After getting a new HP Envy M6 laptop on Monday I am now a Windows 8 user....after got familiarised with new metro style I have noticed that DVD maker is missing.... What has happened to this rather useful DVD creating tool that I come to love in Windows 7 as I there is No burn DVD option in Movie Maker....

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have my laptop running windows 8, and whenever i boot it up it just shows the "HP" logo and then the spinning dots on the bottom, then it just goes to a black screen with a cursor on it. Now I cant do anything with this, seeing as it is windows 8 I cant boot it into safe mode from startup. I have an HP Envy Laptop.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI need my Movie Make to work. It worked just fine when I had Windows 7, but now (As a Windows 8 user) when I try to save anything the system says it is trying to repair the problem and then kicks me out.
I only really use Movie maker for the trim tool and a few other features, as it is so easy to use. However, I have an enormous file that will not compress any further. I need to trim it in order to send it but Movie Maker will not allow me to.
How do I fix this? Is there another option? Why is Movie Maker not compatible with 8?
I need to edit some bass fishing videos but when I dragged the videos into windows movie maker and let them play, the bar moved but nothing was shown in the preview box.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have bought a HP envy 15 and upon using it a couple of times I turned it on again and Bluetooth had DISAPPEARED it was non existent in any settings or the Control Panel or anything except in Device Manager. After excessive clicking around I found that it had been turned off so I turned it back on.
I have used it for a while since until I turned it on today and found it to be again completely disappeared, I have tried everything within my knowledge to fix it and right now I have re-remembered how utterly worthless HP are at making hardware. I cannot find how to turn it back on again if it is the same error, but I do not think it is.
If I go into my device manager now (see image) it has the exclamation mark through it which means what exactly?? Clicking to update the driver does nothing, restarting does nothing, I can't see how uninstalling or disabling it will do anything.
Windows Movie Maker 2.6 freezes and stops responding when I make an audio track shorter. What can I do? And I want to use Windows Movie Maker 2.6 for some simple stuff sometimes, because other video making softwares are too difficult for some simple stuff many times...

I was doing normal work, and I left my laptop downloading a torrent. Laptop not connected to power, so only running on the battery on High Performance Profile. I had lunch , that took me around 40 minutes, and when i came back the screen was off ( which is normal) I moved the mouse, I was preparing to login and suddenly the screen just turned all blue with big letters telling me INPAGE KERNEL DATA ERROR and that the memory or something was going to be downloaded and then the laptop would be restarted. Then a percentage number started to increase 20%,30%, 60% 100% and laptop restarted.
This is the first time i see this error.
So I attach the required file.
This happened after I uninstalled all my metro apps this morning, rebooted then reinstalled them. Chrome also updated in the meantime.
They're the only icons that are broke so clearly something has happened between now and then to stop icons displaying properly for new programs.
Is it worth rebuilding icon cache? Not sure the icons for metro are the same as filetype icons in Explorer though.
When I was on Windows 8 I could install an app from the store and it would automatically put a tile for it on the start screen. After upgrading to 8.1 it stopped doing that. Now after I install an app I have to search for it and right click and tell it to pin to the start. Is there any way to have a tile automatically put on the start screen after install with 8.1?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell laptop Inspiron 15 3531. When I went to configure the toucpad, the 'Edge Scroll & Zoom' tab is missing. I want to scroll vertically (up and down) on the edge of the pad.
I've tried uninstalling the current touchpad driver(from Device Manager) and then installing the latest version. But it didn't work.
I have a new HP desktop, 8 months old, with Windows 8. Send To has never worked properly. The only items showing are BD-ROM DRIVE (E), or Removable Disc (F) when a flash drive is inserted.
I cannot find the Send To folder using, Run > shell:sendto, or with Search. I have used Refresh with no result. As the Send To has never worked from new, it would appears to be missing from the software, or the software as written is unreliable. A software update would seem to be what is required to resolve the problem.
From the number of inquiries on line and in the forums, it appears to be a major problem. Can we hope for a resolution when 8.1 is released. It did work perfectly with XP, Vista, and Seven after all.
I've had a lot of trouble with my samsung laptop. The HDD has been replaced but I now cannot do a refresh or reset. I get the message"Some files are missing. Your Windows installation or recovery media will provide these files". The laptop came with Windows 8 installed so I do not have the installation discs. I can do a factory restore by pressing f4 on start up successfully but still shows the above message trying to refresh. What caused this and what can I do about it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt is a HP Pavilion. When I power up the machine it opens to "what I presume is the Desktop" OK. However there is only the clock, Wi-Fi and Batt/ACicon on the screen. There are no Apps showing, no Charm Bar and no keyboard shortcuts work at all. If I click any place on the screen it opens to a gmail sign in page and that is it.
I probably should also mention that I get nothing hovering my mouse in the lower right corner. Now the clincher is that this is his wife's machine and she can't remember the PW for this gmail account. So I can't even sign into it tosee if that even brings me anyplace beyond the gmail account.
One thing I did notice was that an automatic update did download itself while I was writing this. I shut down and let them load and restart hoping maybe all would be well on the restart. Not that lucky.
Did I mention he did not receive a disc with themachine nor was he in tuned to create a Rescue Disc. How to get him out of this jam.
When I launched movie maker it would not start. I tried reinstalling but no luck. Heres a screenshot. I've already also tried installing the newest video card driver too.

I transferred my Family tree maker to my new Windows 8 programme, the Hebrew characters show up as gibberish. I have Hebrew installed on the computer. is there some setting i can change in windows?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a new Win 8.1 user trying to setup a more normal looking desktop on my wife's new laptop.
In an attempt to populate the desktop toolbar with apps on the start page, I found it can't be done as explained in the tutorial. Either when I touch/hold the app icon, or right mouse click, the app is checked and the bottom application bar appears. However, on the app bar my only choices are: "Unpin from Start", "Uninstall", or "Find in Start". I'm not given the option of "Pin to taskbar". I also don't see the choices: "Open new window", "Run as admin", or "Open file location" that I see in an example under that tutorial.
I'm running this account in admin mode. The most recent Windows update was 5/2014, with no new updates available when checked today. Is there something wrong or a control panel setting I need to enable to see the other choices?
I right click on the .exe file in the file manager and select Pin to Start Menu. The Tile appears and works. However, the next time I log on that tile has disappeared. What's happening?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWell, last night, I had noticed that there was no desktop tile and if I typed "desktop" on the start screen there was no app for it Also, "Change PC Settings" wasn't starting. My guess is that it did that because I had a really hard time uninstalling a program so I had to try going by means of registry editing. So I ended up refreshing my computer (from the installation disc since PC settings wasn't working ) Now everything is back to normal. So all I want to know is how I can prevent this from happening again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using the latest version of WMM and been having a strange issue. I am using muted MP4 videos and an MP3 song. When I start the video at the beginning, it would play differently then it would if I started at a certain clip. For example, if I start the video at the title screen, and then it went into the next clip, it would play slightly behind compared to starting the video at the clip. I know I should use a better editor, but free ones always has adware.

I like to make "movies" with Movie Maker of my pix and scrapbook pages, etc. and I create an annual slide show for our ACS Relay For Life. Downloaded Windows Essentials because I like and am most familiar with Movie Maker.
Created a new project, added jpgs, added mp3s. Worked fine................and then it didn't. Jpgs are still there, project is saved, looks like music is there, but no sound will come out.
I was working on desktop mode and suddenly my screen went black. After about 4 seconds everything returned to normal but when I went to the Start screen all of my application tiles were missing. Except for Desktop & Store tiles, all the others had disappeared. I tried to search the missing apps and pin it to Start but it cannot be found. They wont even show in All apps.
I don't think the apps are deleted because from desktop I can open image/audio files with Photos and Music app.
Not sure if the problem maybe a result of me accidently changing the AppData folder to visible a couple of minutes earlier.
Apparently there's supposed to be a checkbox that reads "Show store apps on taskbar" but that isn't there! I have a version of Windows 8.1 that doesn't have this option. I really liked this feature. This worked for me until I installed a fresh installation of Windows 8.1.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue concerning the default Mail app from Win 8.1. I have set up two mail accounts: my default Microsoft account and an extra Office 365 account. Notifications are turned on for all mail and mails are downloaded as they arrive. But I'm not getting notifications for the default account. Might I add that synchronization is not automatic and I need to open the app to get the new mail. The second account works okay, though.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter 23 Windows updates were installed a few days ago (to Windows 8.1 PC) I noticed a couple of things
1. Most of the 3rd party programs I had added to start screen had disappeared
2. Most of the Windows Accessories had disappeared from 'Apps' screen under 'Windows Accessories' (this affected all users on the PC). See screenshot (only Notepad remaining).
I found that most of the 3rd party programs were still installed, so just re-did 'pin to start' on those.
I checked one of missing accessories, Snipping Tool, and the exe file still exists in Windows/System32 folder. I tried creating a shortcut and copying to Start Menu/Programs folder, but then appears under 'S' rather than Windows Accessories!
Unfortunately I don't have a restore point that I can go back to and don't want to 'refresh' Windows install (as would lose installed 3rd party applications).
How I can restore Windows Accessories (or has experienced similar issue after updates)?
I have added music(.mp3s) or sound effects on my videos no problem on Movie maker..
But i am having a bit of a problem now it keeps on saying ''error adding Music starts after the last(photo or video)'' in project. i have tried it and it still won't work doing.
And i was putting sound effects or music in the middle or and the start of my videos and in fact i have added a sound effect today before it kept coming up with adding music error.
The mp3s (and sound effects) are not corrupted.
Why am i getting this adding music error all of the sudden? How do i fix this stupid problem?
I have to delay posting my video since sunday(upload day) for my Youtube Channel now i will have to do it again for another day and i have been working very hard on this video.
I was happily using Windows Movie Maker 2012 on Windows 8 for several days, when all of a sudden the sound stopped working. Whenever I try to play a clip from a video camera, a former project, or a finished movie file on my computer, the video plays but with absolutely no sound. I have tried putting in mp3 songs, and those do not play with sound either. I can see and single out the audio tracks to clips, but I cannot hear anything. Sound on the computer is working fine, and the clips play in Windows Media Player and other media players. I have tried uninstalling Windows Movie Maker and reinstalling it. It worked initially, but I waited a few days and tried again only to have the same problem occur.
(P.S., I did try Windows Movie Maker 6, but it does not accept certain movie file formats that my video camera uses, so I went back to WMM 2012.)
I have been using Movie Maker in Windows 8 to edit video (MP4 H.264) files. How to burn movie to disc. I have dvd burner software but can't load movie to it. How I might do this? If not possible any alternative video editor/burner software.
