Oct 24, 2013
Recently my laptop face BSOD unexpectedly. some time after several working hour, or just after windows start up. i checked my mobo temperature and checked my local drives with windows check disk. but it still go bsod.
I frequently connect my computer to my TV with hdmi cable and i dont think this comes from my graphic card. I have attached the logs of SF Diagnostic Tool here.

I installed Windows 8.1 Pro on a 128 GB Samsung SSD 840 EVO. The PC ran ok and I could play TitanFall without
any problems, however I experienced frequent BSOD's when shutting down the PC. When this happened, the BSOD would appear and the machine froze.
When running driver verifier, the BSOD's would occur more frequently and the machine rebooted randomly. Windbg indicated different causes which included atikmpag.sys and files relating to ASUS software which came with the ASUS motherboard.
After removing and reinstalling software and video drivers I installed Windows 8.1 Pro and nothing else to a new SSD and all was ok again, until running driver verifier. Windbg indicated atikmpag.sys was a cause. I then removed all AMD video drivers, including Catalyst Control Centre which Windows 8.1 had installed automatically. Microsoft Basic Display Adapter replaced the AMD drivers. To prevent Windows from re-installing AMD drivers I disabled auto update.
The system had been running with driver verifier enabled, longer than previously without issues until I experienced another BSOD. Windbg indicated the crash was caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt!IopProcessWorkItem+76 ).
I have also tested my Windows installation on a HDD to rule out an SSD related cause but still experienced a BSOD. Could this be caused by an incorrect BIOS setting?
My System:
ASUS Z87 Deluxe
Intel i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz
128 GB Samsung SSD 840 EVO
WD 1TB 3.5" SATA-III Caviar Black Hard Drive
ASUS R9290-DC2OC-4GD5
Creative Sound Blaster Zx
16 GB RAM

The problem is that every now and again (30-60 minutes of use) my computer appears to freeze, EX: the screen is fixed and I cant move the cursor and nothing on the screen changes, the PC does not seem to react to keyboard input: CTRL+SHFT+ESC for example. I have noticed at least once (while playing a game) that the sound that was playing when it occurs tends to loop.
When this happens all I can do is switch the PC off from the Power Source - wait 10 seconds and replug and boot. If I try to boot without unplugging from the Power Source - the PC fails to boot asking me to put in the Windows Disk.
This issue occurs in different types of use, sometimes when I am playing 3D games, sometimes watching youtube or even reading the BBC news. No events are logged which give indication to what is happening.
SECONDLY: On some occasions when I leave my PC idle - I come back an hour later and it has rebooted itself (No BOSD Logged) to the Boot Failure Menu.
I have had one blue screen in the past 2 weeks (DPC Watchdog Violation) which seems to point to my SSD, but I cant figure out how to fix it - or if that is a secondary issue. Unfortunately as my SSD is only 64 GIG when i did get the BOSD, it didnt store it due to the space remaining on the disk (16 GB).
I have tried to attach my system event viewer (Cleared prior to this latest incident) but the uploader says its an invalid file .
Additional Notes
OS: Windows 8.1 (Installed on Release Day, Never had problems with 8.0)
GFX: Nvidia 550 TI
Disks: SSD (Crucial M4 64 GB) (OS Install), 1TB (Hard Drive storing games and files on software partitions)
8GB Memory (tried reseating)
PSU: 700 WATT
I know the issue isn't heat related as I have monitored this. I think the problem may have started a week back when I installed the latest NVIDIA Drivers - I have since uninstalled and reinstalled them, all my PC Drivers are up to date. to reduce load on GFX I have unplugged my main monitor.
I have run Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, Windows Defender (My AV), RogueKiller, TDSKiller - several times, no viruses/rootkits, the occasional ad tracking on SuperAntiSpyware probably due to internet browsing.
I have no windows updates pending.

I've recently completed a PC build:
ASUS Rampage IV Extreme motherboard
Intel i7 4930k CPU
64GB Corsair DDR3 RAM
Seagate Barracuda 3TB HDD
Samsung 840EVO 500GB SSD (boot drive)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX760
PSU: Corsair AX860
Windows 8.1
Machine started shutting down unexpectedly, and refusing to wake from sleep a few days after being built.
A few days later and the problem has got worse now - BSOD with various errors, such as MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE, SYSTEM_PTE_MISUSE, and others. Oddly, desktop search has also stopped working.
I have updated the drivers and the BIOS, but this doesn't seem to have had any effect.

I bought an ASUS N56VJ laptop in February of this year, 2013. It has suddenly shut down six or seven times. This happens very randomly and with no pattern that I can see. It's not an overheating issue as I'm monitoring the temperature with ReatTempGT (and it often happens after only being on for a few minutes). I managed to find an error when I checked the event viewer that was from approximately the time that it happened. I'll post the information below.
[ Name] Log Name: System
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Wininit

I have installed Win 8.1 on my PC. I have noticed the system changing after sometime to the next day and the time also changes to 12:00AM. When I go to Date and Time setting by clicking "Time and Language", I find the "Set Time Automatically" option disabled and it is set to "ON".
I think it is synchronising automatically from the internet time server. I have my time zone also correctly to my region.

Reloaded my computer and downloaded apps...and 2 times I received a different redirect virus and the first thing it does is turn off the system restore and wipe out any restore points. Then, I am screwed...
I always uncheck all the extra stuff like toolbars apps like to get you to download. The last app that did this was the weather channel app.
My question is, how can I configure system restore to require a password to disable it which a virus may not look for? Or anything to keep system restore intact ?
It is too easy for these virus' to keep folks from restoring.

I've clean installed windows 8.1 pro vl x64 in my laptop (Windows Media Center is not installed of course). and activated successfully with KMSmicro 5.0.1. Windows is fully updated.
I have this problem: it wakes unexpectedly from sleep at either 04:00 or 05:00 at night.
I check in the Event Viewer and the first entries after the wake are always, eg.:
Code:
Event: Kernel-General
Description:
The system time has changed to 2013-11-24T03:19:07.500000000Z from 2013-11-24T00:19:12.031510800Z.
Change Reason: System time synchronized with the hardware clock.
Code:
Event: BTHUSB
Description:
Windows cannot store Bluetooth authentication codes (link keys) on the local adapter. Bluetooth keyboards might not work in the system BIOS during startup.
and
Code:
Event: Power-Troubleshooter
The system has returned from a low power state.
Sleep Time: 2013-11-24T00:19:02.334201600Z
Wake Time: 2013-11-24T03:19:09.179443500Z
Wake Source: Unknown
The following is what I've tried so far based on these two links:
Spoiler: [URL] ....
1a. Go to Device Manager - Select each keyboard and mouse device and right-click Properties - Go to the Power Management tab and untick "Allow this device to wake the computer".
1b. Double checked the above for my onboard ethernet network card
2. Checked in Task Scheduler and no active task is set to allow to "wake the computer to run this task" having such launch time.
3. Checked in Automatic Maintenance and "Allow scheduled maintenance to wake up my computer at the scheduled time" is disabled.
4. Ran cmd as admin, and:
Code:
C:Windowssystem32>powercfg /lastwake
Wake History Count - 1
Wake History [0]
Wake Source Count - 0
[Code] .....
5. checked in Power Options>change plan settings>change advanced power settings and the "Allow wake timers" is disabled for both On Battery and Plugged in.
6. There's no relevant setting in the BIOS.

When I click on file explorer, sometimes there are no icons, so then I close the windows for a bit. Reopen it, same problem. So I close it and reopen it a bit later, and it's fixed. When the problem is happening, clicking on any folder will bring me to basically the same blank screen, with green loading bar as you see below. I ran an anti-malware and anti-virus check, and that didn't uncover anything.

I moved from Windows 7 32bit to Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64bit installation was clean got my OS validated PC was working fine for 1 day and then I got this issue which freezes my PC for longtime repeatedly. All I have installed in it was Steam DOTA 2 game and some media softwares like VLC,Chrome,Firefox nothing more .I checked upon my event viewer found this Index Search error frequently on startup and also ESNET issue .
I tried to update my gigabyte mother board drivers but didn't get new one .So moved on to use this Intel Online Scanner then I get this BSOD from System requirements Labs had to leave that thing . How do I move forward ?
All the other option I have is to reformat my PC and degrade from 8.1 Enterprise to 8.1, 8.1 Pro or Win 7 Ultimate 64bit mostly .

Just bought a new Gateway desktop with Windows 8 and can't maintain wireless internet connection.
Connects sometimes, but drops unexpectedly.
Sometimes says it can't connect, but does anyway and works fine. Sometimes it can't see any networks.
Usually can only see my network, though I am in a condominium surrounded by many networks.
My HP laptop (Windows XP) in the same room has a solid connection so I know the wireless signal strength is not an issue
I saw the "unstable wifi" post and tried removing network devices from power saving, that didn't work.

I have a problem which started recently. The problem is that everything closes unexpectedly. I am using the classic desktop environment to use this system and all the 'apps' I use a classing Windows programs.
Randomly all of the programs that are running on the machine close down without warning (And I mean ALL of them, even explorer.exe). I know that this has not been caused by a recent installation of a program as I have not installed anything recently. I also checked the computer with an Anti-Virus software as that could have been a cause but there wasn't anything.

I am running Win 8.0 with the StartIsBack overlay and a wireless Motorola SBG6580 Wireless Cable Modem Gateway. I am 12 feet from the gateway and usually have 4 bars in signal strength but as I use the internet I drop to 3 bars and my web pages don't update. Within 1 minute after that I get No Internet Access on my wireless. I disconnect and reconnect and everything is good again for about 3 to 5 minutes then it happens again. If I reboot the gateway all seems good for a longer time. My wife runs Win 7.0 and does not have any problems. I am running a secure WEP wireless. My next door neighbor has an unsecured Motorola SB6800 gateway that I can connect to and am not dropped ever. If I connect an Ethernet cable to the gateway it works great. I am betting this must be a config problem in my laptop (Dell inspiron X14)

So, yesterday is the first time this has happened. It has never happened before. The first time it happened yesterday, I Was watching some TV shows online, and then I got the PAGE_FAULT(...) error code.
I tried running my Anti_Malware scanner to see if that could pick something up. It crashed again just as it started.
So I tried Advanced SystemCare. Again, same problem.
And it just keeps happening.
I tried refreshing my computer to see if that would do anything, but it crashed during that too.
I ran the SF Diagnostic program and I have the .DMP files (But I can't seem to upload them. Maybe I'm trying to upload the wrong ones, I don't know.)
Anyway, these are the specs of my system. HP ENVY DV-7 7270CA (less than 8 months old) running Windows 8 (as I wasn't able to update to 8.1. I got the 0x80000004 error, or whatever it was. I can't remember exactly), 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM, Intel Core i7 3630QM, NVIDIA GT630M (2GB) GPU, and a 1TB 5400RPM HDD. Don't know what brand, I didn't check.

-Ram-TEST lasted nine hours and successfully completed
-Change the motherboard (ASUS Sabertooth 990FX From R2.0 to MSI 890FX-GD70, the latter shall use at this time, the other I sold it)
-Changed video card (ATI 6870 Updated NVIDIA 760)
-Replaced SSD where the system resides, had a value SMART wrong, incorrectly replaced by Samsung (EVO 250GB)
-Analyzed by-DUMP bluescreenanalizer and semrpe the same file with the same bug tails
-Windows-formatted 3 times already
The temperatures are good .. I also have a Corsair H100i and a fairly spacious case that allows good ventilation (CM Storm Trooper)
This is my components:
CPU: AMD FX8350
RAM: 16GB (4 x 4) G SKILL 1866 MHz CAS 8
SSD: 250GB Samsung EVO
Video Card: Zotac 760 amp edition!
HDD: 3TB WD, 250GB WD
Motherboard: MSI 890FX-GD70
Sound Card: Asus Xonar Phoebus ONLY
Case: CM Storm Trooper Black
Win 8.1 x64 Original
I repeat that I do not overclock, the frequencies are those of series
Now I'll explain when I turn on my pc at COLD (the day after practically) happens to me .. and not always! However, if you reboot immediately after work PERFECTLY, and for hours and hours! without presenting problems or other, and even under stress. The next day, however, having been off the night it happens it happens .. this blue screen without doing anything specific! Coincidentally, sometimes even if I do nothing on windows just turned on, or a complete on the internet, or other, causally!

I started a thread a while ago and You Fellas diagnosed the problem was the faulty RAM. So I bought and replaced using 2 other slot of memory that wasn't used before (i have 4 slots). It took some time, but sadly it started crashing again. 4 dmps and routine stuff attached. It happens usually in games but it happens sometimes in desktop so its random for me. What component or anything else is corrupted.

For about two weeks I've sometimes been having a BSOD within five after startup (always, otherwise I won't get a BSOD until I restart):
"DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (iaStorA.sys)"
I've been posting on Techforums here: [URL]
And thought I might as well post here as well for other opinions while I test the drivers.

The crashes usually occur when the computer is not in use. I will move the mouse and either the screen will come to life... or the computer has crashed.
I updated NVIDEA drivers end of July and thought I fixed it. But apparently not.

About 2 - 3 weeks ago, I've got a lot of bluescreens, and I've solved it by removing my USB wireless adapter and connecting to my router by using an Ethernet cable, this reduced the amount of them, I think that I only got one after that. In the last sunday, my hard drive broke and bought a new one in monday, and after formatting it and reinstalling Windows 8, the bluescreens returned and now they're more than ever!!!! And one thing I have noticed, is that two of them appeared when I was copying big files which total size was about 60 GB from a directory to another inside the C: .
I'm starting to think that this is related to the motherboard or something like that.

I just purchased a new SSHD for my HP DV9830US laptop that was running Vista 64-bit. Purchased Windows 8.1 for a clean install on the new SSHD.
I noticed I would get random BSOD doing different tasks and what-not. Updated my BIOS and some other random drivers, and it seemed to fix the problem for the most part.
Then I installed Steam and Counterstrike, and while playing, the game will freeze and my system just does a hard reboot midgame after the freeze. The audio file that was last playing during the game does a repetitive laggy sound during the freeze.
I have used the SF_Debug_tool and attached the file.
