I had desktop with intel motherboard with chipset G41 and motherboard model DG41RQ. My desktop is assembled desktop with os windows 8 enterprise x64. Problem is Audio is not working at all. I visited intel website but I did not find solution.
The volume for media playback is way to low in windows I have tried everything from disabling enhancements, I also have installed SRS HD audio software also with low volume.
An audio booster, or anything that would boost SRS Audio output. I also after using the default driver provided by Windows 8, updated to the newest Realtek HD driver, and still no difference.
I have Windows 8 Enterprise, yes,a legal copy from where I work. It does not come with Media Center, NOR can you use the method to "Add features" as it does not work on the Enterprise version. I have a valid Windows Media Center key from Microsoft but, there is no place to enter it.
Any work-around to get Media Center working on Windows 8 Enterprise ?
long time ago I downloaded Windows 8 Enterprise x64 from MSDN and activated via microsoft, and now I got RTM and GA from other sources (what I mean it's that I did not download directly from MSDN). Now that I have some time I make some tests.
The activated machine has never get internet connection, results:
Enterprise 8 and RTM iso:
-I use the Setup.exe with graphical options.
- That iso don't allow me inplace update, only install with keep data, keep data and aps and keep nothing. Using keep data and apps, I got 8.1 deactivated.
Enterprise and GA iso:
-I use elevated cmd ---> setup.exe /auto:upgrade (seem this option is the same as install and keep data & apps)
-Using graphical interface of setup.exe is the same as before, no inplace update. Using keep data and apps, I got 8.1 deactivated.
-My account password did not work, as it install english keyboard layout and set it to default (mine is Spanish)
-A new pop-up appear after install in the upper right corner telling me how to use the charm bar (something that did not appear on RTM)
Is this normal? Or should I think I download a bullshit with same SHA1 as MSDN? Why I can't make inplace update with an activated Enterprise machine and GA iso? and moreover, Why are this iso's so different?
Then how to make inplace update to Enterprise edition without internet connection?
I have a windows 8 laptop and today the sound just stopped working. The windows audio service will not enable and everytime i try to enable it fails due to a duplicate in Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.
Now tricky part is i cant open control panel as it doesn't load, i tried reinstalling windows 8 but it also not load. This all was working perfectly just earlier today. I have no sound, just an x by the sound.
So about a month after I bought my computer, all of a sudden there was no audio comming from my headphones or speakers. i do have to say that windows 8 was a bit new for me because i was using windows xp the only way i can get audio now, is by plugging in a usb with bluetooth connection. even HDMI won't work. i'm getting no errors when running errorchecker.
Perhaps usefull info: -pc Model No: HP ENVY h8 PC series -running windows 8.1 -i have extra beats audio (for audio settings).
I have a Gigabyte GA-F2A75m-HD2 (Rev 1.0) board and this is quite an odd one. The front port worked with Ubuntu and other Linux distros but it seems to be the opposite case with Windows 8.1. I installed the latest Gigabyte version of the Realtek HD Audio Manager but it still doesn't work. What should I do?
I updated to 8.1 because supposedly, it was to offer features similar to win 7. Instead, it's even worse than win 8. Now, the sound quality on my laptop is lousy because the Dolby Audio driver receives an error message and isn't working. I went to Lenovo (I have a Ideapad N Series 580) and followed these instructions from Lenovo and microsoft, which unfortunately didn't work. I'm still getting the same error message. I wish I had never heard of windows 8.1! Many have had this same problem after installing 8.1. This instructions are from Answers.Microsoft, but didn't work.
Open Device Manager. (Right-click on the Start button and choose Device Manager).
Expand the Sound, Video and Games Controllers section.
Right Click on the Conexant Smart Audio HD item and choose Uninstall.
Still in Device Manager, click on Action>Scan for new Hardware.
The Conexant Smart Audio item will re-appear.
Right-Click on it and choose update driver.
Navigate to d:driversaudio.
When that's done, close Device Manager.
Open File Manager and navigate to D:driversAudioDolbyGUI and install Dolby Home Theater.
These instructions are from Lenovo and didn't work.
i've been having this problem since I THINK starting to use a HDMI wire. But now, i cannot get any audio from the audio jacks, they are detected, but no sound is produced and I just cannot figure it out. I've disabled the HDMI, installed, un-installed, re-installed audio drivers and pretty much any method and i can find thus far and nothing at all has worked. I'm a huge lover of music, and the is driving me insane!
Note: The speakers are fine, they work with my iPhone.
In my HP Compaq Presario V3000 Laptop with Windows 8.1(32 bit) version, when I play a video such as Youtube, I do not receive any audio although video is played. But Device manager shows the message for 'Sound audio contoller' as 'HD audio driver working properly'. But if I disable Sound/Video Controller and then enable it, the audio comes back properly. But my problem is that every time I open the computer, I have to do this exercise if I wish to watch aan audio/video bit!
I installed windows 8 on my PC 3 days back. The problem i am facing is that it's sound is not working. I heard we don not need to install additional software to make sound working. But this is not working in my case.
I've created a Windows 8.1 partition separate to the original Windows 7 install. The manufacturer, Acer says the model is supported for the Win 8 upgrade. I did it on a second partition and simply installed the W8 drivers from their website. It uses Dolby Digital Audio V4. It sounds poor on Win 8 though, on the occasion that I boot back into Win 7 the difference is like night and day. Any icons in the try, apps etc. appear to be properly installed and loaded in Win 8 yet the audio quality from the speaker and with a headset is still degraded.
After i installed windows update, i notice that my audio/sound is not coming up again. I've restarted my system countless time, and is still not coming up. Have checked the drivers and everything is ok but i can't play songs. Have tried using media player and xbox, but it couldn't play any file (xbox is saying 0xc00d11cd (0x8000ffff) error). My laptop brand is DELL inspiron 15R, windows 8
I updated to Windows 8 today, and everything seemed to be going well until I tried playing music through my headphones. They worked fine on my iPhone, but once I plugged them into my laptop, no sound came out.
So when I restart my system everything works fine. After s few minutes videos e.g. on Youtube stop working (keep on buffering but won't play). From that moment on I can't change the system volume and trying will result in crashing the Windows Explorer. After the Explorer restarts some things start to work partially again, e.g. I can change the volume again and streams work for a few seconds each.
However, the Explorer keeps on crashing every few minutes and no multimedia stuff seems to work properly, neither Youtube nor music players like Winamp.
I suspect it is somehow related to my Logitech G35, as the problem came up today after plugging the headset in. However, I use the headset nearly daily for months now .
I guess for now I will just go and try to kill some processes...
I have a dual boot Win 7, Win 8 setup. Suddenly the audio has stopped working on Win 8. (Works fine on Win 7) I checked for driver updates, even "installed" an old driver which didn't actually install. The volume control shows its trying to work, puff of green comes and goes at the bottom of the slider.
However I've tried "cleaning" for other concerns and that made a real mess of the setups for several programs. I suppose I could do a refresh but that's equivalent to a re-install..
After the latest lot of Windows Updates for 8.1 my Asus Xonar STX no longer works and I get an error message saying
"an Asus Xonar STX has been detected but the drivers appear to be corrupt, please try reinstalling them."
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the card and drivers and the card is still not working.
It is 100% to do with the latest updates, I have done a system restore to before the updates were applied and my sound card works fine. If I install the updates again, my card stops working, so there is no doubt it is the updates causing the problem.
There are no driver updates for my sound card either, so it's not driver related. I have also seen several other people with different sound cards on other websites reporting the same thing, so the problem is also not unique to me.
Which update is causing it or if there is a work around? I have turned Windows Updates off for now but I don't like having to do this and would rather find a alternative work around or fix.
I bought a Gateway E56R41u to replace my Acer netbook. However, I downloaded the free upgrade to Windows 8.1 and my audio quit working. I've downloaded all the drivers that I could find and nothing works. Is there a driver for another machine that will work with my Gateway?
I have a Toshiba laptop running windows 8.1 and the issue that Im facing is that suddenly sound stops working, most likely when playing youtube videos. This is what I've done so far:
Reinstalling drivers (microsoft, realtek, conexant) Upgraded to 8.1 (I had this issue as after a few weeks I installed windows 8, never happened on 7) HDMI and headphones outputs are working just fine.
When I was on windows 8 I could make the speakers work by just clicking on disable and re-enable from the sound properties, If I disabled the microphone the speakers started to work again which I have no idea why that used to happen. Now on 8.1 the only way to make them work is by closing the lid or restarting the laptop which is pretty annoying.
These are the current (default settings) I have played with them but nothing fix the issue.
I've installed windows 8 yesterday and noted that front panel audio doesn't work (I use a headphone) connecting the headphone to back jack it's work but front not.
It's a Intel HDA, and using windows's default driver.
all plugged in new computer drivers up to dateset to quadraphonic they were working yesterday but they appear to have stopped on their own. the test speaker option worked at first but now they dont when i click the speaker icon to test on the sound playback options tab the level indicator shows green as though they are working but there is no sound coming out of the rear speakers
Text to speech is not working at all. I use Mumble and it is very important because I run the server. I checked the text to speech settings in windows, and mumble. When I hit "Preview" In either one, it highlights the text, and I hear nothing. Sound is coming out, just not text to speech.
My Dad used to use the laptop that me and my Mom share, and he did something to the settings on the computer (I don't know what, or else I would have fixed it myself.) which allow you to use a USB mic, and he disabled the microphone jack on the computer.
I really want to find out how to change it, because I'm planning on doing TF2 livestreams, and I need the mic to do so, and if I can't find a way to fix this, then I'm going to either have to use one of the crappy USB mics we have, or I'm going to have to convince my Dad to let me use his 300$ mic.
The microphone on this non-brand headset isn't working due to the microphone not showing up under the recording devices. Audio is working for the headset (and anything else that I plug in ), but not the microphone. The green bars do not go up in the audio manager either when I test the microphone. I'd like to use this for teamspeak, but there doesn't seem to be anything that I have found on google to solve this so far, or anything that I've figured out on my end. I have attached a screenshot of what is happening in my audio manager. When any headphones/earphones are plugged into the green jack, they work and sound is audible, however in the audio manager it still says that no headset is plugged in even with them plugged in & working.
- As well, I have a d945gtp motherboard
- I also have an actual sound card in the motherboard ( a soundblaster live sb0060 )..it currently doesn't work at all, and shows up in the device manager as 'multimedia audio controller' with a yellow exclamation mark. If I could get this working instead, that'd be much better too as an alternative fix.
My laptop with OS Windows 8 will become no sound frequently. I try to find out the cause, and discover that the device is being used by another application, but I can't find any application using it, here is the screenshot:
Under this situation, when I open Window Media Player, this problem will occur:
I am sure that my sound drivers are working properly:
When I use Windows Troubleshooting function, here is what I discovered (Ignore the Bluetooth):
I am not sure about what is "Hardware changes might not have been detected", but after running Troubleshooting, my laptop have sound back, however, after about 30 minutes, my laptop will become no sound again, and I need to run Troubleshooting again and again to solve the problem. how to solve the problem completely so that I do not need to run Troubleshooting again and again?
I've installed Win 8 64bit on my Acer Aspire 8930g laptop, in January. Till recently, the 5.1 sound was ok. A couple of weeka ago, the central speaker is silent, the front left & right speakers are very low, the two back speakers and the sub are ok. I tried un-install and re-intall all audio drivers (Realtek HD audio & Nvidia digital audio) but the problem remains.
However I am experiencing problems with the sound. It just doesn't appear to be working, despite the volume being turned up to the max. The problem usually fixes itself briefly after a restart but it then cuts out after time.
None of the playback devices are muted. When I try testing the speakers, I get an error message saying "Device in Use: Please close any applications using this device for playing audio" - however, there doesn't appear to be any device using the speakers.
I have recently started using an HDMI cable to use my laptop through my TV
I was recording with my internal realtalk hd mic on my laptop, but it stops working everytime I plug in my head set. There's nothing special about this headset, and there's no microphone on it. Sadly, my RT mic does this with any headset I use. It's frustrating when I unplug my headset and the mic begins to work fine again. Is there any reason why it might be doing this? Whenever I try to configure the mic, it simply just doesn't recognize any noise being made when the headphoes are plugged in.
