laptop. I was also wondering if i manage to find a windows 8 iso file to boot from, will my toshiba laptop automatically fill in the product key for windows 8 as i dont have it.
I am having trouble with system stability playing games. I suspect it's overclock related, but I've fiddled with so many settings and can't get it to stay stable. I have looked through the logs some, but I don't really understand what I'm looking at.
Is there somewhere else I can look for a guide to understanding the info that the SF Diagnostic Tool compiles?
Other things I've done: -Stress test with AIDA-64 - no trouble, can run for hours and hours. Highest CPU temps under stress ~74C -Run Memtest86+ for 10 passes - no errors Run graphics benchmarking/ stress testing with no problems (Furmark, Unigine Valley/ Heaven) Monitor temps on everything - CPU never goes above 75C in stress testing, mostly averages mid 60s during stress testing, low 30s at idle, and 50s gaming. GPU stays very cool, never surpassing 70C even in extended stress testing Update motherboard and GPU BIOS Update drivers to most current manually
The BSOD problem occurs usually after about an hour or so of gaming, sometimes less. I never get a BSOD with a message, just a stutter, then blue screen usually with a buzz coming through the speakers, then a forced restart. I can reproduce it if I run AIDA-64 and add in GPU stress test along with all the others or even if I run AIDA 64 with regular stress test and the run something like Unigine Heaven concurrently. Doing that usually produces the crash within several minutes. Event logs from the restarts always show error 0x124.
Another (unrelated I think) problem I recently had was with high latency producing audio stutter (usually with music, not noticed during gaming). I fixed this when I was going through all my drivers and updating. It seems like it was a problem with my NIC driver.
My laptop Acer Aspire 4752g has been crashing many times, I've updated my Intel HD 3000 and NVIDIA Geforce 630M Drivers so far nothing has changed. Crashes will happen after playing 20-30 mins when playing Napoleon Total War (Medium Settings using NVIDIA) and on Royal Revolt 2 (I'm not sure if it is using Integrated or nvidia) ,But sometimes i can play Royal Revolt 2 without crashing. I've received all the latest updates from Windows Update but still this is happening.
I've also tried changing the slot position of my Ram and still BSOD. I already cleaned the fan using canned air and re apply thermal grease(Deepcool Z9) with tutorials on youtube and other websites but still BSOD. Seems like a driver fault but i can't detect what cause it. I'm Using windows 8.1 x64bit before i have windows 7 but due to multiple bsod i decided to upgrade to 8.1, check this dump files ...
Recently I upgraded my pc,i changed everything but the graphic cart. So far so good. I did format and installed win 7 x32 bit first. All worked fine till i started playing games. Then while in games i would get bsod, tried 2-3 games all with the same result. So I started stress testing my hardware.furmark,occt,prime95,hds, all was good. I did format again and installed win 7 x64 now,the problem stayed.Third format i installed win 8,1 not on the ssd on the hdd just to test the problem remains. But now a window pops up that says "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" mostly, it even appeared while i was just browsing.Today after 3 days using win 8,1 i got my first bsod.
I have tried numerous drivers, and various other fixes i saw on the internet no luck.
So here is my SF Diagnostic Tool file : axilleas07.zip
While playing war thunder on steam my screen went black and i couldn't do anything. I restart my computer and play again it crashes. After one more time i look at my event viewer and find critical error event ID:41. I don't whether its the game or my pc.
I was playing Legends of Legends with my new ASUS laptop bought about few weeks ago. At first , I just ignored it and took it as a normal error but for a few times it happened again. Only when im playing League of Legends. I used BlueScreenView and found out that it was a driver issue.
I found out that BSOD playing League of Legends Driver_IRQL_Less_than_equal had the same issue so im going to try out the solutions there.
I tried out the Intel Update Facility and it said that i have a new graphic driver to download but after the installation , a message pops out saying that my computer does not meet the requirements of the driver.
I've uploaded everything correctly. I've been having fairly regular problems while playing Skyrim, sometimes BSOD (with different error codes), sometimes freezing, and sometimes crashes that return me to the desktop.
The computer has been reasonably stable otherwise.
I've been having various bsod issues with varying degrees of severity while doing various tasks. This time a friend bought 'Age of Mythology' for me and within 15 minutes of playing it my computer blue screened. Ironically, this game is ancient and should run like it's nothing yet somehow it crashed in minutes and has framerate issues.
Earlier, about an hour ago, I left to go job searching, and left my computer in hibernate mode so I could bring it back up as soon as I got back. When I tapped keys on the keyboard, the computer powered up as usual, but it brought up the BSoD, stating it was missing files.
Prior to receiving this error, everything was working fine. I even set it to hibernate mode during the night, and it powered on this morning without any problems. I dunno if it's the multimedia keyboard I'm using or what that caused it.
I don't have an installation disc (since I bought it from Fry's Electronics about a year ago with 8 pre-installed), and neither do I have a recovery disc (since I didn't know how to make one.
Computer info: Windows 8 x64 Manufacturer: ASUS
how to fix the missing boot files, and how to do it without causing any data loss from either of my hard drives.
When I do a search of the registry, I get the following errors:
Failed to open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREClassesWow6432Nodeigfxdv32.CUIDriver while searching the Registry on Local Computer, Windows reported error code 2.

If I try to delete or modify any of these entries, they cannot be accessed through regedit but are available to PsExec.exe from System Internals. I haven't tried deleting these entries for obvious reasons since I do not know if they are essential or not.
Windows 8 factory install on HP 500-056 updated to Windows 8.1 from the Microsoft Store.
Since the update, when I shut my computer down at night, there's a mysterious error code that doesn't stay on the desktop long enough for me to read it.
It doesn't seem to be causing any problems, but it's an error code and I don't want it there, needless to say.
I have bought lenovo g50-70 just 20days back, it came with inbuilt windows 8.1, they did not give any recoverable disks with it rather they said to take back up of the OS into a usb stick but I forgot to take the backup and tried to partition the hard disk using EASEUS Partition manager then I got this error "0XC0000225"
I have a segate 1TB external HDD and right now I barely have anything stored on it. Well, just now when i tried creating a new folder i keep getting error code 0x08000FFFF! What the hell?! This HDD is not even 2 months old! Is it curtains for the drive? Or is there some action I can take?
lately Iv'e been having trouble booting my windows 7 and decided that it's time to upgrade, I bought a copy ofr windows 8 64-bit from microsoft and burned it onto a disk using the windows 7 usb/dvd downloader. I was doing all this from a 32-bit and thus applied the bootsect.exe as needed. When i boot from the disk, everything runs smoothly. I insert the required code and select custom install.
At this point, i select the partitiion and proceed. as the installation proceeeds, it does not apear if the first phase of installation does anything, even after 5 minutes it stays at 0%. after it finaly switches to the next part, I wait again for the next phase, but it only throws up a message "windows cannot install required files. make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. error code 0x8007048F"
After multiple attempts I decided to reinstall windows 7, but now I get the same error.
In Win Mail I keep getting this error code every time I try to send in receive on just one of my mail accounts. It is a .rr. account. I can send and receive, but I keeps filling my inbox with the same emails over and over. Almost like the emails haven't "cleared the server" and the server keeps sending me the same emails.
Mouse works in game to look, shoot etc, but in the HUD/Setup options it doesn't, cant use it to change settings, or click on anything, its just dead. I can see the pointer, move the pointer, but that's it.
I have Windows 8.1 PRO x64bit SK (Slovakian Language Interface) + (Update 1) and Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 Android Ver. 4.3 Jelly Bean.
