View 1 RepliesI am using Windows 8 and get a annoying problem. The Input method can be swith by type "ALT+SHIFT" combination, but this is just only change the default Input method, then every app you openned got this "INput method " . This is different from WIN7 and I think this is not a good change.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf you add an input method by mistake you CANNOT it seems remove it again.
The remove button is greyed out. This applies to Windows 8.1 not Windows 8.
How to get rid of this.
During the installation stages of windows 8, I choose English language and US as keyboard input method. But after few weeks later, I bought a new British style keyboard and in control panel I replaced US method with English (United Kingdom). While I'm logged into the operating system the input method works correctly, but after every shutdown on a next user log in when I'm writing my password it's still English US method that not corespondent with the keys on the keyboard. This not happening if I put the system in sleep mode.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWindows 8 device (Dell XPS 12 i7 running Windows 8.1 Pro). I like the touch input when it is flat in tablet mode, but when I plug a USB mouse into it when I am at my desk, I want the mouse inputs to be treated exactly like finger inputs on the touch screen. For example, scrolling by touching/clicking anywhere in a window or the ability to flick things using my mouse like I can with my finger. Simply using the mouse makes everything behave like it did in Windows 7: Clicking and dragging selects things instead of scrolling in Office 2013. I don't want this, I want it behave like Android does when I plug a mouse into it: Just like a finger was there.
I have looked everywhere for such a setting, but I cannot find one. How can I achieve this? I want all mouse inputs to be treated exactly like touch inputs.
Here is a screenshot of the step I'm stuck at:
I have written a Chinese character on the touch keyboard but I can't seem to copy it so I can paste it elsewhere such as a search engine.
How do I copy Chinese characters from the Touch Keyboard to paste elsewhere such as search engines?
i am using an inspiron 14 with windows 8 single language (US English).
i recently downloaded a chinese music player from www.duomi.com and windows 8 is only displaying part of the chinese wordings in the software correctly, the rest are like alien characters.

I have a Sony VAIO VPCSE and I have installed Windows 8 Professional. My region, language, input methods etc are set to English(Ireland)
The Problem When I turn on my laptop, there is the word "ENG" beside my clock and my input language is set to English (United States). When I click ENG; I am giving the option to switch between English(Ireland) and English (United States).
When I go to language preferences, the English (United States) language does not show as being one of my preferences
However, when I add the language and then press "Remove", the ENG beside the clock disappears
I don't mind what it is; editing the registry, deleting the English(United States) language.
In windows 7, windowed mode input lag was fixed by turning off aero. Is there a fix for windows 8?
View 4 Replies View RelatedUsing Windows 8.1. Windows+Space allows me to navigate to Japanese, but releasing the keys or pressing Enter does nothing. The Left Alt+Shift shortcut also does nothing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to be able to input text using three different languages: English (US), Russian, Ukrainian. To that end I have prepared the following:
As you see, UI is being overridden to Ukrainian too, which is also desired.
I also need to be able to switch input languages NOT using any cyclic shortcut like Ctrl+Shift or Alt+Shift, but by language-specific shortcut, namely Ctrl+1 for English, Ctrl+2 for Ukrainian, Ctrl+3 for Russian. It has been so for years for me and I got used to it.
To that end I found the following setup
There you see two Ukrainian layouts (I made one myself, another one is built-in).
The problem is that Ctrl+1 for English works, Ctrl+3 for Russian works too, but BOTH shortcuts for Ukrainian layots do NOT work. When I press Ctrl+2 or Ctrl+4 just nothing happens. I tried to change the Ukrainian shortcuts to no avail.
What's more interesting thing I just discovered, is that these Ukrainian shortcuts do work selectively.
In Notepad and MS Word -- don't work
In Mozilla Thunderbird and Firefox, also Skype -- does work.
Shortcuts seem to be working everywhere EXCEPT the software written by Microsoft.
I use a Logitech k400 Wireless keyboard with a built in trackpad. It's great in theory, but the implementation has a few flaws:
The keys are small, and the trackpad is worthless, especially with Windows 8.
I've been trying to find an alternative, but the only one I found is using apple inputsw and something called a "Magic wand" which connects the two:
Here's what I'm thinking of doing:
Buy a Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650
Buy a Logitech Wireless Illuminated Keyboard K800
Buy a board slightly bigger than the footprint of both of these devices, and a bunch of velcro.
You can guess the rest.
Windows seems to keep shutting itself down after about 1-2 hours of no user input. By this I mean, regardless of what programs are left running, if I do not move the mouse of press a button on the keyboard once an hour, the system will shut itself down.
This is not a crash, there are no errors, the event log shows nothing unusual, Windows runs through the full and proper shut down procedure as if I had clicked the shut down button myself.
I have checked through every option I can think of, I have looked at every option I can think of in the Power Options menu, including the advanced options, I have searched on Google and on here, and I can come up with nothing.
I have a Duo 11 (Sony VAIO Tablet Laptop | VAIO Duo 11 Ultrabook | SVD11215CXB | Sony USA this one) and one day I plugged in my mouse and suddenly the touch screen stopped working and after digging around in the device manager and settings i can find nothing except for this, "no pen or touch input is available for this display".
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Dad used to use the laptop that me and my Mom share, and he did something to the settings on the computer (I don't know what, or else I would have fixed it myself.) which allow you to use a USB mic, and he disabled the microphone jack on the computer.
I really want to find out how to change it, because I'm planning on doing TF2 livestreams, and I need the mic to do so, and if I can't find a way to fix this, then I'm going to either have to use one of the crappy USB mics we have, or I'm going to have to convince my Dad to let me use his 300$ mic.
I only just bought a new computer with Windows 8.1 on it. (SO not impressed with this OS.) Anyway, I'm trying to set up all my externals. I have an external microphone I use through a Tascam US-200 audio interface. It has the ability to record in stereo and I have done so for some time using Audacity on my old computer running Windows 7 with no problems.
I checked that the Tascam system has been tested with Windows 8. No problems there. I installed the drivers and audacity and set everything up. However, I'm still only getting mono sound instead of stereo when I attempt to record. I've double checked that the Default Format for the input device is set to 2 channel, 16 bit, 441000 Hz and that Audacity is set to take in a stereo input. No joy. I can record sound but only in mono.
P.S. After repeated attempts I CAN get the system to recognise the stereo input... for less than a second when first turned on. Something is getting through but for some reason it just doesn't keep.
Provide a list of Input Locales for Windows 8?
Or know any changes of the Input Locales compared to 7?
I upgraded my laptop to Win 8.1 a few days ago and everything seemed to be working fine. I ran into an issue today using the desktop version of IE 11 where I can type text into the address bar but if I select a field on a web page, I am not able to type text into it. I normally use FireFox as my browser and it works fine (as does Chrome). If I bring up the Metro version of IE 11, I can enter text fine.
It's not a big deal since I rarely use IE but it bugs me now that I know about it. I just checked on a netbook I upgraded and don't see the issue there.
So my Laptop does accept HDMI as Input to. But I don't know about any program, that can watch what is being put in.

This has worked perfectly until I updated to Windows 8.1. When I connect to the training monitor I get a message saying 'Input Signal Out of Range, reset to 1280 x 1080 60ghz. There isn't a setting for the above resolution. Everything works fine until I connect to the secondary monitor. Annoyingy the message remains on that screen - I can't remove it.
